  1. Take it to the dealer and they will be able to recover the error codes from the ecu to give a better indication of what happened. In case this happens again try to hold your fob close to the start engine button to start the car.
  2. Same here. I have booked in with WIM next week. Will let you know how I get on.
  3. I've read of instances where people have used the factory glue (which is pretty much silicone too) to seal it back but I guess you would have to be very careful in order to preserve it when prying it open. Silicone should be fine. Just get a black one instead of a clear one for a neater look.
  4. I am sorry I have no idea what that is. In terms of waterproofing your headlight I would suggest using a hairdryer to get rid of any residual moisture inside the headlight before you seal it up.
  5. Yes I am afraid this headlight design has plenty of flaws. The ballast has a separate power lead connected to it and I believe as long as that is disconnected you are safe to play around with the bulb connector. (Just using common sense here - could be wrong) An aftermarket ballast is an option too. Here's an example: http://www.flawlessfitment.com/2012/02/is-250350-ballast-retrofit.html
  6. Too much hassle. I was in similar situation recently but luckily it was the bulb. You can actually remove the ballast connector without opening the headlight but the problem is there is a screw somewhere that keeps you from pulling the wire. I am not a big fan of baking your headlights open unless you are one of those professionals from hidplanet. Have you considered cutting the wire? Let us know how you get on. PS: There is a drivers side unit for auction on ebay at the moment.
  7. Sat navs get their time from satellites which are one of the most reliable sources for time. It has to be the settings. In the setup screen there is an option called Time-zone on the first page. Go into it and check you daylight saving settings.
  8. For starters you may want to switch the bulbs between the left and the right side. If the car still does it you have a faulty ballast. If it doesn't do it any more then it's the bulb.
  9. Osram Night-breakers or Philips extreme/diamond vision seem to be the most popular non-hid choice. If you get a HID kit make sure you get a good one as there have been reports of the cheaper ones interfering with the cars steering ecu.
  10. Congrats! My gf has a CT200h and I drive it every so often. Usually avg's between 65-68mpg in town in eco mode in stop and go traffic in London if you drive it super gently. The key to higher avg's and good battery charge is developing a habit of letting the accelerator go early when you are anticipating a stop. Being a hybrid it is not a good performer on motorways. Anything over 60MPH and your mpg will start to fall One thing I don't like about the car is the CVT gearbox. It is annoyingly loud when accelerating hard. Just feels like the engine is going to blow or something. You may not notice it coming from a diesel. I hope you enjoy your car. Keep us posted.
  11. I am pretty sure I read somewhere that Autosol works too.
  12. Must be an MY11 year change then as mine are white My loan car was MY11 and had the clear ones. I will be getting some clear ones for mine too. The red ones are useless. I also noticed that in reverse the area behind the car was very well lit on the MY11 model in comparison to mine.
  13. Congrats!! Saw the picture in the other thread. The car looks evil!
  14. It's 9006. Commonly referred to as HB4. You should always replace bulbs in pairs otherwise your color output wont match. In terms of Kelvin (color temperature). Go for 4300k or 5000k max. This is all assuming you have stock headlights. When you remove the bulb it should say the bulb type on the base of the bulb.
  15. Hi stevet, I will be interested to know how you feel about the car coming from an is250.
  16. I am after the same bulbs for the foglights for my is250. I haven't come across a company apart from hids4u that sells these. H7R on the other hand is widely available on ebay. Just need to figure out how to remove the bumper before I order them.
  17. You guys need 9006R type bulbs for your cars. http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_4105wt_1186 Considering the size of the reflector bowl in your cars you will cause discomfort to oncoming traffic with the normal ones no matter how low you aim them.
  18. There is plenty of information on the US lexus sites where people have done the 'red out' mod on their tail lights. Basically tinted the amber bit red. Looks quite decent TBH.
  19. DRL's are a legal requirement now. Hence all >2011 cars irrespective of make will have some kind of DRL's. Swell do a retrofit kit for the older MY's that costs too much. I wonder if they've sold any: http://is.sewellpart...-2010/2400.html This requires baking your headlights open, installing the DRL's and sealing them back.
  20. Update: I went to Albin B Motors who in turn asked me to have a dealer do the diagnosis. Went to Lexus Croydon and paid the 95 quid diagnosis fee. They re-calibrated the torque sensors on the steering and filled the tyres up to 40 PSI. Left the dealership and the car was better. About 2ish miles later the steering started to stiffen up again and was back to its prior state. Thinking about visiting the dealer again tomorrow now.
  21. + 1 This is the highest rated tyre at the moment. Supposed to be really good.
  22. Interesting stuff. Will try this. On slopes what I tend to do is brake to achieve desired speed and then put the car into S and downshift till I find a gear that prevents the car from accelerating too quickly. Otherwise the car is just aching to switch to 5th and shoot down the road. I never downshift without using the brakes first on slopes as I too am of the opinion that it's not good for the transmission.
  23. Nicely described. :) Exdee, my car is not here right now, so I can't check, but I think it's not fully electric and that is has some hydraulic fluid. I could be very wrong, but I'm almost sure I saw hydraulic steering fluid tank somewhere. Thanks for you input. All the forums I've read so far have indicated that the steering on the 2nd gen IS is completely electric. I will double check tomorrow just in case. The first thing my dealer mentioned was checking the fluid but I just assumed he had no idea what he was talking about.
  24. In my experience on a is250, BG improved my city avg by 4 MPG and made idling very smooth. The most drastic improvement was in the rate of deceleration when I let the throttle go. There was a noticeable improvement in engine noise too. The popular opinion seems to be that BG is most efficient when you are expected to make short runs. On longer runs it will be in and out of the system too quickly.
