  1. Not sure how to remove the bonding glue. The lip should be fixed with a couple of screws under the lip and the bonding glue. You could try a hairdrier, don't get it too close and it shouldn't affect the paintwork and don't heat it up too quickly. Paint is designed to stand up to high heat, feel the temperature of your roof when the sun has been on it for a couple of hours in the summer. You will probably still need some chemical to fully remove it, don't know what to use without damaging the paint.
  2. RE050 probably has too stiff a side wall for you considering you have also just lowered the tyre profile. Too much change at once? RE050 are standard fit to things like the Honda S2000 sports car, not really a luxury tyre.
  3. The table is correct but just because a rim has an offset within that range doesn't mean it will feel 100% unless you get the wheel geometry set up corectly. RX wheels wouldn't be correct. The correct size tyre for 17" rims is 235/45/17 and the IS rims are really too thin being only 7". 17" GS rims are 7.5" wide.
  4. You can never change your oil too often but I don't see the point in changing every 6k with the type of engine you have and the journeys you do. It's not like you have a turbo or highly modified engine that is putting the oil under high stress. Changing at the recommended intervals using fully synthetic oil, your engine will probably be good for at least 300k miles.
  5. try moving the valves from side to side to see if you can hear the air leaking. If that's the problem then try pulling then with some pliers otherwise you will need new valves.
  6. You have the standard CC. Adaptive is the radar/laser guided system that will adjust speed if there is something in front of you. You also get the pre-crash safety system but these two things are a £2k option.
  7. cheers for the advice? i think i will to be on the safe said.where do u recommed?how much will it cost? should i avoid getting one from the dealer? ← The problem with the stock battery is it's just too small being only 45Ah. Doesn't matter where you get it from just make sure it has a higher capacity but will still physically fit. A good one shouldn't cost you more than £60 maximum.
  8. The fluid will always be circulating, the engine should be running when you check the level.
  9. Make sure you bring down the level, overfilling is not good for the transmission.
  10. Yes Toyota plugs have been designed for long life, 60 or 100k miles. The Denso power plugs are the high performance ones, I don't think they are any different to the HKS or TRD ones.
  11. Not all the US settings are available for UK vehicles. Lexus GB won't allow me to publish the UK settings so you need to ask your dealer (who probably won't know) or Lexus customer services.
  12. get a new battery. The standard one isn't up to much.
  13. I don't know, I thought they were. Either way it certainly wasn't from the factory as the sport is created from a factory SE when it arrives in the UK.
  14. IS wheels are too thin for those size tyres. The IS wheels are too thin for the GS and have a different offset. What tyres did you use? You have told us the range of tyre, Potenzas, but there are 4 different types, some of which are not that good. Going to a 60/70 profile will put your speedo well out if you are keeping the same width. I would also recommend you get your wheel geometry set up correctly. That may well sort out your fighting with the steering wheel.
  15. Dextron II or III will be fine then. Don't see the point in using Mobil 1 and then draining every 5 or 6k unless all you do is just 2 or 3 mile journeys. The service schedule is every 9 or 10k and that's without specifying fully synthetic.
  16. Well I would say the RX has 7 way seats not 8 but yes both front seats on the UK RX300 have lumbar and base tilt.
  17. checked the wiring diagram and there is a shift lock solenoid.
  18. I thought the button was locked unless the pedal was pressed? I may be wrong, it's a long time since I've driven a series I. It's normally the case though, it is on my RX.
  19. Possibly the solenoid that stops the selector being moved needs cleaning or the brake pedal sensor switch is playing up.
  20. The wastegate is operated by a vacuum actuator. This vacuum is applied to the wastegate actuator via a VSV (Vacuum Switching Valve). This valve is a bit like a tap. When it opens the path is opened between the wastegate and the intake -ve pressure. The opening and closing of the valve is controlled electronically by the ECU. There is no mechanical boost controller on the 2JZ-GTE engine. Add on boost controllers control the vacuum getting to the wastegate after the VSV and therefore can increase the boost. As the add on boost controller is after the VSV you cannot reduce the boost below stock because the ECU has control over the VSV and therefore the boost controller cannot do anything until that opens.
  21. 1 - possibly not. As soon as you start the engine the old and new fluid would be mixed so you would never get all the old fluid out, there would just be less and less with each drain. You would have to disconnect the pipe going back from the cooler to the transmission, start the car and let out 1 litre. Stop the engine, add 1 litre then repeat until you see clean fluid. This may be difficult in your case because your fluid will probably be very clean anyway. 2. Drive the car for at least 15 minutes. Park on level ground. Slowly move the selector through all position down to L and then back to P pausing 1 second at each position. With the engine still running check the level against the HOT range on the dipstick. 4. Good enough. 5. Not sure, I will try and find out the best way. Use T-IV fluid.
  22. Do you need the size of an Amazon? Standard LC may be a better option.
  23. The ECU monitors boost via a pressure sensor and opens the wastegate by opening a VSV. If the ECU is reprogrammed the boost can be increased. HKS Iridium plugs are just rebadged Denso. I would say you would need super unleaded fuel or octane booster if you have a reprogrammed ECU unless TOMS tell you otherwise. The standard ECU has mappings for lower grade fuel but TOMS may have programmed it thinking that only 100 RON is being used.
