  1. I agree, side by side comparison would be ideal. To clarify : I am sure that the ML system is technically superior. However, my main point is the compromised listening environment of a car. The non ideal listening space narrows the gap between the two systems in my opinion. Both are enjoyable.....that's the important thing !
  2. I wouldn't be too concerned about the lack of ML sound. My previous IS250 saloon had ML with 14 (I think) speakers. My current IS250C has standard kit with 11 speakers. In the context of a compromised listening environment of a car, I can detect no difference in my enjoyment of my music. I'm a bit of an audiophile with a dedicated listening room at home, so sound quality is important to me.
  3. Haven't tried to persuade you to a convertible. I am very impressed that you are able to assert what "type" of person I am based only on the car that I drive ! Remarkable ! To be absolutely honest Toffee, I wouldn't have a clue about predicting your person "type" based only on you being a Subaru driver. Fortunately, you've made sufficient posts on this forum for me to assert with absolute confidence that you are an extremely rude and obnoxious half-wit "type".
  4. The same V6 you extolled the virtues of for a long while despite its manual gearbox. I have no interest in leaving A5s for dust, would prefer Audi drivers use their indicators ! If I wanted a performance car I'd have bought an ISF or something else. Pleased you're happy with your wheels Eric, but Subaru no interest whatsoever on a Lexus forum.
  5. Agree with that Toffee, depends on your driving style and aspiration. Shame your comfort in the Lexus was compromised by having to move your left leg and arm repeatedly.
  6. Get nice comments about mine too. Mostly in supermarket car parks ! There are only 800 or so IS250 convertibles in the UK and me being in West Wales makes mine an even rarer animal. It's lovely that people notice and even lovelier that they bother to say something. Gives me a smug grin
  7. For what it's worth Shahpor, Toffee_pie has a habit of being insulting on here. As far as I know, he no longer owns a Lexus and the one he had was a IS250 but with the manual gear box. Not the ideal Lexus IS either. Pleased you're enjoying yours and are able to see around the cars weakness and enjoy your ride.
  8. I don't bother with wheel insurance, but I am getting fed up of my wife saying "It's ok darling, I'll walk to the pavement from here"
  9. Welcome John.....lovely looking vehicle. Those wheels look a bugger to keep clean !
  10. That's pretty much what I get too. Highest reading I've seen on the Tank Average is 38 and that was going east on the M4 with cruise at 70mph. Think my convertible is heavier than the saloon, so I'm pleased with that.
  11. Don't think you'll be disappointed. It's a quiet area on the roads, but New Quay gets very busy with limited parking facilities. Hope the weather is kind to you.....enjoy !
  12. Beautiful scenery, great A roads and a lovely car. Thanks for your comments guys.
  13. Good weather forecast so Mrs ledzep and I went exploring. From home through Llandeilo and Lampeter to Aberaeron. Stopped there for coffee. Then on to New Quay, Chish & Fips there on the front watching for dolphins. A brief stop in Cardigan then home through Newcastle Emlyn and Carmarthen. Beautiful scenery and lovely A roads. In sport mode throughout and in drive, couldn't be bothered with paddles ! A leisurely drive outwards and a spirited drive going home. According to the dash read out, averaged 32.6mpg from fill up this morning. Very pleased with that. As an aside, the lifetime (?) mpg on the screen when I collected the car last November was 25.6mpg. This has improved (from 33k to 37k) to 27.3mpg. Maybe the previous owner did lots of short journeys, drove like a maniac, or I drive like a grandad !!! None of the above really matters, I'm loving my car
  14. Turned it off after 20 minutes. Same stupidity.....different clowns !!
  15. That's the way I work Tom. Always on a top quality, full sh, low mileage used car. Let the original purchaser take the lion's share of the depreciation. Usually bought private or from an independent. I'm always very careful when I buy, patience is a virtue ! I once ran a 56 plate Saab 93 Aero Sportwagon for 10 months and sold it for a £300 profit. I don't lose much on my cars. Rayaan, 3.4% is very good atm and obtained through my bank. I've always shopped around and never been taken for a ride !
  16. Back on topic lex28. I'm not a wealthy guy and I use the bank to finance the purchase of my cars. I budget £300 every month for my car. My present loan is based on 3.4% apr so is not into rip off territory. I tend to change every 2 years and it works for me. It's a bit like a company having a £300 pcm lease budget, but I own my vehicle at the end. With careful purchase of a six year old car, the depreciation is usually less than my bank payments. Then I move on to the next one using the last vehicle as down payment on the new one (to me). Not sure I'll change this one though, quite rare and only done 37k with full LSH. We'll see when the time comes.
  17. Well done Dylan....lovely car Don't forget to change the date to 2012 in your profile. That's if you have time, with all the washing and polishing you'll be doing Great to see you this afternoon, thanks for popping round.
