  1. This is my third Lexus and probably my last. Do Lexus care ? Probably not.
  2. My mate has a 56 reg Avensis and it is quiet and doesn't rattle. Just a nice muted thud when going over bumps. I forgot to say that when they gave me my car back after it went in to have the passenger side seatbelt housing rattle it came back with exactly the same rattle and grubby finger marks around the housing. Pretty disgusting and they never gave me a courtesy call to ask if I was happy with the work. I think they just hope I don't contact them again. Ok I've not given Lexus a chance to fix these rattles yet but I'll be contacting customer service tomorrow.
  3. The rattles are getting worse and the car is going in soon. The problem I have is that they'll just say "oh we'll have a look at it" and some 20 year old kid will start prodding and poking all over the car and the rattles won't get fixed. The following are the rattling sounds now coming from the car when going over uneven ground and bumps.... 1. Both seatbelt housing creaks. 2. Centre console various creaks and crack (one is from the cigarette lighter sliding cover and I'm convinced the other is from the plastic casing around the gaer stick. 3. Rattle from behind steering wheel (intermittent and loud). 4. Plastic creaking noise in nav screen area. Ok I know people will say take the car in but what will they do ? The car is rubbish. £34k for rubbish. Oh and the brakes squeal when I park up (one of the neighbours curtains twitched when I arrived home one night). The car is a pile of rubbish and I have no confidence Lexus will be able to fix it - they couldn't fix one rattle that it went in for at the start.
  4. I think the integration could be much much better. For a start if you have more than a couple of dozen playlist its a mare to navigate to. Then when you get to the playlist you want, play some tracks then switch off the engine, when you get back you get "LAST SELECTED" displayed as the playlist. What the hell is the point of that as it is then next to the first playlist again. Why can't they just leave it to be the called the playlist you selected ? You can't look at track names whilst on the move (a safety feature) but you can select POI icons to display and quick dial numbers !!! Funniest is the manual that says the playlist are organised as disks 1-6 due to LIMITATIONS OF THE DISPLAY. Limitations of the display ??? You can see 3D icons of buildings on the navigation system and rear camera view when parking and it's got a DVD player !!! It's a pile of poo if I'm being honest.
  5. You sound like a really responsible chap. It's nice to have people like you on the roads.
  6. Thanks a lot for all your help and advice. I'll contact customer service and I will print out this thread.
  7. Sorry to start a new thread but the other main rattles thread is so long now that people have given up replying to it. The rattles in my 2008 IS250 are getting an absolute nightmare. At first it was pretty much rattle free (I'm sure it was anyway) but there are so many little annoying rattles and creaks it is totally ruining the driving experience. The first rattle I noticed was from the passenger seatbelt housing. I know for a fact it is inside the housing where the seatbelt goes in. It went into the dealer to fix but was never fixed and they never rang me back to ask if all ok. It's got much worse since then.... On an good surface all is ok but if the car goes over a minor bump in the road I get the following.... 1. A plasticky creaking sound from the centre console area. 2. A loud creak from right next to my right ear in the seatbelt housing area). 3. Rattles and creaks from the passenger seatbelt housing. That's basically it but the rattle are so pronounced it's like driving a Transit van. Cruising on the motorway is fine but as soon as it hits a small bump then I get a cacophany of creaks and rattles. On a generally uneven road surface the rattling is a complete nightmare ! I totally understand that the car is going to make creaks and rattles if driving over a cobbled street but to make these annoying sound when merely going over a slight bump is not on. The worse noise is the one to my right ear. I've tried everything to find out what it is. I've jammed cardboard in the housing and even removed the grab rail because I thought that was what it was. I'm dismayed by these rattles as I've spent over £30k for this car and I specifically wanted stock 17" alloys and non-sports suspension. Trouble is I don't really have much confidence in Lexus Stockport so is there anyone at Lexus that will listen and help ? These rattles and creaks are ruining a great car for me
  8. The exact same rattle/squeak drove me to death at times - it was one the dealer couldn't fix. It was making me really mad... Ditto - I have exactly the same. Everytime I go over a bump I get a plastic creak from somewhere around the seat belt housing or grab handle. It's driving me mad. I'm going to get the dealer to replace them next service.
  9. I've been using Tesco 99 RON for a few weeks and get about 30-31 mpg to work (17 mile trip - 10 mile motorway). Last two fill-ups have been with standard Tesco 95 RON and mpg is down to 27.5mpg.
  10. I've been troubled by this rattle for quite a while now. The passenger seat belt housing rattles and I took the car in to get it fixed but it's still the same. Now for the last couple of months my seatbelt housing makes a plastic creak whenever it goes over a road imperfection or pothole etc. I also am convinced the plastic rattle when going over bumps is coming from the grab handle above the window next to my ear. I also get the occasional plastic "crack" sound from the centre console near the gear when going over bumps. It can totally ruin the driving experience. Quiet engine but hear loads of rattles - what's the all about then ? So as it stands at moment I have.... - plastic creak from grab handle / seat belt housing when going over a bump. - plastic creak from centre console (intermittent). - Rattling sound from passenger seatbelt housing (not fixed from last time). Other than this the car is spot on but.....aaaarrrrgggghhhh the rattles and creaks !!!!
