  3. Can anyone tell me the spring rate of an IS200 , either for the Standard or Eibach/TTE springs , please.
  4. Ok , after lots of Emailing , I found Larkspeed do them for 146Euo / £99.50 inc VAT and Fensport show them for the Altezza/Is200 at £91 +VAT.... any one know of any better? gxe10chassis.htm
  5. I want to change the rear dampers before I get the alignment done , at the mo its OE Lexus ones , with -30mm Eibachs , I always felt it was too soft on the back in the damping tho . Any suggestions for rear uprated dampers like Koni's? And who does them?
  6. Cheers mate , on the button there,,, which is why I'm looking for Koni's or similar for the rear now.
  7. Thats great , just what he'd hoped for.
  8. Was speaking to a reputable manufacturer of Performance Cams today , based in the UK , in regard to Cams for the IS200... He wants to know all about the valvetrain , ie whether its finger operated or direct to buckets with shims , and whether or not its hydraulic or mechanical operation....
  9. Well I fitted the Springs myself , then drove , oh what , I suppose 1000 miles before I got the alignment done , with no problems . It was only when the ex-mate adjusted stuff the bolt loosened...and he did crack that one open while adjusting . I only put the old Dunlop gauges on it myself in the shed to get it safe for driving , as the nearest 4 wheel alignment place is a good spin away . Without sounding presumptious , will you be able to suggest settings for me if I mail you the current ones Tony? I've nae bother in pay=palling you a few bob for them .
  10. what HIDs are you using? Looking good btw!
  11. I'm gonna get it checked again , just the settings to measure the various angles , the scan them for Tony .
  12. I searched for this but found nothing definite , whats a good , well priced kit for the dims of an IS200? And how well do they work? Cheers , Tristan .
  13. Rally champion Colin McRae dies with son in helicopter crash Tom Gordon for The Sunday Times THE former rally driving champion Colin McRae was killed and his five year-old son feared dead in a helicopter crash yesterday afternoon. The aircraft came down in Jerviswood, Lanarkshire, half a mile from the family's home and burst into flames just after 4pm. Jean-Eric Freudiger, McRae's agent, said the 39-year-old driver had been piloting the helicopter himself. Also on board were believed to be his son Johnny, another adult and another child. Police said there were no survivors. McRae's wife Alison and their daughter Hollie, 9, were not on board, friends said. McRae became Britain's first World Rally champion in 1995. He was one of the country's most successful sportsmen, achieving 25 wins in World Rally events and 42 podium places. He was a flamboyant driver, inspiring one the world's best-selling computer rally games. Related Links * Legend of the road * The people’s champion The helicopter came down within half a mile of McRae's home, Jervis House, a 16th-century tower house, which has an adjacent helipad. The weather had been overcast, with a light breeze, but visibility was good. Strathclyde police said the extent of the fire damage was making identification a problem. McRae's wife, a childhood sweetheart and his former co-driver, was taken back to the house under police escort shortly after 6pm. She looked calm, but neighbours gathering outside the house looked shaken with grief. McRae's friend the rally journalist Jeremy Hart who flew with the champion several times described him as a "very good, very measured pilot whose natural ability with machinery was second to none". "Colin regularly flew all over the UK and into Europe," said Hart. "He knew the terrain and conditions at Jerviswood very well. It was the place he flew into most regularly. "As a driver Colin was misunderstood slightly as being reckless but everything you saw with him came from pure raw talent as opposed to being learnt. He was the Michael Schumacher of rally driving. "It's so ironic that he should die in a helicopter crash when he had competed and had brushed with death so many times as a rally driver." Additional reporting: Paul Lamarra
  14. heard that too , plus a neighbour and his son.        Ablack day for rally , and motorsport fans.
  15. Right here goes ..... Part of the reason I've been so long off the forum here is that I'd fallen out of love with my IS . There I've said it , I'm sorry , but it was the truth . However............................ I miss her loads now! So after being left idle bar the odd drive to the village for 6 months , she's coming back into my life . Now the love affair all went awry back when I first got the 4 wheel alignment done , some time after fitting my -30mm Eibach Springs. A "mate" did this one afternoon in a known brand tyre outfitter , and things were great , for about 30 miles.... As it happened I was going to Birmingham , with 3 mates from the workshop . So drove to the ferry , car was lovely on the motorway . Off the boat in Holyhead , 4 of us in the car , plus luggage , and once we got up around 70 , the car started weaving on the road , felt like it was steering from the rear . Not at all nice tbh , even the passengers noticed it! To shorten a long story , I got back to Tipperary , and once I got a chance got it in over the pit in out own garage , and what did I find , to my utmost horror , that the lower outer suspension arm adjuster nut was loose :tsktsk: :tsktsk: It had even damaged the folded edge of the arm so getting the adjustment back was very awkward . Ok so , I reset it as best I could by eye and with old skool Dunlop Tracking gauges , and got 4 wheel alignment done again ASAP , not by my so called erstwhile mate . As you can guess I double and treble checked the bolts after that session!! But... the car has never felt fully sorted since . We couldn't get the angle on the rear wheel exactly right , so slotted the inner mounting hole a shade to try help , still not quite right . I tried tyres , even a different profile , that made it worse ! Now with 2 new 215 50 17s on the rear , 215 45 17s on the front , its not a nice car to drive on bumpy roads . You come over a decent bump , and as the suspension extends and compresses , it feels like the car is wandering , weaving slightly at the rear . I'm gonna get 4 new Dunlops soon as the fronts are shot , but what else could be wrong? Its a shame 'cos its been a brilliant car otherwise , its been to the 'Ring and back and never missed a beat , its done just over 45000 miles from new and only got oils , filters , 4 new dampers and brake pads . sadly being in Ireland means I can't get it Wheels In Motion , but what else should I look for? None of the bushes appear to be worn , however I haven't a great way of checking them . Please help!
  16. Right gang , I've found various bits and bobs for all my projects from the IS to my Mk1 Golfs , all stuff in the Uk . Now as it happens a mates brother lives in London , has a garage beside the house , and will hold stuf for me . The idea being that I get a good bunch of bits together , then bring the lot home . What courier/carrier companies would you recommend to ship to Southern Ireland?
  17. the Wheel Doctor in Tipperary either , or Tom Tallon in Carlow.
