I'm not sure if this is a warning, a request for advice, or both!
I had a crack in my OEM screen a while ago, some of you may have seen it at the Donnington Goldies meet. I had it replaced through my insurance by RAC A/W at my home. Well, I did eventually!
They failed to turn up twice! I got annoyed and spoke with the manager several times and eventually a third appointment was made and the fitter turned up!
A week or so later, I take the car to my local hand car wash, ( I don't get as much time as some of you to polish it myself!), and I notice a trickle of water running down the inside if my screen!!
So I'm straight off RAC A/W to complain and arrange another replacement. This time I have it done at their depot and watch them eagerly! Before this, I have been to Lexus Hatfield to ask for advice and it appears my screen had been fitted low. Causing the seal to sit incorrectly in the aperture.
I pass this info on the RAC A/W and they insist it will be fitted correctly this time.
Today, after some reasonably heavy rain, I return to my car from work to find a puddle of water in my gearstick gaiter!! :megaangry: :megaangry:
Straight of to RAC A/W again! They now know me well! I have arranged to let them have it for the day on Monday to keep an eye on it as the glue sets, make sure it doesn't drop and stuff.
Do you think if it fails again I should insist that it replaced again by a Lexus dealer with OEM glass at RAC A/W's expense? (They are using Pilkington glass.) I don't think this is unreasonble, but they do not seem keen!
In the mean time be careful about RAC Auto Windscreens! BTW I am using the Luton branch. If I ever have screen change again I shall not be using them again!
Any comments appreciated!