  11. Yeah right mate.....torque is everything. Yeah right, whatever you say mate... BMW M3... Engine Size 2990 cc Cylinders 6 0-60 mph 5.8 s Power Output 286 bhp Valves 24 Torque 320 Nm Top Speed 155 mph Mercedes C270 CDI... Engine Size 2685 cc Cylinders 5 0-60 mph 8.8 s Power Output 170 bhp Valves 20 Torque 370 Nm Top Speed 140 mph
  12. But it is a faster car.... all the figures say that APART FROM TORQUE (which is nonsense).
  13. There's no trouble at all mate - you can think what you like. Most people go solely off torque figures and think the higher the torque the faster the car. Rubbish ! My Merc C270 diesel had 370Nm of torque. My IS250 has 252Nm of torque. So which one is faster ? My IS250 is much quicker in all cases IF YOU DRIVE IT PROPERLY. The pull actually feels quicker as well and it so swift and smooth through the gears...IF YOU DRIVE IT PROPERLY. In fact a few weeks ago I was following a C270 CDI round a roundabout and turning right onto a motorway slip road. As I'd expected he would, the Merc put his foot to the floor to test his huge TORQUE and take me to the cleaners - so he caned it up the slip road. I put my car in sport mode and dropped it into second gear and flew past him. He couldn't keep up and the engine sound was lovely whereas all he was doing was chucking out loads of black smoke (and running out of steam at 4000 revs). I'm not saying the IS250 is the fastest car in the world but it beat my old car hands down with the higher torque and it did it gracefully. Look I know you are just being protective of your nice little car but if you are really wanting to drive an executive car (which is what owning a Lexus is all about isn't it) then you wouldn't really want a car that's a manual or a diesel. What exec wants a car chucking out a load of black smoke and a course unrefined engine sound ? That's a side issue anyway - my point was about torque being nonsense. Applies to the case above it IS NONSENSE !
  14. Still don't agree with the 220d comments. I have driven a few 3.0 v6 diesels. Audi A6 3.0 TDI, Audi A4 3.0 TDI, BMW 530d and BMW 535d and Mercedes C320 CDI. Of all of these the only one that felt like a rocket ship was the Mercedes C320 CDI - wow that flew. Now that is much quicker than an IS250 no question but it's 0-60 in 6.9 secs. Different kettle of fish from 4 cylinder 2 litre and 2.2 litre diesels - no offence.
  15. Finlex sounds like one of those Passat TDI drivers that says "Hey my TDI has more torque than an M3 so it must be quicker". Complete tosh. Ha ha ha !!! :D
  16. You have to adjust to the driving style of a diesel or petrol. Yes if you are travelling at say 40 mph and floor the petrol auto it doesn't seem to do much. I had a C270 CDI before that and did notice it when I booted the petrol. So you have to use the gears and rev higher. But the sound - ooh it's like comparing champagne to cheap lambrusco when you rev the petrol. A beautiful creamy v6 growl as opposed to a weedy unrefined coarse sound. That's what I'm talking. The petrol is quicker PERIOD. Get over it. Torque is nonsense.
  17. Twice they've caught me out when driving front ways into a parking space. On one occasion I waited until it was only one yellow bar that was displayed but it actually touched the plates of the car in front. I know the back sensors can be changed for distance to alert but it seems silly the front ones can't when you can't actually see over the bonnet. Doesn't make sense. I'm sure my sensors weren't like this at the beginning ???
  18. Oh I'm sick of this sh1tty country. If I'd seen someone do it I'd have acid sprayed the bstard. I don't think this sh1te will carry on forever - people will start fighting back and making a stand. Something's got to change. There's no respect anymore. Parents are just not bringing kids up properly. Here's an example of the mess we are in. I was driving home the other week and needed to pull in quickly to the left to check I hadn't left something in the office. The car behind me (which was too close anyway) had to stop sharpish. When the car passed me I waved apologetically and the guy stuck his forks at me. I looked at the car driving off and there was a kid no more than 3 years old giving me a right dirty scowl ! What is he being taught as he's growing up. Scowling at 3 years old ? What the hell is going on in our society. God help the next generation if that's what rubbish we are bringing up.
  19. I've never once said the 220d is crap. The IS is a great car. The issue I have is someone who says the IS250 is good in heavy urban traffic and for everything else the 220d is ahead. It's total and utter tosh. That's all I'm saying.
  20. Yep. The rattle is very noticeable as well. I'm waiting til it's service now - I just can't be mythered taking it in again.
