  1. Regen braking is not actually via braking. The system regenerates via motor/generator when power is not in demand. Braking is the best form of stopping, however, the B mode is just like shifting from 4th to 2nd in a manual car, plus this mode does charge battery by reversing direction of motor to charge battery. When battery is fully charged, the system knows this and does not apply regen. If battery was overcharged it would possibly explode. It is cheaper to replace brake pads opposed to transmission. Normal brake pads are also standard fit.
  2. I'm sure I won't be lugging a 12v battery everywhere I leave my car parked whilst on holiday. I left mine for 2 weeks recently and had no issues with it starting. As long as the battery is decent, it should not run flat over 2 weeks of non use.
  3. The car has hill start assist so should engage park and apply park brake. If you then engage D and release park brake, car will hold as though park brake is engaged.
  4. If Lexus state its for life them why bother changing? Oils these days are designed to last longer than service intervals. Do you top up fluids in your sealed for life batteries? If anything happens due to oil degradation you just point to for life statement. Don't forget this also helps the environment by reducing disposal into land fill etc.
  5. Latest - they will pay for seat but not labour. I have asked them to send to my local dealer where I will collect and get it fitted by my son who is Lexus trained. They want £130 for fitting. That was 4 days ago and have had no reply - although I am on holiday. Let's see what they come back with.
  6. Where was that from? Looks a great deal. I actually got them from my local Lexus dealer. Asked them to beat internet price and they did quite easily
  7. I didn't appear to help much with that seat of yours, they just called it fair wear and tear didn't they?I would imagine they would call my front strut fair wear and tear too. I really don't like extended warranties on Lexus cars since they are charging for something which is included free with Toyotas. IE 5 years full warranty not just the hybrid kit. I don't much like extended warranties full stop. If goods cant last a reasonable time beyond warranty expiry, I lose interest in them pretty quickly. As a general rule if I don't think something will last until I can afford to replace it, I look for a better deal. It actually did. They did say car was out of warranty until I pointed out I had extended it. However, I do agree Lexus should provide 5 years with their vehicles. I would try to claim off Lexus for your suspension - problem is it could have been a pothole in which case I would claim off council concerned.
  8. I think it pays to have extended warranty. £495 over 10 months for 2 years piece of mind. This also includes 2 years Lexus assist.
  9. Do your research. Tyres are now rated for different attributes so need to look at what you want and factor in what you want to pay I recently bought good year efficient grip as they have a good rating and around £50 fitted.
  10. Maybe an email to Lexus would prompt them to look at this issue. Seems to be too many with this problem.
  11. Isnt that what you want? to change the seat as a good will gesture? That suggests they're paying for it right? No. They stated there would be a cost & would advise me what it would be. Not been contacted as yet.
  12. I have already contacted Lexus customer services & they have stated they will only change as good will gesture. I'm Ready for the fight and possibly move away from Lexus brand.
  13. I've asked them to investigate mine when it goes in for a new drivers for check arm - clicking when opening/closing. This car has been in more times than my yaris ever was. Time to change me thinks.
  14. Wouldn't surprise me if they did ask for that amount. They can ask but they won't get it.
  15. They inserted that for the old 1zz engine which burnt oil for fun. I have to say though, mine doesn't budge. Best to record each top up and submit it to Lexus. I would log a complaint also via your dealer. They had supposedly resolved this on our engines. Check you breather pipes are clear from crankcase and cam cover. If they are clogged it will blow oil past pistons.
  16. Latest - they have agreed to change as "good will" gesture but not total amount. So a seat will cost £500 ( ish ) and will expect me to pay half plus labour to fit. They can dream on! I will start to get public with it if this is the case.
  17. I agree, it is poor. Check your settings to ensure you have AF ON. Some stations broadcast on different frequencies throughout GB. I tend to switch off and play music off USB now. Many have commented on the poor reception when in mine. If enough of us complain, they may start to investigate.
  18. At least you're staying with lexus - sensible decision. God luck with the IS, my next car.
  19. It won't make much difference with engines that run Atkinson cycle. They are designed to run efficiently with shorter piston strokes. Using anything over 95 RON is just waiting your money. Why buy an hybrid if you want performance? Your driving style will benefit the mpg more than super.
  20. I'm looking for bike rack for rear but roof rack could be an alternative option. Try the normal sites - bit also try Lexus. If you are cheeky, ask for a discoint, you never know.......
  21. I do prefer looking at rev counter - it gives you confirmation when engine is not running. I also use it to try and judge how engine is working in different conditions.
  22. Has anyone fitted camera to rear and/or installed power socket?
  23. Mine certainly don't look like new. Heard there may be a recall on seat wear??
  24. You can't get rev counter back on cruise control. Not sure why you would need it to be honest. I display hybrid power distribution when in cruise to understand how system is applying power. Current mpg display is also a good indicator. Noticed yesterday, my mpg is 60 at moment. Must be down to warm weather and more efficient warm-up and running. Using cruise control also helps.
  25. The old 1.8 engine was renown for it but engine in ct should not burn oil. I can only assume they filled to Max, ran engine ( oil circulates through galleries and fills filter ) & did not recheck level. Alternatively, you could have a leak. Either way, take it back and demand a top up plus check for leaks. I had my timing cover gasket changed recently due to slight oil leak.
