  1. I emailed the geezer, I asked him if it was an import, and when it was last serviced and if it was an altezza or an IS200, here's his response:- "hello ebayer this car is an import we bought the car already registered, it was first bought to the country and sva done in june 2003, it is an altezza, lights are on the car....." mmmm....lights on the car eh? He also sent me some more pics of the interior with the big dangly from the rear view mirror... It's definitely the old shape (with tape deck on top) and I have also noticed that the centre's from the alloys are missing.... it doesn't look like a tezz at all, more like an IS200. pm me if you want to see the pics (I don't really want to put them on here...)
  2. mmm... the buyer has bought an Audi A4 & alloys off this geezer... Well dodgy....do you think we should tell him about this thread when he sells it!
  3. Hello guys, Mine's due for a 40k service within the next 2 weeks, have received 2 quotes so far, any ideas what I should pay? I will let you know what I received once you posted - you will be shocked !!! Thanks in advance.... btw, what's included? (do I need to have the air filter changed or can I do it myself) ;)
  4. How much were they? Any group buy?
  5. Me again (last time) I quote - " THE MILES ARE GENUWINE, DUE TO ME BEING A DISABLED DRIVER; I HAVE KEPT THE CAR IN GOOD NICK, AND HARDLY EVER DRIVE IT. " If that's the case where is the disabled badge in the windscreen??? Anyway, the numberplate is T761 HTR and the car is a LEXUS IS 200 (99 ON) SE AUTO - I thankyou!!! Check it out on www.directline.com
  6. And his feedback is really bad... his swearing is terrible, should be banned from ebay...imho he trades in salvage - have a look at his previous sales - VW GOLF interior for heavens sake - where would you get that from other than an insurance job!
  7. Especialy after the program on tv the other day slating ebay...If you were serious you'd have to see it first before even considering a purchase...
  8. maybe it was the same guy who came out to mine !!! Seem a bunch of timewasters if you ask me....
  9. I'd be interested in knowing how chips away do - I had a quote from them on a scratch that needs repairing, they said it would be £100 but they phoned up & said they couldn't do it - something to do with the machine for spraying on metalic paint had broken. Let me know what they do - cheers!
  10. Mine used to rattle and there was an attempt to sort it out under warranty. The rattle has gone away but when the visor is back there is an annoying clicking noise whenever I go over a bump. BTW, I had a creak in my drivers seat which was also fixed under warranty.
  11. If it still has warranty then what is there to worry about? My suggestion would be to hide near the garage and follow them to the auction and buy it at a much cheaper price than what you would pay when they give you "flowers and chocolates"
  12. Are you Simon Carrol? "X Factor" Only joking...so what made you choose the IS300 then?
  13. I've just checked in my manual (2002 model) and it states that to double lock the doors, press the lock button twice. It warns about making sure nobody is inside as they won't be able to get out. Not sure about the sensors being disarmed though! Why do they change these things. To be honest I find it a real pain double locking !!! The other thing I noticed was when you press the lock key once the indicators flash, when you press it again they don't flash and the locking noise is different - if you know what I mean ?!?!!
  14. Yup your right Colin, I was comparing the manual IS200 vs Auto IS300, so I wonder how fast a manual IS300 could be then :-) ??? If there was such a thing........
  15. One thing we haven't touched on this IS300 "I want one" forum is - they only sell it with an automatic box- come on that 6 Cylinder sounds fantastic with a manual box - I've not driven an IS300 but I have driven an IS200 auto and I must say it's not as an enthralling drive.... Plus, circa 7k for 1 and a bit seconds is a heck of a lot of money to justify. Especially as the revised IS200 has a very similar spec now.
  16. Is there anyway you can program it to automatically arm the deadlocks - you know, instead of having to press "lock" twice ? It would be great if you could - I guess I'm answering my own question here, you probably can't because of the health & safety aspect of locking somebody in accidentally as the deadlocks will not allow you to open the car from the inside - I think?
  17. Can somebody explain what exactly the LSD does ? And has anybody compared handling between the SE & the Sport and is there much difference?
  18. Great feedback - I think?!? To be honest I think if Lexus really want to sell the "remaining" stock of the current IS200 until the new one is released in 2005 I really think they should have the 18" alloys as standard, imho they are the dogs dangly's... Thanks Chrispy - see, you can justify that training course!
  19. It wasn't put on to p**s people off, it was purely my observation!!! As for character, well that's your choice at the end of the day.... As the old saying goes, if it isn't broken don't fix it!
  20. You might even get cheaper insurance if you install an additional alarm! Although, my advice to you is - when you come to sell it what do you say to the buyer if you have an additional alarm fitted, bearing in mind the security on the IS is top dog....
  21. Well my IS went in today for some work done on it, I had an 04 IS200 SE for the day and I was fortunate enough to drive it to a meeting in Derby (200 mile round journey). I thought I would share my observations with you (in no particular order & apologies for my lack of terminology) 1) The new blue which replace the strathcaron blue imho is not as nice. 2) Those new alloys look a swine to clean! I must admit I do prefer the older ones by a million miles. The older ones look the dogs and are really easy to clean. OK there have been complaints of corroding - but mine have been ok. 3) The fan spray windscreen wash is much better than the 3 nozzle version. 4) I wasn't too keen on the full leather, it was really hot today and the seats were boiling when I got into the car after it standing. And they felt slippy when going around bends. Didn't really feel as if they were hugging me as well as the half leather seats. 5) I do not like the white? silver? stiching on the steering wheel - who was on drugs when they redesigned that? 6) The aircon seemed much better than mine - a lot colder, I thing I need one of those bomb thingies - any suggestions? 7) General observations - the leather gear knob holder was squeaking like mad, the sunroof visor felt flimsy, the fuel filler cap felt like a tin can - whereas in my 02 SE feel much better made. Sorry for too much info, but hey that's what this forum is for! ;)
  22. Nice review from honest john - much better than the topgear magazine which comments that the is200 is shamelessly competing with the 3 series - put me off Mr Clarkson for life! I've had a 3 series and wouldn't change my is200 for the world.
  23. I'd like to know this as well - can you post the details please Duncan?
  24. How much do they cost to buy & to be fitted ? I would like one when my warranty runs out next year
  25. And my M3000 is still for sale until 7pm tonight !!!! Go on, ah go on you know you want to.... Sorry I know this is the IS200 forum so I'll finish by saying I Love my IS200, much better than previous comp cars A4 & 320d !!! By a mile !
