  1. well that's a bit of a bummer, but cheers for the warning! :) i'll take a look asap to see what's going on! I was wondering where all the fluid had gone actually, but i dont recall seeing any puddles underneath the car...
  2. Welcome to da club! :) sounds like you did a pretty good deal indeed! dont suppose you'd wanna swap? B)
  3. Fixed the problem! thanks to your helpfull comments; I checked the fluid level, it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down, so i put some more in, and my LS is as quiet as it was before again! :D wish I could fix everything this cheaply and easily!
  4. say.. what's happned to this? we going karting or what?
  5. hey there! welcome to the club! :D unfortunately i know nothing about what level of alarm the LS400's got, I just said Thatcham1 on my application, I can vouch it's working though, just had it go off when i tried to open the bonnet after locking the car! :)
  6. how about this? 01(51) JAGUAR XJR 4.0 Supercharged 4.0 Litre engine, Automatic, Saloon, Anthracite Black, 35000 miles, Cruise Control CD Auto Changer Power Fold Back MirrorsSatellite Navigation Sports Interior Theme Sports Seats £29995. fits most of the bill, doesnt it? B)
  7. bummer m8, hope you'll get it back up and running again soon! :-D may I suggest you buy a jaguar starter motor..? ...it's the only part on mine that never failed!
  8. hey mate! blimey didn't know i'd be missed that soon! Good to know of course! :) the car you saw wasn't mine, got the brakes fixed and everything, went on hols to Greece for a week meeting the future in-laws ( ) and then spend a week driving family around the country.:D car's been great, family was impressed of course, did 800 miles in 3 all around wales and the the peak district. There's some great roads out there!
  9. Hey guys, thanks for that! i'll certainly have a look at the power steering fluid-level tonite, and the belt :) unfortunately my missus doesnt whine all that much yet, otherwise i could just chuck her out! hey Loz, got yourself some NoS eh :D cool man! you know how much bhp it's got now when you've got it switched on? :zee:
  10. Hi guys and girls of of course! ;) just came back from holidays and now my LS seems to have developed the nasty habit of whining a lot when i'm doing a lot of steering at low speeds. :yack: I'm fearing this might be the power steering pump, could someone please tell me this isnt the case, and that it's something really cheap to easy to fix instead? :) thanks!
  11. lets not forget certain ladies doing their make up whilst talking on the phone doing 71 in the right lane with two empty lanes next to them which they dont seem to notice untill I finaly decide that i've got no other choice but to use them to overtake them on the inside, upon which they swerve all over the place unable to decide what to do next! and boy racers and other a**holes driving right up my **** whilst i'm stuck in a queue, cant they f***ing see I cant go anywhere either??
  12. timing chain? my old jag had the same, never got it fixed though, that's why i sold it! maybe it's not getting enough air?
  13. Guten Tag Gerd, wilkommen zum Lexus Owners Club! Leider ist mein deutsch nicht so gut wie mein English aber ich hoffe sie werden allem was sie benodigen hier finden :D
  14. looked very impressive, even to a complete non-techie like yours truly! wondering what it'd be like to drive... B) did notice there were some bit's missing! atleast mine wasn't the only lexus that went home on a stretcher....
  15. Thanks m8, great to meet you too! hope next time i'll meet even more people, when's that karting event up north happening again? B) well i gotta see the fun side in it, was my own fault afterall seeing i knew it was gonne have to give in sometime. And the RAC guy was very helpfull I must say, he could've refused to do anything about it seeing I knew there was something wrong with the brakes but he choose to forget to mention that in his report so that they'd tow me back, otherwise i'd have been in even worse :doggy: doo-doo! so :respect: for that to the RAC man! quite enjoying driving in the focus.... makes you realise why the Lex is so special and worth the premium you pay for it!
  16. Had a good time too, great to actually meet some people from here in real life! just wish i'd come on saturday and not on sunday as i did! by the time i got there things had started to slow down a little.. After setting of an hour late, and a 2 hour drive. we spend another half hour trying to carefully manouvre the Lex through the crowds without crushing someone's toes, got stuck at the Skyline corner behind a pile of garbage which took us 10 mins to negotiate, and if it wasnt for my girlfriend spotting the Lexus banners I doubt we'd have found it! I was actually a man on a mission trying to find Insider, even though I had no contact number, no idea what he looked like, nor what car he was in! obviously my girlfriend was impressed with my organisational skills at that moment in time expressing some serious doubt as to me finding him! :D Obviously me being an optimist I said all would be fine, and as soon as we arrived at the Lexus pitch I set of to find him. Or anyone else... I had somewhat overlooked the fact that maybe not everyone would be sitting next to their car with their name tags on waiting for newbies like me to come and ask them questions all weekend long.. Luckily I spotted the familiar hairdo of Ryan (Rhaines) staggering accross the pitch, so I introduced myself and asked him if he knew Insider. he confirmed he was there and that he was " a tall bloke", which obviously dramatically increased my knowledge of the man! Sadly there appeared to be rather a lot of people that fit that description so I figured I'll just see what happens and I set off to have a look at the other cars. I then had the pleasure of engaging in conversation with fellow newbie John with whom I had a nice chat concerning Lexi, volvo and DVD navigation systems, and he pointed out Zee and Loz to me I approached both gentleman who proudly showed me their cars ( still dont quite get how Zee managed to drive 3 cars to the show..?? :P) Anyway, they were able to point Insider's car out to me so I now knew he was still at the show, and they kindly promised to let him know i was there in case they spotted him I returned to my car and had a wander around the Lexus pitch again, admiring the IS 430 (what a great sound!!) and the Monster, and the nice line-up of Soarers on show. by the time i wandered back to my car my girlfriend had tracked down Mr Insider, so we did our bussiness, and we had a wander around the rest of the site to look at all the other cars (her favourite car.. :) ) anyway, when we had done the round we wandered back to the car, drove off and after 30 mins of so of rather slow progress we still hadnt got very far, and to make matters worse, the brake pads fell of the car!!! this was not exactly what I needed, breaking down in the middle of the Exodus out of JAE!! i managed to pull to the side, phoned the RAC, they came to the rescue, I had to wait for a tow-truck, they couldnt find one big enough for the car ( ), then they couldnt find a driver that had enough time on his schedule to get it all the way home, so they gave me a courtesy car. So I drove in with a Lexus and out with a Ford Focus! ah well atleast it brakes properly... :D anyway, hopefully i can get it fixed today and all will be fine. Atleast the JAE 2003 was, for me, an experience not to be forgotten, and I'll certainly be back next time! ...on Saturday! Many thnx to Rhaines, Loz and Zee for the assistance, Insider for the hardware and John for the conversation!
  17. hi! welcome to the club! I can commend your choice of weapon! :) just bought one myself, so dont know too much about them yet, all i can say is, check everytyhing's working, check all the electrics etc, make sure it's got it's FSH, and take it for a long drive to check for calipers checking and all that which year you thinking of buying? try and buy as new as possible, the older one's are beginning to show their age, or so I've been told... oh and do a search on here for LS400, there's plenty more advice in the archives
