I saw those struts when I got curious about the origins of mine. They look far better value, and no ultra long distance selling issues. Still no response from them? I ask because I have a later 430 in mind, and the only way to buy them is after the air suspension has failed :) My car came fitted with these: http://www.strutmasters.com/products/2000-2006-lexus-ls430-4-wheel-air-suspension-conversion-kit-td14f/ I was stunned by the price. I'd want a lifetime parts and labour guarantee for that!

No no, it is because your mind is at a high level so trivia passes beneath you. I'd like to use that excuse for losing my navigation book :( I can account for the other Lexus books and wallets, but not the one I want to look at. AJ started it, then this forced me to think my car might have voice recognition too http://www.edmunds.com/lexus/ls-430/2001/road-test-2/ Is the UL much different in spec to the UK PP? (their steering wheel being on the wrong side excepted).

& recognition isn't acknowledgment. All power to you sir! :)I used to have Joanna Lumley... .. sat on my phone. I still miss her saying: "Darling, you'll have to turn round" Katana, I tried talking to the Lexus dame as advised, but no joy. Though she hasn't said much to me since I spanked her for parking me outside the new Birmingham Rep. when I had clearly stated I wanted the Masshouse car park.

This has possibilities: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/solaire-camper-top-sierra-van-barn-find-project-/400929681830?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5d594571a6 Any advice on inverting an overweight Lexus? I'm thinking if I can sell off my pair of those ridiculous LS 430 headlight washers, then the 'thing' above might arrive for free.

The automotive equivalent of stone cladding (& devaluing) your house. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-Lexus-LS400-4-0-V8-Tein-Blitz-SSR-Vienna-much-more-Superb-condition/331556532450?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140107083358%26meid%3D1068e30d078147bbb3ad21459fe1d1b8%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D10%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D261895164085 Though it could be the way I was raised. Hot machinery that looked dead ordinary was the goal. Far more fun.

On reading about this gem, I started thinking I should throw my coil sprung 430 away as I don't have sheaves of paper telling me what all the new parts (& labour) cost the previous owners. Then, after reading that :"Everything seems to be working fine" (I bet it has a shiny tool kit too...more envy at this end), I reached the crunch moment:"There is however, a problem with the rear shock absorbers which are not working at present," http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS430-2-Private-Owners-Masses-of-Service-History-156-000-miles-/371339158766?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item567589e4ee I'm tempted to ask if they will break it as I'd like to fix my headlight washers, & I have a missing front sensor too. I wonder if they knew, or perhaps someone, bored with years of trading, didn't bother to drive it before giving a p/x price

Much as I love the effortless power; armchair comfort; & (coil sprung) chuckability of my 430, I still miss my sleek bespoke panel van motorhome conversion ... (OK OK, I nailed it together using a secondhand caravan interior). So I have been looking at compromises. The first item that threw up was this delightful amalgamation of one of Ford's worst, & Ginetta (yes the fg car maker) I doubt that has the vital hot shower. Then I remembered this famous Rover P5. OK, so it needs a bit of work on the drag coefficient, but with access to the Bullet Train wind tunnel anything would be (almost) possible. What do you think?

Can confirm 28 is the solar sensor as the code didn't appear in bright light. The very obliging guys at ATS Liskeard did the decent thing & insisted on a long pressure test for free, which the car unsurprisingly failed. (The hardest part was getting the Groupon refund via their suddenly awkward software). Mildly off-topic: As the vent output was a tad feeble I took out the pollen filter & tried the fan without it. I could comb my hair with the blast. The filter was black so I decided to wash it expecting a soggy mess. It survived. Reinstalled after drying & the hair drying gale was still there! :) Zia, is it possible if showing a code 23 that the software will prevent the compressor from engaging?

Steve, may this newbie suggest a solution to the one possible issue with your method? You need one of these: Now, unless you are going to mount it under on the bonnet you will need to bash a couple of holes in the bulkhead for the two croc clips, (or if you are the sophisticated type that prefers a remote earth, one croc clip for the battery +ve). Granted bulkhead hole(s) will increase the noise level, but isn't that what most of us with an LS want? I think it would slip unobtrusively onto the near side back seat; you could even offer it a seat belt if you are a health & safety nut. Please don't heap praise & awards upon me. Just knowing I have made a useful contribution to this insurmountable forum is sufficient reward for me. Thank you :)

Before rushing to ATS with my Groupon voucher, I thought I'd try the 'hold recirc & auto buttons, turn on ign & let it beep' on-board fault code method, (plaudits to him responsible for posting that one :0 ). I know that's for the 400 but I thought it was worth a try, & it produced lucky nos 23 & 28, (& I felt quite pleased with myself for a techno-resisting old-skool diesel man). I'm guessing one is the solar sensor complaining about UK weather, & t'other most likely is pressure? But who knows for sure? These aren't obd kind of nos, & thus techno-resistance mode engages again - HELP, please!!! :0)
