  1. im in poole, ithink a sat or sun best more time bit more relaxed quay for cars at poole is on fridays, they have different themes all thro summer like convertables one week minis another and so on sponsored by rockley sands i live close and often go i would'nt mind going to west bay or somewhere around there
  2. must be worth a look, even at around 2 grand,a late mk1V whatever it was sold at before,it does look good
  3. that looks a really nice car, sounds even better re the tyres and every thing working ok ,you must be pleased, they look great ,the mk4s dont they, you have the same wheels as mine ,i think they really suit it
  4. there is also a very nice 74 i think for sale ,it says to good to auction,89000 miles, the address is lexus hedge end,it does look good
  5. yeah even better,i like em,they look a bit ungainly with roof up. lovely with it down, but got proper engine
  6. good little cars,i'd like something like that, for little trips along the coast,in my retirement
  7. its so easily done these days, what with e bay etc, your browsing away, especially after a few ciders, and find you have bought a car,im not allowed to look at usa sites in case i buy another american car,i cant do much at mo ,cos we are living in a flat temporary and only got a garage and allocated parking place, her fiesta goes in garage, only cos the lexus won.t go in.but we're moving soon got a driveway and garage, got rid of my corvette c4 and grand cherokee when we moved here.she thinks thats all behind me ,but the sickness is only lying dormant.i wear the trousers in my house [when im allowed]
  8. i hav'nt checked the speedo properly, but it do'esnt seem a long way out,and i like the looks does fill the wheelarches and gives a bit more clearance over speedbumps ,cos the spoiler can be very vunerable to those, ive been very pleased with them
  9. ive not got dhp wheels,i run 245 55 17 on mine, i have continentals contisport on front, and new michelin pilots supemacy i think on rear they are really quiet no road noise,no tramlining, and good on uneven roads. its really like a magic carpet ride
  10. i think its all according to your criteria,a newer car is always best with lower mileage, high spec for resale and desirability if you going to change again in a few years, again if you want a older car for a shortish time then an average mileage car prob suit you fine, not much outlay, not lose much when you sell it,its already lost its value.on the other hand us guys who hang on to cars and like ls400 which is are the best ever lexus, would like alow milage one cos we could keep it for years, and prob not have to do much major work to it for ages and waft around in splender for years to come.when this car came out new all the other makes s classes etc had to up their game considerably to keep up with lexus, there so good that 20+ years later we are on here enthusing about them, and still alot about in spite of those banger racers
  11. lovely car,one you dream of finding with that mileage, history etc,no wonder they clicked buy it now button
  12. while i was browsing stuff i come across this flame red ls400 in ireland been resprayed ,different wheels, i thought it looked good in that colour,i know others will think omg what have they done to it.its on carand classic website or trovit cars. what do you think?
  13. i owned a j reg back in 2005,i know it was'nt too old then and it was a great car, never any trouble, only sold it because i had bmw 530d company car, when got made reduntant, i needed another car and i bought a k reg from a local garage so i could get to ajob i had it was in lovely condition,it was about 650 with tax ,done starship mileage, 224000 but still a great drive,it had only 2 owner and full lexus service history, again no probs,i did repair leak on power steering resevoir and fitted new aerial, and sold for about the same money these are common probs on early cars along with the heater dis plays the only probs with these cars are that once you have one,you can't live without one, now i have a mk4 and they are the best of all tho you can pay alot for some,so you have to weigh up the the pros and cons of both, the early cars have olot of charm, prob if you drove a mk 2or 3 with out sampling the 4,you would be more than happy in my opinion,as before mileage on older not important but service history and condition the thing, does'nt have to be lexus but history of being looked after ,get one and enjoy, you could start with a mk2/3, if you like ,then trade up,terrible thing this lexus sickness, seems to include multiple cars as well,i bought mine off a guy who had three
  14. i absolutly agree with mike a refreshing change, i dont do much mileage really but iv thought of getting lpg, and id certainly go to profess if i do, im very impressed
  15. i too think you have got a good result even paying £60 to get a repair on a10 yr old car,not many companys would do that, its a small price to pay to get your car back to a high standard,it does seem reasonable in my opinion
  16. thank you all for the advice ,i will go with the 5w 30 fully synthectic,it just shows its a minefield out there, even with a simple thing like oil,i read the technical explanation from amsoil, thanks ,good company that ,i bought some additive from them recently to stop the diff whinning on my grand chereoke and it worked,im going to use the castrol oil
  17. i was going to change oil,was going to use 5w 30,fully synphetic some places always seem to mention 10 40 wnen you put in make of car,i usually like castrol no real reason,iv used magnetec in past now there is edge, just asking what you knowledgable people on here use, thanks
  18. hi i found the club when on google looking for parts for my last lexus,i found it really useful, and i got back on here when i got my presnt car,i decided to have the gold membership then, really good site thanks
  19. mine is about £294, Iv just changed it ,protected ncb,max ncb, car if in accident etc, when i went to change it over from last car my existing company were insisting that this sort of car had to have a tracker fitted b4 they would insure it which is alright if it was new but on a car worth 2k at most i found a bit much so i found other insurance, i am 64 so insurance not that much of a problem,i had quite a lot cheaper quotes, than this some were high excesses a 460 would be nice but £15000 more than my car on average mk4 ls400 id have to wait another 8 yrs to be in my price range, our leader mr camshaft does'nt make it easy to own one of those when retired these low interest rates are the killer, thou to be quite honest i cant see a 460 could give me that much more pleasure than mine really
  20. the windows are tinted was done by a previous owner, who i think was in the trade,it is quite heavy tint on rear windows, sunroof, the front sides are somewhere between original and the rear ,i wasn't too keen on the colour to start but i really like it now and the windows do look good, sometimes when you make compromises when buying cars it works out ok coz otherwise the car was great and i nearly walked away, when buying it coz of colour now im a fan of it
