  1. I believe updating to a post 2008 nav disc resolves this issue & allows for input while moving ... mine is pre-2008 so I can't confirm it but maybe someone else can ? ...
  2. The rx 400h didn't have air suspension .... it was only fitted on the rx 300/350 .... it's a common misconception as they are all referred to as "series 2" .... ;-]
  3. I would think the best option would be from a breaker ... this one has a biege interior & looks like it is in very good condition ... > Ebay item no. 181682645638 (paste the number into the ebay search box) ... I would be interested to know why the "one from the States don't fit European models" ... ?
  4. Thats what the B is for on the rx gearstick ...or the 2 on the Ls ...
  5. Hi Chris, as the petrol gauge nears the bottom it should trigger a little warning light near the guage, my gauge goes right to the bottom R mark & still isn't empty, according to Lexus' Bill Kwong it should still have "One to three gallons when the warning light is activated (depending on the model hybrid)." ... so even then it should do a fair few miles, for reference the best I have done is 44.5 mpg averaging 45-50 (over a 70 mile journey on a-roads) so I would say you'd have at least 30 miles on a very bad day ... also for info, if I run mine really really low (and i've done this quite often but have never once ran out of fuel) when I go roundabout or corner while accelerating I get a short sensation of power loss (most likely due to the fuel moving away from the extraction point in the tank) ... I normally look for a petrol station at this point, ... so it may be you have a faulty fuel level sender unit ?
  6. Lexus experience ? ... Lexus Manchester ... everytime I went in they f@*%ked something up ... first time I kept hearing a slight knocking after picking the car up from them, I found they had left a 10" screwdriver jammed behind the d/s front brake dust cover when I got home ... next time they very badly scraped the engine cover ... it looked like it had been skimmed 30 ft across the floor .. the last time I took it in because the waterpump was whining which happened (suprisingly shortly) after their very recent replacement & tensioning of my timing belt ... on top of that they tried to charge £80 diagnostic fee ... I told them what the problem was when I took it in !!! ... needless to say I refused to pay but the guy I was dealing with was a *****, I lost my rag after a bit & the showroom manager intervened & removed the charge from my bill ... there are a ton of other reasons why my experience of Lexus has not been good ... what can I say ... no wonder Lexus Manchester have shut down ... ... I love the Rx though ...
  7. I have had this a few times over the years .... cleaning the struts & hinges with Wd40 & squirting some on the motor arm always rectifies it for me for another year or 2 ...
  8. Congrats buddy ... I'm sure you wil love the Rx ... awesome vehicle.
  9. Good informative reviews Rayaans .... thanks for taking the time to share this,
  10. Thanks guys, I knew something wasn't right when I turned the wipers on, I checked the nuts are all tight & unless there is a software setting for wiper stroke postion I can only summise they must have physically undone the nut & moved the arm.... the only possible reason I can think that they would have done this is when you are sat in the car, the aero wiper blades raise the arm a lot higher into view above the bonnet (which I immediately noticed) when I fitted them 6 months ago ... and one of the Lexus guys has thought to move it further down out of view (but not realizing the stroke position would change ?) ... If I turn the wipers on full speed they now clash at the bottom ... not that I ever use that speed though ...
  11. Hi guys, got my Rx 400 back from Lexus (waterpump change) ... had to relearn everything as usual, but my wiper stroke seems too short ... when at rest their position looks right but at full stroke the drivers side wiper arm stops about 5 degrees short of vertical ... & I'm sure it was parralel with the front pillar before it went in ... it seems to stop in line of sight and leaves a wide strip on the windscreen (drivers side) uncleared, everything looks correct but it's as if the stroke isn't long enough, can anyone confirm if their wipers are vertical at full stroke position or any advice ?
  12. ... according to Lexus it isn't part of the schedule when replacing the timing belt & isn't even mentioned... neither was the water pump ...lol
  13. I agree Peter, I had also read some owners are on 150k + without changing it, so I thought I would chance my arm ...but that hasn't worked out so well ... lol it seems its standard deaer practice to not change the tensioner with the timing belt, a friend had the the tensioner fail after a timing belt change at a Vauxhall deaer & it wiped his engine out ... there is a lot of conflicting info as to whether or not the rx 400 is a non-interference.engine ?
  14. Cheers Garry, I had narrowed it down to the timing belt tensioner pulley or water pump ... turns out it was the water pump, Lexus did the timing belt a couple of months ago ... now it might be a coincidence but if the the timing belt was over-tensioned it could have caused the water pumps failure, so I'm a bit worried now about the tensioner pulley as they don't change it with the timing belt ...
  15. Hi guys, my Rx 400 has developed an erratic mechanical rattle somewhere near the oil filler cap, it's only when the engine runs ... any idea's hat it could be ?
  16. When a/c kicks in it usually fires the engine up (depending on temp) it has a power gauge instead of a rev counter ... engine revs are down to power usage ... you need to drive one of these Rx hybrids Chris ... ;-)
  17. Can someone please explain because I can't understand why you you would want to pay more for these tyres when there are better rated tyres out there which are a lot cheaper .... these are C rated for wet grip and C rated for economy ? ... or are these ratings nonsense ?
  18. If you can download a later map or rip one of a different disc, as long as its the same file type you can burn a new disc using your existing disc's file structure but swap the map files, it should work as per the original but with new maps ... it's easy to do you just need the right map file, use a decent disc like a verbatim or ritek ...
  19. Colin put a sticky at the top of this forum page with all the RX 450h equipment specifications & changes which may help you ...
  20. Comparitively speaking, 250 miles in a southerly direction may just add a couple of degree's ?... ;-)
  21. The 1st gen Rx 450 had different ride characteristics to the previous Rx 300/400 & this quote highlights that, it also highlights that air suspension was an option not a standard, something that some people may not know; I'm unsure if he has this option on his Rx 450 Sel but this revue also suggests it may be better suited for ride comfort if it did... so you can see why I chose this quote ... I personally wouldn't have air suspension which is one of the reasons I chose the 400 but simply stating what I or you prefer doesn't really add any value to this topic ... I thnk we all agree Rx's are a great car otherwise we wouldn't be driving them ...You could always write the Telegraph if your upset though ... lol
  22. It may not be the same cause but I've seen this exact same problem on a Bmw tourer, a friend at work had it intermittently but it did get gradually worse, all the windows & sunroof would be open when he finished work (private secure carpark) it definately wasn't his the fob as it was broke & he was using the key, It turned out to be a fault on the central locking which was caused by water ingress in the drivers door central locking switch ...
  23. When my wife.used to work in insurance the standard was if you turned it down you got 2 further offers. can I ask what make/model car it was ?
  24. Bought my Rx 400 Se 3 years ago and the battery was a couple of years old then ... I leave it stood for weeks on end all the time (I do less than 4k a year) ... I have no solar panels, no trickle charger and had no problems, evidence seems to suggest this may be just an Sel problem .... namely the Levinson audio system ...I think it may be the 2 extra speakers ... lol has anyone else checked thier amp lately ... >>>>
