  1. Does anyone know who makes the plug/socket for the is200 radio or the part number for it. I'm hoping to make my own is200 -> iso connector for adding and aftermarket radio and i dont want to cut into the wires. I will be bypassing the stock amp completly, and using the new radios amp to power the stock fronts and new 6x9 rears. Assuming all goes well.
  2. i gave these guys a ring, and they told me there was no is200 wiring lead. i have to admit to not asking to speak to dean though.
  3. how much for the glove box and dash tray ? i'm assuming the dash tray is the jdm with the lid.
  4. Hi i've found this adaptor and would like to know if it will fit the is200 radio connector. it looks like it might, but i've only seen pictures of the radio lead.
  5. Could you tell us the part numbers for the facia and wiring harness please. Wouldn't mind having some mp3 action in the lex myself. looks sweet by the way.
  6. Found this on the internet and thought it was quite a good idea http://cars.ign.com/articles/537/537787p1.html
  7. i've noticed that i tend to have a problem with the lower end of the BM* market (or as a friend of mine would put it "the poverty models") and the BM* 4x4 sector. i reckon they think just becuase they have beemer it makes them better than other car drivers. but lets look at it like this :- 1) engines are under powered 2) interior is dull as dish water 3) every man and his dog has a 3 series, inc m3's which are becoming very common these days 4) you pay well over the odds for a german equiv of a ford mondeo 5) 9 times out of ten, its a prat driving many a time have i burned off people riding my tail in a 316-323, or let them overtake me only for me to burn them off 3sec later on a dual or motorway. man i am glad to get that off my chest, and know that other people on the road share my pain ;-)
  8. Go to this web page :- http://auto.howstuffworks.com/ its the best website ever for finding out......how stuff works. the link above is for the auto section. you can find out about all sorts of engines, turbos, superchargers, vtec, pushrod, flats, rotary and hemi's (sweet). I went to this website to understand the basics of how engines work. it opened my eyes up to just how many factors you have to take into consideration when modding the block. Unfortunately i've yet to moddify my little is200's block :-(
  9. IS200, i cant help wondering where do i go from here ? my first car was a rover turbo diesel 1.8, so the lex was a huge step up. So i thought IS300, S2000, Monaro, new Mustang GT, 350z. I canned BM* after pricing up a 325ci. Is the IS300 a big step up in terms of performance compared to the IS200 ? And how does it far up against a supercharged one ? Also, it may be me, but i noticed to today that in 1st gear around 6k revs the engine kinda sounds a porsche. Like i said it may be just me.
  10. I've found some info on the ford cammer engine, not sure if it will fit in an is200. it is a rather "big block". http://www.performanceparts.ford.com/parts...rtKeyField=6787 or there are other engines for sale at this site, and most of those seem to offer crazy power. http://www.performanceparts.ford.com/crateengine/main.asp
  11. Whens the next meet scheduled ? I didnt know that there was one going in hull. I'll have to start making my lex a bit more personallised one of these days.
  12. Your speed thing sounds odd for the car to fail. I measured my speed with a gps and mine appears to be about 3mph out, and the same also applies on my friends vectra. But that could be the sat delay kicking in, however i did have around 20 sats connected to the gps so my readings were pretty spot on.
  13. I had a similar problem at work once. If you can join a union, then i'd recommend it as its a form of covering your back, and they also can give you free legal advise and how to tackle the problem in hand. I also kept back-up copies of all the e-mails i was sent, by printing them and forwarding them onto my home e-mail account. I also kept my head down and did my job so that there was no dirt on me. I found this method to be the best way of "sticking it to the man". Might not work for everyone though.
  14. what i like about it, is that it looks unsuspecting. m3 and amg owners better beware.
  15. Unfortunately last week, tdi called me to tell me that the K&N filter was for supercharged models only, so the order was cancelled. :-( So now i have no first mod. Its a sad, sad story in more ways than one.
  16. I've been looking at the TRD and Toms filters, but i just cant seem to decide if i should get one or not. The though of putting a HKS back box has now entered my head to further complicate the matter.
  17. Just a quick question, is it worth changing the stock air filter for an after market one like trd or tomms ? i did have the k&n version on order but had to cancel as it was for the supercharger and i'm only n.a. please dont suggest the induction kit or supercharger, i'm trying (currently failing) to save my cash to purchase an old camaro or mustang.
  18. Just ordered a K&N panel filter for my is200 from tdi. unfortunately no gold discount :-( Cant wait to try it out and see if makes the bottom range a bit more responsive than normal. I feel thats one the weak points with is200 engine. Needs a bit more oommphh.
  19. Taekwondo boy here, although i used to do wing chun and various other stuff when i was a student. I still stuck at it though after 4years and am still a green belt as i am for lack of better words....lazy.
  20. So i gather then that no-one likes my stupid suggestion of ramming an american "small block" v8 into the begger.
  21. I thought that chrysler sold rover the v8 engines. Have you thought about the small block LS1 engine at all, dunno if that would fit though. The americans version of small and rest of the worlds version of small does differ some what. Just for a laugh though download the callaway parts list, they have a heavily modded LT1 (twin turbo) which is know as the supernatural for sale at round $13k. A pic on the engine can be found here http://www.callawaycars.com/Corvette/supernatural_engine.htm Parts pdf (2.4meg) http://www.callawaycars.com/From_home/dlcat.htm
  22. Just had a quick look on the k&n website, and i noticed that they now do IS200 air filters. Has anyone tried it yet in their is200 ? one my friends used to use the 57i cone filter on his vectra 2.6 v6, which made it sound evil. You could hear him before you saw the car so to speak. I'm considering getting one , so if any suppliers are reading this out there can you give a rough price for it please. Thanks.
  23. At least you guys get options for your broadband provider. I stuck with the delights of kingston communictions. Took them 2 days to get my line working, and they said it was my equipment. It was just kc being incompetent like usual. Once the service gets going though its quite quick. 522k down and 288 up.
  24. Dunno if you guys have seen this yet or not, so i'll post it anyway. http://www.nemesisperformance.net/ If you go to that website and click on the section "projects" you'll see a pic of the is200, go to that project and have a read. If basic car knowledge serves me correct, i thought it was quite difficult to transplant different manufactures enigne's into different cars. However it would appear that these guys have done it.
  25. does anyone where i can get a tom's racing stainless steal mug and a rough price for it ? i need a mug for work so that i can my drink coffee.
