  1. It depends how big the potholes are, if it has air suspension & how much air is in your tyres ... It is a car not a hovercraft and uk roads arent the best... lol .... if you do think there is something wrong though take it back to the dealer sooner rather than later ... You should always do your homework on different specs/options available & be sure to get the spec you want.... as regards the Rx 450 Sel's ride ..."lexus is a lexus" ....is not always the case I'm afraid it depends which options you want & which model you buy ... heres a quote from the telegraph regards the Rx 450 Sel ride ... "The powertrain may be flawless, but the £50,460 RX 450h SE-L's ride quality isn't. Criticism of the previous car has stung Lexus into trying to make it handle like a saloon, which it never will. The upshot is a WOE that corners acceptably, but sacrifices too much straight line ride comfort, leaving customers no choice but to pay for an optional air suspension which does much to rectify the damage done."
  2. They may have been discontinued, I do seem to remember there was a massive safety recall which included latitudes a couple of years ago ....
  3. I thought it was a seperate thing ... so if i use my breakdown cover supplied with my insurance it counts as an insurance claim ? ....wtf
  4. Exactly what I thought Chris .... this all sounds pretty odd, ... the engine ran out of fuel/stopped running but ran on battery & the now the only problem mentioned is the battery ? ...maybe the overdue inverter recall could be a key factor here ? did it run out of fuel or was it possibly an inverter failure in the first place . If the inverter fails the RX 400h will automatically go into its fail-safe driving mode reducing power and speed .... so electric only ? ... sounds like the same symptoms .... did the AA add any fuel to the vehicle ? (was it the correct fuel ?) did they try to jump start it ? did they blow anything ? ... there are a lot of questions ...this may just be a comedy of errors ... but 145k on the clock, it should have gone in for the recall years ago....
  5. I'm pretty sure there are no 19" wheels from other makes apart from Kia and I think you will only find 19" on certain models of the 2014> Sportage & Sorrento, I've looked hard for 18/19" for the Rx & nothing has the same pcd/offset, I'm afraid aftermarket or original wheels may be the only option at 19" .... in fact I would dare to say apart from Kia & Lexus Rx nothing fits regardless of size ... apart from aftermarket ones. ... like Chris said remember to check all the specs (load etc) ... ;-)
  6. Stiffer sidewall also means better handling, which isn't a bad thing ... ;-) I don't think itd make that much difference in handling - its better to go for 245 tyres - itd give more grip and better ride! Any stiffness in suspension in a vertical direction gives better handling, how much depends how stiff it is, changng to 245 tyres will fill out the wheel wells ...
  7. I don't know if anyone agrees but to me Rx tyre prices seem overpriced compared to other sizes & the only reason I can think of that it might be due to a limited use of this size tyre ? I recently had 2 Nexen SUI's fitted at Lexus Manchester when the car went in for a service, they pricematched the tyre cost at £185 for the 2 and so far I'm very happy with them, they are a lot less noisy than the factory Bridgestone Potenza's & they also have pretty good ratings, for economy B & wet grip B and they are a lot cheaper than every other tyre manufacturer ... for info there are 2 versions of Nexen tyre for the Rx (RUI & SUI) ...
  8. Stiffer sidewall also means better handling, which isn't a bad thing ... ;-)
  9. It's definately growing on me Rayaan, I love the red leather, are there any more interior colour choices ? also the indicators are a nice touch & it's nice to see the spare wheel in the boot now where it should be .... it's a shame the sunroof isn't standard anymore though ... One of the things I do miss (on the Shogun) is the variable electronic suspension, are there any new changes on the Rx suspension set-up ? ...
  10. Thats exactly what I was thinking buddy, maybe this is solely a Levinson problem & hasn't been isolated as such ? ... On a similar note, even though the Rx is very reliable, if you look at the figures (Rx all versions 03-09) it shows over 24% of all faults (the highest number) are axle & suspension faults, I strongly suspect the majority of these faults don't apply to the Rx 400 (no air suspension etc) but still include it .... it still gets 92/100 though ... :D ... > http://www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/172
  11. I completely agtree Colin, fortunately I have never had the pleasure of sitting on the M25 ... lol ... I am a bit obsessed with the energy monitor & am convinced battery levels dissipate far faster on the odd hot day we get here in the sunny Uk ...
  12. Rx 400's don't have air suspension....but my seat is the same and I also feel I'm sitting askew ?
  13. 1 - yes it's 2015. Not sure if you realised but the RX450h has been out for 6 years and a new RX is coming out this year so we aren't talking about a new car here. 2 - the 450h does not suffer from these battery problems. I've left my car for 4 weeks every winter for the last 3 years and it starts fine. 3 - you're plucking figures out of the sky. The 400h wasn't anywhere near the region of £50k, the current RX is and its the most reliable car in its class - period - no ifs no buts, it just is. If there was a major issue, we'd know about it as Lexus sells 100k RXs annually in the US alone An RX400h SE L cost £43,000 in 2005. With inflation, that is equivalent to £56,000 today. Why haven't I had a 13 grand pay rise then ? ..... lol
  14. Can I ask if it's off an Rx 300 and am I correct in thinking it did 105k before needing it's first pump Chris ?
  15. Hi Steve, I'm sure most Rx owners have or will have this dilemma at some point, when I did my wheels I looked at the options which have been mentioned, in the end I went for powder coating & at the minute I'm glad I did, 18 months on & they still look mint & hopefully they will stay that way ... I did them in smoked chrome for £330 (same day) at TWS Manchester. I went for this as I think the process used in powdercoating was my best option for neutralizing the corrosion & sealing the wheels. I did look at aftermarket alloys but good quality ones in the same size & offset etc (avoiding paying for new tyres) are impossible to find or way too expensive, the cheap chinese ones are poor quality & damage very easily ...especially if you go for bigger wheels with lower profiles.... (plus new tyres for 20" + were £200 a corner) I also looked at secondhand ones but Lexus (or Kia ... lol) were the only ones in the same size & lets face it there hasn't been an Rx wheel invented that doesn't need a refurb so back to square one ... If you really want a different style I would go with the option Chris mentioned (newer Rx wheels) I have seen decent ones within your budget & they have the same load ratng etc ... don't forget you may have to inform your insurance if you change the wheels.
  16. It also has one in the passenger side footwell & every door handle recess.
  17. I think if you hold down the power button for a few seconds the system will reboot, this may do the trick, If not it will probably need a firmware update from your Lexus dealer ....
  18. Don't forget the complientary wash & vac ... ;-) ... I take it's an essentials service ?
  19. Your right ...I can't find any info as to who makes it, PZ420 is the Lexus part number for the manual .... it works flawlessly.
