  1. Well I would say the RX has 7 way seats not 8 but yes both front seats on the UK RX300 have lumbar and base tilt.
  2. checked the wiring diagram and there is a shift lock solenoid.
  3. I thought the button was locked unless the pedal was pressed? I may be wrong, it's a long time since I've driven a series I. It's normally the case though, it is on my RX.
  4. Possibly the solenoid that stops the selector being moved needs cleaning or the brake pedal sensor switch is playing up.
  5. The wastegate is operated by a vacuum actuator. This vacuum is applied to the wastegate actuator via a VSV (Vacuum Switching Valve). This valve is a bit like a tap. When it opens the path is opened between the wastegate and the intake -ve pressure. The opening and closing of the valve is controlled electronically by the ECU. There is no mechanical boost controller on the 2JZ-GTE engine. Add on boost controllers control the vacuum getting to the wastegate after the VSV and therefore can increase the boost. As the add on boost controller is after the VSV you cannot reduce the boost below stock because the ECU has control over the VSV and therefore the boost controller cannot do anything until that opens.
  6. 1 - possibly not. As soon as you start the engine the old and new fluid would be mixed so you would never get all the old fluid out, there would just be less and less with each drain. You would have to disconnect the pipe going back from the cooler to the transmission, start the car and let out 1 litre. Stop the engine, add 1 litre then repeat until you see clean fluid. This may be difficult in your case because your fluid will probably be very clean anyway. 2. Drive the car for at least 15 minutes. Park on level ground. Slowly move the selector through all position down to L and then back to P pausing 1 second at each position. With the engine still running check the level against the HOT range on the dipstick. 4. Good enough. 5. Not sure, I will try and find out the best way. Use T-IV fluid.
  7. Do you need the size of an Amazon? Standard LC may be a better option.
  8. The ECU monitors boost via a pressure sensor and opens the wastegate by opening a VSV. If the ECU is reprogrammed the boost can be increased. HKS Iridium plugs are just rebadged Denso. I would say you would need super unleaded fuel or octane booster if you have a reprogrammed ECU unless TOMS tell you otherwise. The standard ECU has mappings for lower grade fuel but TOMS may have programmed it thinking that only 100 RON is being used.
  9. Is that battery replacement free? Or do you have to pay more to have that done? This is really tough, although in my view, the only advantage in the ipods favour is that all the manufacturers are making integration kits for ipods, otherwise I'd have the sony one hands down Also, can you just dump mp3s onto an ipod, or do they all have to go through itunes and be converted into a different format? ← ipods can play mp3s, don't need to be converted just need to to use iTunes for the ipod to see them as music files. If you just copy them they are just data files. Battery replacement isn't free, unless you do it yourself. I would have an iPod over a Sony Walkman every time.
  10. I would have brought the car if it had a Toyota badge. I still believe Toyota GB made a mistake by badging the IS and a Lexus. They could have taken 2k or 3k off the price and sold loads. The IS never fitted in with the Lexus image in 1999 when it came out.
  11. I'm the 4th vote for the sport wheels. Just look after them and get the rear wheel geometry sorted so it doesn't eat rear tyres.
  12. I wonder if that is just a mounting or wiring issue. The headunit is the same so MD emulation should still work.
  13. Fuelling to 500bhp - you will need bigger injectors? On a US Supra it's possible because it has bigger injectors as standard.
  14. you certainly shouldn't do that because it will damage the cats. Also not going to be easy with an auto transmission.
  15. I would think 90% of LS owners use 95RON and don't have a problem.
  16. they will be fine with optimax. Does the extra mpg offset the extra cost - probably not.
  17. the system is very cool but very expensive. Matt will the group buy include the video input models as well?
  18. Just the costs for the car - about that same as you for my GS430. One service and one MOT a year and a couple of tyres every year or two. At some point there will be some extra expense - brake pads, new fog light glass or a ball joint etc. but nothing in the two years I've had it.
  19. I would because when you then have to change the pads you have to drain some out because it would go over the maximum. Unless you have a leak the amount of fluid in the system will remain the same, no need to add any and by opening the reservoir you just let moisture in.
