  1. Carbon buildup. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-second-generation/484055-lexus-4gr-fse-engine-carbon-build-up-merged-threads.html
  2. This is probably a dumb question but how do you guys deice your windscreen? Does anybody add some sort of a deicer to their washer fluid?
  3. That product in the video is probably the easiest way forward. It is usually referred to as Vaistech (name of manufacturer) in the LOC community in USA. You can read more about it on the website http://www.vaistech.com/dev/mml.php I was also thinking that if you have the ipod connector installed you might be able to convert that to usb using a female ipod dock to female usb (if such a thing exists). The sound quality of the ipod is pretty crap in comparison to CD's and I am looking to take the usb route myself too.
  4. A 2010 model shouldn't have the rattles we are talking about but if your dashboard has a rattle then by all means you should take it to the dealer to have it fixed. The thing is your dash may only rattle for a while when it's really cold. As the engine and cabin gets warmer the rattle may go away. If this is the case then to replicate the problem in presence of a dealer you just need to make sure the car and engine are cold when you arrive at the dealer. Depending on how far you are from the dealer this may not be feasible and you may have to leave the car with them overnight.
  5. Unfortunately, full post code entry was something that became available on the later models. A 2006 model will allow 3-4 digits of the first half of the post code and then you will have to choose a street name. :( PS: Carl beat me to it :)
  6. 2008/2009 and onwards. If that is all you want you don't need a new disk. Just find somebody who will lend you a newer disk. Borrow it to update your firmware and go back to using the old disk. I live in Beckenham. You are free to try mine if you are close.
  7. You need to remove the valves from your old alloys and insert them into your new alloys. It may also need a new calibration using tech-stream. Word of caution: Be careful when removing the tyre. The valve can snap easily.
  8. Will probably have the 4 cylinder 2.5 engine the ES300h has. I think it would be a step backwards. It should have a V6 at least.
  9. I believe they refer to the 450H which has a CVT transmission. Nevertheless a good review. Read with great interest.
  10. Two possibilities: - One can be fixed by re-seating the cabling to the stereo. - The other requires padding to sort of create an insulation. It's very easy to remove the center console. I recommend giving this one a shot yourself.
  11. One of my intermittent rattles comes from the left corner of the dash. I assume you know what causes this! Catl I believe this one requires the new clips. The sound proofing kit alone costs in excess of a hundred pounds. Although thankfully most dealers modify the existing clips to decrease the amount of play in the dashboard. A word of advice about the dashboard is that it has some temperature related contracting and expanding elements in it so you may have a totally different part of the dashboard creaking in the summer. I paid to have my dash fixed in June and ever since we've held the cold spell my dashboard has started to make noises again. I will ring the dealer and get it booked in due course. Any work carried out by a dealer will have a one year warranty and will get you through both the seasons to test your dash. Not that I am recommending you take your car to a dealer, just a heads up so that you can discuss this with your technician.
  12. @ BB1000 Has the crack only started happening since it's been cold? Is it the left corner of the dash?
  13. @ wendle lol @ chris: Have you tried a new arm yet? Should be able to get one pretty cheap from the breakers.
  14. There is a huge discrepancy between the US and UK Lexus market. Modding is big in the USA which explains why Lexus have done a whole page for F-Sport accessories. Is there a specific reason you want the f-sport springs? I want to lower my car too and have been getting the research in. Eibach pro (F:1" and R:1.4") is what I am leaning towards at the moment.
  15. As wendle said, clean you windscreen and blades with a can of coca cola. Will improve surface contact if that's what causing it.
  16. I would recommend that you wait for the new IS. Both the current three series and IS have been around since 2005. If you are going to spend that kind of money go for something new. Have you considered the GS450h?
  17. Have you checked your air filter? Mismatched or improperly seated air filters can cause noise at higher revs too.
  18. I have been following this thread with interest. Have always filled up my car with Tesco fuel as it's the only pump that I don't have to detour for on my way to or from work. I switched to Shell last week and have noticed an improvement in the engine noise to an extent where I can not tell whether it is running or not when the car is stationary. Shell V Power it will be from now on. :)
  19. Right went to WIM today and they did not do anything because the alignment and steering geometry came up as 'immaculate'. I have pretty new tyres so I am going to rule that out too. I think it might be the design of the suspension or maybe the electric power steering itself. Either way I think it's normal. I've got a habit of holding the steering wheel very lightly which has changed ever since I've had this car. It does get a bit annoying but I guess I am not used to it.
  20. Congrats and welcome to the club. I am 21 and bought mine when I was 20 too. :)
  21. It's called 501. Most commonly used bulb for your parking lights (sidelights).
  22. Thanks for sharing. Found this great video for anyone doing the LED mods. It covers all the bulbs in the car.
  23. These video demonstrations might help. I remember using the key to unlock the car when I first got it just for the sake of learning it and it was pretty straight forward. Just a small thing, the guy in the second video says it 'charges your battery enough to start the car'. That is not true. This method of starting the car has nothing to do with your key fobs battery. You can start the car this way with the battery removed from the fob too.
