  1. it looks like it should work. i am asumming that the uk and us cars have the same radios in them which would mean the unit would work. $200 is a fair amount of cash to waste if the gadget doesnt work.
  2. http://www.soundgate.com/index.php?request...goryid=223& Would this product work on the is200 ? i noticed it works on the is300 and i'm assuming the radios are the same in the 200 and 300. bit pricey though at $200usd.
  3. Very nice. Can you tell me where you got your ipod adapter from and if they do one for the is200 ?
  4. good job i didn't do yearly sub then. i liked the mag, not too techy, some nice pics and normalish people in it. i'd have thought there would have been a big market for it, all the other car mags regarding tuning i dont really like as they seem rather juvenille (bar the odd 1 or 2).
  5. Thanks for the tips, i'll do the checks this weekend. For the record my friend was sat in the passenger seat, so i guess he may have caught the wire. Its been fine all this week though.
  6. Driving back from London last sunday and was quite happily crusing along till i hear a loud beeping sound coming from the edfc box. Its displaying Front EL, all three memory buttons are flashing red and it made 3 beeps in total. Pulled over shut the engine down and powered back on, tested the motors with a friend listening to them and all was ok. Back on the motorway, 10mins later the same. Pull over again somewhere safe and did the same test, again all motors working. So set them up to 15/16 turned off the box and carried on home, got about 10-15mins from home, pulled into a petrol station and turned the box back on and got home with no errors. Also worked fine today with no errors, about a 20min drive from home in traffic. Anyone shed some light on what all that was about ? The beeping freaked me out as it took me a few seconds to figure what was beeping. Mate rekons it could be the cable to the front left motor.
  7. I run a mac mini (intel) and i havent looked back since. ok it was pricey, but it does the job and i get zero headaces from it. well that and it runs silent. you can put windows on it, and it does work. it all depends on what you want to do. if you want to play games, go for the pc or if you like building systems. mac is a closed system so its stable, there arent as much apps out there, but if internet/email and office apps are all you need thens its great (open office is free :-) )
  8. omph, that certainly is cheaper. i'm off to tescos next time.
  9. I used to use optimax till the price hike came along, you could definately feel the difference compared to ron 95. more beef at the higher rev range and the engine sounded smoother. The other day i filled up on v-power, this time you could really hear the difference between 95 and 99. It just sounded more purposeful, really made the straight 6 sing. Today when i booted the car to over take someone it really pulled away, found myself hitting the limiter as i wasnt expecting the power to come in like it did. Have noticed that you get crap fuel ecconomy though, possibly due to the higher burn rate and it wasnt cheap (100.9).
  10. oh the plot sucked alright, but like so many pap films its actually very entertaining. kinda like bill shatner singing. you know its wrong and shouldn't like it but you do. worth watching, just dont think and enjoy it for what it is.
  11. i find with the teins they seem to complement the car more on road use than the standard suspension, i cant comment on track use yet. they take away alot of the roll and give the car more point. they aint cheap though. i've not really used the edfc much, only to show off really:-) , its something different that most people dont have and it does allow you to tailor your setup easily. having said that i'm on 15 front and 16 back for everyday driving, which is a bit more firmer than stock. the good thing with teins is that they also off a refurb service on them as well and you get a load of stickers in the box. cij, i got mine fitted at charlesworth motors near manchester, but seeing as you are from sunderland thats a fair drive, for me it was a 160 mile round trip but i can safely that they did a sterling job at reasonable price to boot.
  12. i personally dont think its worth it yet. i've just ordered sky+ instead after toying with both ideas. i'll be honest hd-tv is nice but its not as earth shattering as the media would have you believe. most of the content is up scaled standard tv anyway, its only on the true hd material you would notice it being more sharper and more vibrant. i've seen a few demos and i'm not that impressed, however i have been using computers in very high resoultions for a while so that could be why. personally i'd wait till there are more channels for hd and more content filmed in hd and for the extra £10 sub to be included in the premium channel package. if you are unsure pop into your local comet, most are demoing the hd box at the moment.
  13. when i had a via epia system i used pc2100 ddr ram, however i think it will take up to pc2700. i cant remember too well, but its in the manual near the front where it outlines the features of the motherboard. the only other thing i can suggest is to try a pci video card if you can find one.
  14. is the ram seated properly and is it compatible with the motherboard ?
  15. can you fit arb's yourself or is it going to get complicated ?
  16. What make are the arb's you've install mr.iceman ? i was looking at the tein performance bar but i dont think they do an is200 one yet.
  17. Quality day today, drove up to charlesworth motors to get the teins installed. The guys there have done a bang up job, a very clean installation. I am most impressed with the edfc unit which in all fairnes is probably over kill for me, heck the whole setup is probably more than i need. I have to say that you can really notice the difference, the drive home was a mix of twisty hilly roads and motorways. Even on a soft setting (15, 16) the ride feels firmer and the car responds more readily. Compared to the old shocks body roll has reduced by a very big margin. The only thing left to do is get the car a fully geometry and sort the tracking (its a little off and hardly noticable). In short if you want to spend some readies on suspension i would defo recommend the tein type flex. On a different note, they also mentioned that they can do turbo installs.
  18. that doesnt look like a toyota v8, more like one of the generals v8s but i could be wrong.
  19. if you want hdtv on it make sure the video card you buy is hdcp compatible. theres only a handful of them at the mo. there is a radeon that has hdcp and hdmi + good old rgbv on it. i aint to sure about all this hdtv stuff, i reckon it'll it'll get hacked eventually anyway, but just incase it doesnt get a hdcp compliant card. mac mini's also make great media centres and are tiny and quiet.
  20. the bmw stand is pretty non descript, if they had the new m3 there they would have stole the show. lexus stand fairly small. hondas stand not bad, seat had the ladies and every thing else was run of the mill. having said that i had been to the swiss motor show, and i can say that was the better event. did notice a nice car from a company called connaught, they had a 2ltr supercharged v10 that looked rather nice.
  21. can some one pm me with steves details please.
  22. it maybe a trip down to tdi. i've tried getting in touch with tdi north, but when i rang i was told to email them so i did (twice) and haven't gotten a response. i dunno maybe they are busy with stuff. as you say chips, the edfc does need installing properly and i would like a garage that has installed them before to do the job. i'd feel more happier know that the installer has installed the system before.
  23. Having got the type flex and edfc, i need it installing. Can anyone recommend somewhere around the east or west yorkshire region to do the job. Failing that i'll ask if my lexus garage will do the job.
  24. You might find this site useful http://www.lextreme.com/ all about lexus/toyota v8's uuummmm v8
  25. Ordered the kit last week, just waiting for the goods to arrive and then i need to get them fitted. Whats a good drop level to go for ? Dont want it too low as going over speed bumps might become tricky. How do i get it to say Gold on the left handside. I've gone gold, is there something i need to do ?
