  1. Thanks Mark. Because the fan is pretty much hidden under the air filter intake, its something I have never taken any notice of before.
  2. I was quite happily growing old with my MK1 GS at my side until I foolishly decided to have a drive of an LS. Now im growing old with an LS.
  3. I finally got around to changing my Timing Belt today. I thought it would be a bit of a pig but it all went well without any issues. The Belt I took off looked fine despite its 70 0dd thousand miles and the Tensioners, guides and Water pump all ran smooth so I left them alone. It wasn't that difficult to get in there once I started so I have no problem going in again if I have any problems. Something caught my eye though. I changed the Fan belt as well. It was well and truly on its last legs. I didn't have a manual so I took some photos of the job for reference. I doubled checked that the fan belt had gone on the same way the old one came off and it did. The question I have is does the fan turn Anti Clockwise? Mine does and always has unless the Belt had been fitted wrong at the last change. Just curious to know if its correct.
  4. My MK4 was converted last year. It has a multipoint system on it. The name escapes me at the moment but it runs perfectly on Gas and all the computer function work as they do on Petrol.
  5. Nice car. Thought I was looking at mine when I looked at your pictures. Identical. The colour is like Marmite. I hope you realise its just slightly upgraded with lowered springs and 17" alloys? Do a search for the DHP version. Oh, welcome by the way.
  6. After a set of MK1 Sport wheels. Not interested in the Big Rears and they don't need to have tyres. They just have to be round. Would consider an odd one here and there if a set of four doesn't come up.
  7. Turns out it was an open circuit on the front wiring. All fixed and working now.
  8. Cheers guys. I guess its a closed circuit and the light only comes on when its interupted. I'll have another play on Sunday. Its a MK4. Seems it only has sensors on the Off Side Wheels. Still looking for an answer on the Hand Brake Shoes.
  9. I've changed the Front and rear Pads expecting the Light to go out. How foolish of me. I have had a search on tinternet about this problem and it seems its down to a sensor. Before I replace or delve into it, I need to know if the handbrake Shoes have a warning system on them that will trigger the dash light. The shoes in theory should never wear due to being in use only when the vehicle is stationary but who knows whats happened with them in the last few years of changed owners. Can anyone advise?
  10. I raped and pillaged my way through that Lex in the scrappy today.
  11. I think I know the one Anuj. I quite often have a good rummage around there. Gonna pop along today.
  12. Loud pipes, black windows, big wheels and lowered suspension. Check out you tube. Loads of ideas on there.
  13. Hello and welcome. A good quality synthetic Oil and a set of Platinum plugs will sort you out. The Middle 2 plugs are a bit of a pig to change cos you have to remove the intake but i'm sure you will manage. I did remove my Door panels back in 2002 to waxoyl but can't remeber how I did it. I think they are in two parts though.
  14. It could be cheaper and quicker for you to have your Alternator repaired and get your mechanic friend to change the O ring instead of the whole pump.
  15. Hmm. Another ex XM owner. I swapped my Diesel XM for a TR7 Convertable. From the sublime to the ridiculous. Sometimes I wish I had never driven an LS. I loved my GS and it was always going to be something special to get me to change. One 99 LS the same as Mr Skeltons was offered with a big LPG tank and I haven't looked back.
  16. Hi anuj. Glad the filter was Ok for you. The mounting would have been different on yours because its a later model. I still think you should get those Caliper pistons checked. The camper has gone now.
  17. Is the standard plug gap ok for use with LPG? Mine are due a change now and I know the Gap is quite large anyway. I have always had to regap on other LPG set ups but they were all basic carb set ups.
  18. I have used Blueprint spares before. No problems with them. It would be interesting to know if both the original and pattern parts come off the same line. I'm new to the LS but not to Lexus. It seems that the front suspension is a weak point as well as the one on the GS.
  19. Can anyone tell me the differences in these items. Some are on E bay for silly money with a Toyota sticker attached and others are available for around £60. Is it just dealer prices or does the quality suffer on the cheaper ones?
  20. Get the calipers checked as mentioned previously. I tried everything on my old GS to stop the wobble and it turned out to be a sticky Brake Piston.
