  1. Why go to Toyota? Why not try a local Motor Factors? I fitted a Blue Print Belt to mine and saved a couple of hundred pound in the process.
  2. ......old MK1 GS is owned by someone on here. The reg was and may well still be N... TOC. It was named the pearl white ghost.
  3. I'm gettin shafted. Full no claims and no accidents and i'm coughing up jus under £500 for TPFT. I changed over mid term from my GS. It worked out cheaper to pay the difference each month than to start again. As soon as I said it had LPG on it, they had my pants down. It runs out in September so its back to the drawing board. On the other side of the coin, we had our MX5 import, Talbot Motorhome and Nissan Figaro all with the same company fully comp on a classic policy, 5000 miles for £435 all in. Swings and roundabouts.
  4. Its probably a cut an pasted ad from somewhere else with jus the name of the car added. If you want a cheap an cheerful under described 400 then one of ours is for sale. Its out of MOT and rent and has a snapped fan belt. Thats why its not been retested or used for the last 3 months. Oh, its also done over 300,000 miles and has a Cherished plate. No idea what its it worth. Obviously not a lot even with a fresh MOT and even fresher Fan belt.
  5. Nice looking car. If you have somewhere to keep it then park it up and forget about it for a few years. When you go back to it, it will still start on the button. I parked a Stag 21 years ago. It won't start like a lex would but then its a different kettle of porridge. Looking at layin our MX5 up when the missus gets her Copen. Couln't bare to be without the funky ickle roadster.
  6. My apologies. Our moon and back mileage hack has the 3 front lights so I guess its a MK2. Until I owned an LS, i didn't give them a second glance. Iknew they where good but thought they where all the same. I was well into the MK1 GS which I could distinguish from the MK2.
  7. I believe the belts are the same for the 400 apart from the MK4 which has the VVTI engine. This doesn't include the 430 which may be different again.
  8. Damn. Clicked the link for Bullet cars before I had my tissues at the ready. Those cars are just silly. Really silly. Just plain daft. As hard as i try, i can't convince myself pass the kleenex
  9. My rear bumper has no cut outs but does need some paintwork due to a few scrapes. Our 300,000 plus mile Mk3 has finally ground to a halt due to nothing more than a snapped fan belt so its rear bumper with cut outs may find its way onto my MK4. Not sure yet what the fate of the car will be but being broken up and put on the bay sounds the favourite.
  10. Can you imagine how much fun the already fun MX5 would be with another set of cylinders? I have alwys thought our MX5 would benefit a bit more power because the chassis apparently can handle it but fitting a Turbo or supercharger doesn't float my boat. Now a 32 valve unstressed V8 would tick all the boxes but my engine transplant days are over now due to me being old. It doesn't stop me dreaming though. Now, Where's the Kleenex :winky:
  11. Are you filling it through the expansion tank or through the filler on the Engine?
  12. Hmm. I've just bought a pair of large bore universal silencers to put on my car. They are the same type I fitted to my GS to give the exhaust note a bit of a tickle. They sounded great on the GS but it wasn't quite right because it had 2 cylinders missing. I love the sound of eights. Lets be honest. you don't buy a TVR solely because it looks pretty. It give the best aural pleasure you can get. I have spent the last 20 odd years playing with Stags and TR7 V8s so i'm well addicted to the sound. I just want my Lex to play a bit of Guns n Roses instead of listening to Swan lake. You tube has a selection of LS400 exhaust noises to have a listen to if you are interested.
  13. Mine was done last year in Cardiff. Cost £1600 with a no quibble 2 year warranty. 85 litre tank, sequential system and software discs and hook up cable so I can adjust it via my laptop. I can squeeze 80 litres into the tank from empty and can't tell the difference when its on gas or petrol. well chuffed Champagne fuel for Shandy money.
  14. Guilty as found. I bagged the wheels for refurbing and have the cracked 10" rear and single front on Ebay. I aquired five to fit to my LS but I only needed 2 hence the sale of the others.
  15. I did mine few weeks ago. I think I could crack it in 3 hours now. I would think the MK4 is a bit less time consuming than the earlier models due to not having to mess about with Distributors. Feel free to shoot me down though. Despite what it tells you, its possible with the Radiator in place. Hardest and fiddliest part was undoing the the engine fan.
  16. Trying to get Petrol or Diesel into an LPG filler would be fun but I bet its been tried.
  17. Talking off oil filters, does anyone know if the GS300 one is the same as the LS400?
  18. Dave. You must be close to Top Gear tyres in the Port. Why not try some of there part worns?
  19. Thanks Steve. Its set up the same way so it must be right. My GS had a sticker under the bonnet but maybe its fell off this one.
