  1. Yes that could be an option. The Sat Nav unit outputs an RGB signal that other screens can use. The main problem, and I guess why Lexus didn't put in a touch screen, is the location of the screen isn't ideal - you cannot really reach out and touch the screen from a driving position.
  2. my 2000 sport also had 8. They just aren't easy to see.
  3. I thought SE and Sport have always had 8 speakers since the 1999 UK launch?
  4. The SE and sport models are 8 speaker systems. There are two speakers in each of the rear speaker enclosures.
  5. bulbs aren't covered under warranty and would normal last 5 year + so there really isn't a need to make them that accessable. Seems strange that both would go at the same time.
  6. I would say it's a faulty convertor not the actual speed sensor.
  7. it won't be a lead - the IS doesn't have them. Could be a coil pack. However you should also check/clean the throttle boby and check TPS is adjusted correctly.
  8. The difference between the Lexus OEM and standard isn't the rim protector, both have that. The Lexus OEM has a stiffer sidewall. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge...ex_v2&id=88&c=5
  9. Remember to convert any US figures so you can compare with the UK. Divide a US mpg by 0.83. As an example 22mpg in the US would be 26.5mpg here. We use real gallons here in the UK which are based on real pints ;)
  10. GS uses different standard offset and the standard 17" GS wheels are wider than the IS 17" wheels.
  11. It may be that dealers are drilling the holes. Some Lexus dealers use tape, you just need to use the correct type and it won't come off. You are more likely to have the plastic screws break and the plate fall off.
  12. Pull the whole ashtray assembly out and then you will be able to pull out the surround (pull up at the back when the switches are and then pull up and backwards to release from where it locates near the stereo). It will only come up a small amount, enough to get your hands in to disconnect the wiring going to the switches. Once they are disconnected the whole thing will lift away.
  13. keys aren't programmed they have a set code, the vehicle is programmed to accept certain keys. Yes you are able to wipe all keys from the system and just program your remaining ones. Give your dealer a call, they may even do it for free.
  14. spinrite from GRC is the best non professional hard drive surface testing and recovery tool. Unless you format a drive at least 7 times over it's possible to recover anything, just costs £1000s to get it done.
  15. There have been a number of these cases on Toyota engines. I believe all of them have been without a flashlube.
  16. upgrade is expensive but you don't really have a choice. Most people don't tend to update with every new release due to the cost.
  17. The older discs has AISIN written on them as does the box it came in. The Nav disc also contains the OS/firmware updates, not just map data, and that software would be written by AISIN. If the Toyota disc is £200 then buy that. Around 2001 the company name stopped being written on the disc so they didn't have to produce two different ones, one for Lexus and another for Toyota - they are the same. However as you have a 2000 model you will have a 1st gen dvd unit and I don't think any Toyotas where sold with the full colour touch screen at that time (maybe the Amazon).
  18. yes it does sound like a damaged sensor.
  19. How much is your allowance? Must be a lot if you don't spend much of it and you have an IS. Over three years you will lose over £10k just on it's value and then you have insurance and servicing costs etc.
  20. you cannot make the sat nav unit play a dvd, you have to use a DVD player and hack into the wiring to get the display on the LCD. You can get update sat nav discs from Lexus - cost around £350. Don't think they have post code function yet.
  21. A 400h doesn't have 211bhp. You cannot compare a 400h with a 3.2 diesel. The 400h isn't just about economy, if it was they would have launched the 240h or 300h. The 400h should be compared to other 4.0l vehicles - then it does have very good mpg figures.
  22. If you do a search you will find many threads about this. Removing the pre cats only won't really give you much of an increase because there are also other restrictions. Also change the exhaust and intake and remap the fuel and you will benefit.
  23. The clutch isn't great but there are more complaints about poor gear change between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd than anything else. I must admit the IS gearbox always reminded me of my Supra TT box - that also had a poor gearchange in normal driving but at least you had the excuse it was a powerful sports car not a so call luxury car where you expect a smooth box.
  24. There's no impact on the O2 sensors, they are before the pre cats and after the main cat. Impact of removing it - your emmisions will be high until the main cat gets up to temperature which can take a while. Not a problem in the UK as the vehicle will still pass our MOT test provided the tester lets things get nice and hot.
  25. Yeah sorry about that, it should have read: ok at 4,664 rpm your torque was 210. Now look at your power graph at 4,664 rpm - that looks to be around 190bhp, which is what you calculated.
