  1. Due to lack of technological knowhow a pic might be difficult I am unsure as to fitting them in case I need to take them back I have been told that vented would be better - I shall let you all know, if I don't die going round the first bend........
  2. The vented discs are completely identical, but about 1mm thicker, but my ones are kinda worn anyway. Will it make any difference??
  3. Checked with Lucas too - they only supply vented rear discs across the IS range - very odd
  4. .....and make what........
  5. Went to buy rear discs and pads for '99 IS200 from an aftermarket trade parts dealer He supplied me with vented discs for the rear When I queried he stated that they only supply vented rear discs for my model - he showed me the book confirming this I have spoken with another parts dealer, who states the same The discs are the same size, thickness as the solid discs Is this right - will it make any difference?

    Brakes

How I laughed when I phoned CarParts direct and asked for a price for two rear brake discs and pads A short wait later I was advised that they were £89 each plus vat and the pads were £40 plus VAT Aye right, whatever........ Having found a new set elsewhere for £80 plus vat can someone advise me how easy they are to fit, provided I remember to release the handbrake first......
  7. Don't go anywhere until you try Bell Direct (sorry dont have the number to hand) I am down to £255 this year Sweet
  8. £85 each? Is this correct? From a dealer?? I asked Lexus Edinburgh and it was £600 for REFURBISHED alloys - yes, I am not joking !! £150 each!! LEXUS EDINBURGH - can you confirm or deny any of the above??
  9. In this case, you have full rights to your deposit and to cancel any agreement as what you are paying for, isn't what you are getting. Basic rights. In addition, the dealer also has the right to cancel the deal AT ANY STAGE - he doesn't have to sell you anything he doesnt want to, regardless of deposit. Read the small print of any agreement. You'll find words to that effect. In this case however it is in his interests to have it fixed, otherwise he'll never get it sold.
  10. The reason that Lexus has retained its quality and individuality, is cause it hasn't and won't ever enter the fleet market, cause they are too dear to run. BMW/Mercedes made this mistake and their 'marque' as an individuals car went with it. A diesel Lexus? No, no, no.......... A friend of mine tried to lease a Lexus IS200 with the bank, and it was excruciatingly expensive, compared to the BMW Thats why the Lexus marque stands for quality..... Soap box now discarded.
  11. No, no, no The polish to use, which is only available to trade, is Neilsons Liquid Gold It is pure polish with no abrasives - the shine/beading lasts forever, but still doesn't stop me polishing once a week!! Sad.......... Another must, is RainX for the windows - great beading effect
  12. But this is what I use to logon !!
  13. Looks OK and reception good 8 inch, shiny like the base - much like a Honda Aerial
  14. Just received my JDM rubber antenna thru the post, all the way from California Found someone trading them by the name DJ Trading Anyone interested should email him on dj_trading@hotmail.com Total cost $25 which included shipping to UK (£13 real money) - arrived at the door within a week, on the car within a second - looks great A good deal I thought Cheers Murray :D
  15. Months later and I am still trying to sign up to GOLD When I complete the form the following appears on the screen The following errors occured: Bad input Username is invalid. Password is invalid. Who can help?
  16. HPI it Get Lexus to check it out Make sure you have all the docs. for the vehicle including documentation to prove that VAT has been paid for it or you will be liable for that too - is that why it is soo cheap?
  17. Stick with Plat. Ice Black too difficult to clean Anyway Jock, whats the point in organising these things and turning up LATE? Oh sorry that was your SATNAV which sent you to the old premises!! Gimmicks......... P.S. thought the alloys looked good 'in the flesh' Why was my car not in the line up? Would the shine have spoilt the photo? Keep it real........
  18. Besty, A man that loves a bargain - have you booked your car in at the new bodyshop to have the front end re-jigged yet (an in-house joke.......) You may have won the wine, but who got to drive the SC430 there and back You can't have it all ways....... At the next meet, we must ensure owners with other Lexus colours join - it was like the Platinum Ice Convoy as we drove along
  19. Ah, someone with something good to say about German manufacturers and their customer service - I, on the other hand have nothing good to say about them - BMW and Volkswagen in particular They make you feel out of place if you ain't buying their M3 or X5 and woe betide you if it needs sorted under warranty, in a 'but you've been using the car!!' sort of way - how dare I Then again theres always one franchise dealer to upset everyone else The good thing about Lexus is that you don't look like everyone else driving BMW and you don't look like a hairdresser with an Audi (you're not are you?). It has to be said I drove a 2.5 Audi with that new gearbox and it was particularly special. P.S. If thats your GS pic, its looks good I am now off my soapbox about German Car dealers Thank you
  20. Besty, I won't have the C/F panel, but where can I get one of those quality tartan rugs !! Murray
  21. With regards to the above If you are wary of the V5 document look at the type font - it is totally different from the kind DVLA use Furthermore, always, always, ALWAYS contact the previous keeper about the car - if you fail to make contact WALK AWAY ALWAYS resist what appears to be 'too good to be true' - there is no such thing Never EVER meet and buy at motorway services - aaargh!! the amount of people doing that still, you would not believe. The stolen documents will soon become obselete as DVLA are now issuing new EU documents, which I am told will have been issued to every registered keeper of a vehicle in the UK by June. Take care with used car buying - I unfortunately take stolen vehicles off innocent purchasers every week, without a chance of them getting their money back.
  22. Ditch your local Lexus dealer and head North The best around, would seem to be Lexus Edinburgh, who seem to be really trying to break the mould with their new showroom/bodyshop and attitude. Give Ian Reynolds (D/Principal) a try. I do not think you will be disappointed. We had a Jag 'R' Type on demo at work here recently - the guys HATED it. Yes it was stonkingly quick but overall it didn't come up to scratch. Tell us how you get on.
