  1. ok guys tried both of your suggestions and not alot of luck when i reverse - camera comes on - then when i come out of reverse screen goes back to map rather then climate - ive done alot of playing around and read the manual but havent come up with anything - any further suggestions.
  2. Or even Buy One Get One Free! I'll take the LS600h. yep it has been done by the americans - why cant the british here - we will buy more - they will sell more - everybody happy
  3. Guys i have a couple of questions with regards to the sat nav screen 1st is there anyeasier way of disbaling the "i agree" screen every time we start up - i know and have read about the vaistech method - but dont really want to go down that route 2nd question relates to the map screen. 99% of the time the screen i use is the climate control screen but everytime i reverse (the reverse camera comes on) and then the screen goes back the map screen - i then have to press the climate button to get the climate screen back on - the same happens if the front parking sensors are indicated for example if you are waiting in traffic and and somebody corss the road infront of the car the parking sensor will activate - then the screen goes back to the Map screen!!!!! So you get the idea here every journey i have to press "i agree" and climate several times - im finding this annoying any help appreciated Thank You
  4. are you saying sheffield are ding exactly the same job using the same parts for alot less?? - is there an explanation for this large difference?? - I would of thought Lexus Dealers would be charging relatively the same
  5. Yes it appears this was the best specced car in its day - It has air suspension and rear audio controls which are only found in the 430
  6. when i used to change the oil on my 400 i used to use 0w-30 Castrol Edge with filter from blu Print Thats the only thing i changed on it myself so cannot help with the other fluids HTH
  7. ive had both the Mark 3 and 4 - i now have an LS430 - i agree with brendan - the Ls400 are smooth and quiter (we are talking marginally) however the LS430 is so much more refined and full of toys - I would choose it anyday over an LS400 HTH
  8. What size is your tank Pete? It should only fill 80% of its capacity so work out what that is and that should tell you when filling from empty if it is overfilling. Mike MIke they are talking about over fuelling - not over filling
  9. Hi None of the LS400s have a timing chain - might be an idea to buy the parts from lexus and get an independant to change it. Do the waterpump aswell while your at it
  10. Hi there is very good chance you will be able to pick a face lift for 5K - These cars come fully loaded - only some will have ACC/PCS heres a checklist when buying Check has full service history - and most importantly has had the cambelt changed - it should be done 100k or 10 years whichever is earlier Check all electrics work expecially keyless entry Check the aircon works front and rear as compressors fail Check bonnet and boot struts hold up - the struts are a weak point Check mirrors fold in and out as sometimes they stick Check headlamp washers work - they rarely get used - but any problems can be used as a bargaining tool Check parking sensors front and rear work - they tend to fail Listen for any suspension clunks when test driving and gearbox changes should not be noticeable Check the Hi/Lo suspension settings i.e car should rise when high is selected - there have been problems reported due to corroded electric connectors Make sure you get locking wheel nut key Make sure you find out the handsfree pairing code whilst there Check theres no warning lights on (red triangle) on dash followed by message in orange I got mine - a 04 plate with 112K for 3.5K - FSH HTH
  11. This is only a guess: on the Mark 4 if you hold the unlock button all windows will go down Is there any chance you pressed the button by mistake?
  12. Hi You have the typical Mark 4 fault where the float in the washer bottle absorbs too much water and sink triggering the switch which lights the light have a look here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=31393
  13. Hi The solution to your first problem is on here half way down the page http://www.vipstylecars.com/forums/showthread.php?22336-HOW-TO-2001-LS430-Interior-Trunk-License-plate-LED-Lights
  14. I have to agree with that - i was just browsing 245/45/18 size (i dont need any) and £61 budget tyre is rated at C/C/71DB my current bridgestones are supposed to be rated at E/E/72DB and cost £167 even if they wear twice as fast they still work out cheap im a bit confused now
  15. I think you are looking at the wrong thing - what you are looking at is the barrel to permanently lock the boot to prevent unwanted access. The fuse box is located further down thown the footwell - the lid is white coloured and just pulls off - I had to get down on my knees to gt to it - have another go
  16. I would first of all check your fuses - the one for the washer is in the driver footwell fusebox changing the pump should not be too difficult - access can be gained by unscrewing a couple of screw on the passenger side wheel arch liner - a couple of pictures here to give you some pointers: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=31393 regards
  17. hi the above depends on wether a code has been set either by you or the previous owner
  18. if you good with tools - you could attempt something like this: This was my Mark 3 which came with one fitted
  19. Just an update It was misting this morning - put the wipers in auto and the mist button in the middle and the wipers performed brilliantly - the mist was varying and the wipers adjusted accordingly - i think i could get used to this
  20. My engineering mind tells me to wait until the steering wheel has sorted itself. Mike yep thats how i do it - also when getting out i wait for ot to retreat so that i dont put undue pressure on the motors when getting out
  21. Sorry to hijack the thread but is there any way of cancelling the sat nav mode so everytime i start the car i dont have to press i agree and then climate to get out of the map screen? obviously for me the climate is the most used screen - i rarely need the sat nav
  22. The mot discuccion aside - is there an explanation as to why lexus said one thing and the merc dealer found something else?
  23. Might be an idea to make a short video and upload it - it will be alot easier for us guys to comment on
  24. Ive just bought some flat blades for mine - they are wipac branded - they are quite, smooth and clear the screen well
  25. hi According to the manual: "the wiper speed is determined by the vehicle speed and the amount of raindrops and sunlight detected by the automatic wiper sensor" so they shouldnt be working when dry - i havent tried mine yet
