Isn't Shell V-Power the 100RON stuff in Europe?

Hi Dolo, I sold my GS300 after about 6 months for the same reasons. I too found the ride unbearable. I had a Sport and so expected the ride to be firm, but I found the way it crashed and banged over uneven road surfaces and skipped across the road when going around uneven corners unacceptable for a car of this class. I also noticed the wind noise, but that wasn't a major reason for selling. I loved a lot of things about my GS. The looks and individuality were far better than the BMW 528i which I owned previously, as were the smoothness of the engine and gearbox. It was also a really comfortable place to be on a long journey (as long as the roads were smooth!). The handling wasn't as good as the BMW, but I knew that before I bought it. The ride quality in my Audi S3 is actually better than in my Lexus. Everyone I know who has been in both cars agrees with me on this. The Audi has the firmer ride, but it handles uneven surfaces and potholes far better. This really surprised me - a hot hatch with better ride quality than a luxury saloon!

There is a mechanism which stops you moving the selector past the neutral position into reverse or park whilst the car is moving forward at any speed, whether the brake pedal is pressed or not. On my GS I noticed that if I came to a stop quickly from high speed and tried to shift into Park immediately, the selector wouldn't go past Neutral, in exactly the same way as if I hadn't pressed the brake pedal. Maybe this has something to do with your problem. It took me a while to work out what was going on - I thought that it was just an intermittent fault at first, as non of my other automatic cars have done it. I don't know what signal triggers this behaviour, but it could be this that is malfunctioning causing you not to be able to select Reverse or Park from Neutral. I'm sure Colin will have a few ideas on what it could be.

I'm fluent in French... But it does surprise me how many french people can't understand their own language! :) Seriously though, I can order a meal, buy a train ticket and get a room in a hotel. Thats about it!

Last year my GS300 Sport II cost me £750 with Elephant. Just tried a quote again, and it came up as £709. I'm 26 with 8 years no claims, no accidents, claims or convictions, and I park on a driveway.

I would have been so ****** off if my parents had sent me somewhere like that. I think that it was the nursing home threats that stopped them!

Go Gold Now!! I sold my Lexus 6 months ago, but have renewed my Gold membership because many of the discounts and group buys aren't Lexus specific. Saved loads of money at Lexus dealerships whilst I had mine.
