  1. Where's the best place to buy a set of Denso IK20's ? The o'l girls not firing up first time some mornings and the sparks are probably due for replacement anyway. Also how easy is it fit them ? (I'm sure there's a guide on here somewhere) Thanks
  2. It was a decent review and for once a Japanese car didn't get poo pooed with the usual "it has no heritage" or "it has no soul" kak that mags tend to say when reviewing a car from that side of world.
  3. FYI peeps Part1 http://cars.ign.com/articles/836/836578p1.html Part2 http://cars.ign.com/articles/836/836942p1.html
  4. Theres a round about near me where my back end can slip out even at 20, however it is near a petrol station and caked in diesel spilage ;-) Does that count ?
  5. Anyone after a turbo upgrade ? If yes, then head over to Prolex. The IS200 Turbo Conversion is currently selling for £0.00 (or it could just be a typo )
  6. Few odd comments here, cant say my is200 was bad when it had standard shocks. You did have to respect it when it was seriously wet as i do with coilovers and full geo on it now. I found when i had the dunlops sp9000's they weren't too great in the wet, when i move to proxies t1-r's they really gripped and now i'm on falkens the grip is slighly less. Snow is another matter, as our euro buddies keep telling us though "get snow tyres".
  7. First you'll need an amp bypass lead http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lexus-IS200-SE-Sport...1QQcmdZViewItem Then you'll need a radio facia which can also be found on ebay. Also check out the following posts http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=37720 Basically you need to bypass the stock amp. The cable works a treat, i replaced my radio with an alpine ipod unit.
  8. Also possible to twin turbo charge it. Check these links out http://www.lextreme.com/fi.htm
  9. The Americans had the IS300 with a 5speed gear box. I expect it wont be a walk in the park style install as the engine mounts would be different and thats just the start of it. Monster Mat is your best source of info regarding this type of project. Just out of curiosity what side do you guys drive on ? if its the right side you could be best off sourcing an is300 5speed from America (or if you dont care what side the wheel is on).
  10. Word on the street is that the first gen ps1's made great cd players that rivaled the likes of arcam etc for audio fidelity. Personally i couldn't tell the difference.
  11. They're just upset because he's winning.
  12. There are other "advantages" such as its supposed to clean the engine. Also my engine note changed slightly and it was a bit more responsive but not by a huge margin. Lower down in the rev range it felt a bit better than running off standard fuel but that was it really. People with Evo's, Scoobys, Skylines etc probably notice the difference more than others would.
  13. My mpg actually went down a little when i was using super unleaded. But thats probably not due to the petrol ;-) Also the sun doesn't state what cars they used for testing. From my basic understanding of cars it really wont make too much difference on n/a cars but it does make a heck of a difference on turbo cars also i bet the cars weren't mapped for ron97 and upwards.
  14. One of my friends, his dad has a 330i auto with nav. Its really boring. It's difficult to express just how dull it is, even the owner regrets getting it. Its an odd drive as well, usually in an auto, kick down occurs when you floor it. In this car you have to lift and then floor it otherwise it stays in the same gear and plods along. The interior is bland, however the nav is good as is the sensor for parking, you get a radar style visualisation. Its certainly fast enough and holds the road like its glued. I've driven the is250 and found that to be a better drive. Its well built, comfortable and fast enough for uk roads. It might not be bmw fast but thats the choice you have to make.
  15. I know where you're coming from. It maybe a small crime but its an anoying one. Mine were nicked last week went i was at the local fitness centre. It must have been kids that took mine, however they only took the ones on the rear wheels. Guess they needed two for their bikes. They could have put their old ones as a good guesture.
  16. Just how heavy is this caravan ? The IS220d has 400nm or 295foot pounds of torque @ 2000rpm which is the same as the freelander. It'll also have a better power to weight ratio (maybe) just be a bit pap in muddy grass, but nothing the wife or kids couldn't help with ;-) personally i'd go the top gear route and get an evo to tow a caravan, loads of torque and its 4x4. you never see an r34 gtr towing a caravan either.
  17. You really have to be impressed by level of quality on this project. Its just amazing.
  18. Can the ecu not be replaced with an aftermarket one like HKS etc which would allow for "any garage" to carry out mapping ?
  19. I cant see why not, gps is gps it's an american standard and from what i understand it tends to be the same hardware as you would find in a euro car. unless they region lock the players. best bet will be to tip up at a garage and ask them if you can give it try.
  20. 1gb ram is kinda standard these days, 2gb makes the whole system run really smoothly. Especially if you are going to be doing any video, the more ram the better.
  21. I've been running a mac mini for 2yrs now and dont miss windows at all. I've started messing around with video on it and the stuff you get bundled with it does the job nicely. The new aluminum imacs look sweet and are nicely spec'd. Also unlike windows you dont need to keep updating the hardware to keep up with software. Get 2gig of ram in it and you'll be flying. The new o/s leopard looks to be the best os-x yet, i'm gonna buy it when its released. Luckily apple os updates dont cost the earth or confuse the heck of out of you like microsoft.
  22. Oddly enough my clutch is causing a slight judder and my mileage is around the 40k. Didn't use to do it and i've had my is200 since new. Therefore i've come to the conclusion that its just wear and tear, probably due to the fact that my clutch takes a beating as i ride it quite bit. Also you need to remember the is200 engine likes a bit of revs going through it so thats probably not helping the clutch either. To get round the problem for now i just give the car a few more revs and bring up the clutch slowly and move into 2nd as soon as possible from moving off. Not the most clutch friendly way of driving but it'll do till i can pony up for a new one. And trust me the clutch on a juddery is200 is miles more pleasing than the stone-age clutch thats in a v6 vectra ;)
  23. It's certainly worth the trip, i'm near Hull and made the trip to see the doc and wasn't dissapointed. It really needed doing since my coilovers were installed, the difference is noticable as soon as you turn the wheel.
