  1. Beautiful car....hope you enjoy it greatly and it gives you good service. How you going to get on with an auto box ?
  2. Had to postpone the trip to Caersws. I'm going to collect a guitar amplifier I've bought, the seller called me this morning to say he had 4 inches of snow overnight and it was still falling ! Didn't risk it, even with a snow button. Mrs ledzep has visions of flamethrowers emerging from the fog lamp housing to melt the snow and ice as we proceed
  3. How dare you accuse me of not reading the thread ! Maybe I'm misunderstanding your posts, but everyone else's is crystal clear. You need to decide what your real buying criteria are. Performance ? MPG ? Comfort ? Looks ?....the list goes on. My point remains, mpg is of reduced importance with a low annual mileage.
  4. ^ This. Can't be bothered going into the whys and wherefores, everyone else has done that admirably.
  5. Hi Andy, My comment was tongue in cheek. I use the Gliptone products for cleaning and conditioning the leather. The conditioner is a little bit marmite, but I'm comfortable with its aroma.
  6. Thanks Normski. Yes, you've recalled all the place names correctly. I work in Crosshands and live just 5 miles away between there and Llandeilo. South West Wales is a beautiful part of the world and we love living here. That's why I've got a convertible ! We have many days out in the Summer, £30 worth of fuel and £20 for a couple of bar meals makes for a great day out. Not done it in the Lexus yet, used to have a 9-3 Aero convertible. Can't wait for some sunshine. I'll be experimenting with paddles
  7. My IS250C has Ivory leather, my wife and I always wear clean clothes, so it doesn't mark. Children may be another matter though.
  8. I'll be driving through Rhayader up to Caersws near Newtown. I'll give the lakes a wide berth !
  9. Thanks Normski, I find the manual as clear as mud ! I suspect you're correct, mine is one of the very first convertible IS250s. It has the side indicators in the mirrors, not in the wings, so points to being a facelift IIUC. I'm on an eighty miles foray into Mid Wales on Friday, all twisty and hilly. I'll give it a try and report back.
  10. Mine's Aug 2009. Am I in danger of buggering something up if I try shifting a paddle when in "D" ? Thanks.
  11. Thanks Normski, yes, I'm aware of this. My question was whether the paddles work the way John describes when in auto D mode ?
  12. Thanks for a great post John....as always ! Is the stick in auto D as you're operating the paddles or is it in the manual mode ? Wasn't aware that you could use paddles to force a downchange whilst in auto mode. Not sure I have "S" mode ?
  13. A 16 miles daily commute suggests an annual mileage of less than 10k. Really not sure why all the fuss about mpg with such a low mileage..........just buy the car you're happy to drive
  14. Gorgeous.....enjoy ! Full review expected please.
  15. I've only tried my power switch once or twice. I'd be interested to know the impact on mpg ?
  16. I had a ML system on my previous IS250 SE-L but just have the standard kit on my present IS250C SE-L. To be honest, I hear little difference. A motor vehicle is not the ideal environment to be judging HiFi issues
  17. You saying you don't like my a*se end Verbout ? I receive many admiring glances
  18. I like rambliness Bob, good post. I've not needed to bother my local (60 miles away !) dealer in Cardiff much, but they have always been helpful. Just this week I asked them to process a claim on my Lexus extended warranty and after I submitted a few relevant photos they confirmed the problem was covered. It's booked in week after next for the work.
  19. I live in Carmarthenshire in South West Wales, a million miles from everywhere My last four cars have been collected from Milton Keynes, Wrexham, Newark and my present one from Southport. Two Saabs and two Lexus, all bought blind after serious discussions with the vendor. All have been excellent. You can usually make a good judgement on the seller. I do have past experience in the motor trade, albeit 30 odd years ago, traders buy blind all the time based on an unwritten trust between dealers.
  20. Not familiar with the 0806 Eric. I have mine recording on 1080P, whatever that means ? It is very sharp indeed and it takes a 32Mb sd card, so plenty of capacity.
  21. I did the same as you advised Ed, fitted a panel of black vinyl cut to shape beneath the camera. As you say, looks like a factory install just like the rain sensor.
  22. As Kodiak Sky says, the dotty shade area extends lower down the screen on a saloon than my convertible. When mounting mine, I considered the best place for it in relation to my rear view mirror. That's probably why it ended up where it is.
  23. I agree, it was only after I'd mounted it that I realised I could have shortened the cable cover bit. Never mind, I'm very pleased with both the install and the quality of the camera. It was your original thread that put me on to this camera Ed, so thanks for that. Best £50 I've spent on the car !
