this is most confusing, the altezza grill and badge belong on toyota altezza which is as different from an is200 as a beams 4cyl is different from a lexus 6cyl. didn`t think much of the bikini filler either :) :) cheers, gds

hello, do your new keys work my latest researches in the key saga reveal that toyota uk get there keys cut by a company called "access and locks and keys" in margate but they only deal with toyota. i have also been in touch with a member " masashi san" in japan. "san" is a form of respect added to japanese names" he has found out from a toyota dealer that domestic toyotas do not have the key/lock number on the key but on a small metal tag given to the buyer. if this is lost the number is behind the panel on the drivers door. with this the japanese dealer can get another key. have yet to find out about the immobiliser problem. cheers, gds

Since the 30k is a small service and no electrics or electronics are involved, what does your suspicious mind think could have been done???????? My altezza has a standard BEAMS with no special tune-up parts according to my techies. So sorry cannot help the cry for" tune-up" bits. Cheers, gds

:o :o :duh: :duh: yes one of the toyota/90919-02236/DENSO ignition coils exploded at 40mph. symptons engine just reached operating temp after a nights rest and starting ok then became lumpy with low revs at traffic lights, thought it would stall. returned home and called my friendly techie who had serviced (30k) the day before. The top came off to expose a coil with nothing left above the electrical socket. WARNING if this happens stop using the car which will be pumping neat fuel mixture into your exhaust system If no stock of the part in UK, must be the above part, 15 working days from Japan . Stay lucky, this car has not been over 90mph in the UK, I doubt if it went that fast in Japan. Cheers, gds

hello, still on a journey of discovery round my 1999 altezza using a japanese owners handbook, i have found that behind the glovebox there is behind a plastic door a slot for a filter above a fan. there is no filter in place, what do members know about the spec for this filter and can it be got from halfords et al, cheers, gds

have you tried your local yellow pages for a small jobbing metal turning outfit? even if you do, it will not be cheap for a one-off. you should try and make contact with a model engineering club. whoever you find willing to give you a quote you will have to provide dimensions plus thred details. good luck, if you can`t find help in ***`s own, forget it. cheers, gds

what is required for a valid mot cert for a modern car is for the gas analyser to issue a pass of the exhaust gases at the date of the test. it is then the responsibility of the operator to see that it does not fail the pollution levels. :) :) gds
