  1. yes I had the tyre gunk on mine, looked like old engine oil, after a month or so, and several washes, it is now all gone from around the wheels etc. How they took it off, not sure, I think it was a hot air gun/hairdrier, then cleaned any glue residue.
  2. Thanks Rayaan, I had been looking into this, but not sure about the protective coating, my understanding is that with a protective coating then most treatments tend to leave a shiny finish, the dodo one seems to give a matt finish which is better, a sealant will then hopefully keep it cleaner for longer.
  3. On my daughters yaris, she scraped it, I went to a local company who do vinyls etc, and they charged about £20 to replace it, removed existing, and cut a new one to match, I think it is worth leaving on, but they do tend to show a dirt line around the edges after a few years, particularly on lighter cars.
  4. Just checked mine, as soon as the postcode is entered it just goes to the nav screen with no option for house numbers, what system do you have? Mines A premium?
  5. Unfortunately no way of knowing until it's too late, I guess I just bought into the lexus "hype" the reality is they are just another dealer out to make money, and have to say not a patch on the last hyundai dealer I used.
  6. Thanks David, all looks relatively minor, but really takes the edge off. I found the preparation on mine was poor, and every time it went back it ended up with more dirt marks on the light leather.
  7. My Is300h has lovely ivory leather which is what sold it to me, I hate dark depressing interiors, but the downside is that it gets grubby quite easily, so far I have just wiped over with a damp cloth which has worked well, but what can I use to clean and keep it soft, I have looked on detailing world, but few if any lexus specific recommendations, generally bmw/Mercedes with their elephant hide type leather as opposed to our lovely soft leather.
  8. I think you can only enter the house number if you enter the address, if you use postcode, you don't have the option to enter house number.
  9. Difficult to tell, but what is the first picture?
  10. Probably because they are concentrating too much on their mobiles, texting/twitter/faceache etc, see it all the time.
  11. I've noticed this a lot recently, a lot of drivers seem to panic as soon as they see lights , and tend to brake hard, and or swerve, often stopping next to an island or other obstruction meaning the emergency vehicle can not pass anyway.
  12. As "bad" as the lecustomer sat nav is, for most of my needs it is ok, it could do some things better, or have a flashier interface, but it always gets me where I want to go, the traffic function is particularly good, admittedly Google maps would work as well, but would be on a small screen, I would need to mount the phone somewhere (not easy in an is!)and end up with trailing wires which I hate, much prefer a built in system, although I agree the cost should be far less, the technology costs are minimal now.
  13. Rayaan, your comment about grubby fingerprints is the reason I will probably not be returning to Lexus, I resent paying double for a shoddy service, given that I will probably need two services a year, I resent paying an extra £300pa over a good specialist.
  14. All of that looks like sloppiness, however your final point about them sending the money to the wrong person is the key issue, all barclays accounts show as Leicester so that is fine, but it sounds like a digit or digits have been entered incorrectly, the issue being did you provide incorrect details or did they input incorrectly, unfortunately as you provided verbally it will be difficult to prove either way. Lexus will have to try to get the payment returned, which could take some time, they may feel they have paid the refund in good faith, so may be reluctant to pay you until they get their money back. I know exactly how you feel about the car, I had a relatively minor issue with mine when I bought it, and the whole thing really took the shine off the car, and at the time I just wanted to get rid of it, now the issue is resolved I feel better about the car, but the"magic"is still not there, hopefully that will improve with time.
  15. Thank you Renato, another indication that I may have a issue with mine.
  16. Thank you Steve, I do find this forum very defensive, interestingly none of the posters saying 70 is too fast drive IS's, if I was retired driving an old Lexus for pleasure, I would probably slow down, but my car is used to earn me a living so I have to drive between appointments, and I will slow down if necessary, but if I have a 200 mile journey to make I will not slow to 55-60 (unless it is snow!) Like you I use Rainex, if I can drive in Rain without wipers, and still have a clear view, I do not deem it too heavy! Your comments re-assure me, and will investigate the tyres further tonight if I get a chance, as I suspect something may be slightly out there, as 70mph in a modern car should be safe.
  17. I have never had an issue with any other car at 70 mph, the incidents I refered to, I was simply keeping up with the flow of traffic, I was not driving like a idiot. From some of the comments posted, maybe the IS is not safe in rain after all, it should be safe to drive through small puddles, I am not talking about deep standing water.
  18. I have not mentioned a torrential downpour, just heavy rain. A bmw x5 with its cartoon like tyres has a kerb weight of approx 2150kg, the IS About 1650kg, so the bmw has greater loading on the tyre, wider tyres certainty won't help wet weather stability and resistance to aquaplaning, something which the x6 driver you referred to probably found out the hard way.
  19. Will give the tyres a good check over at the weekend, I see you have an f sport, so same size tyres, so good to hear the car can be driven "normally " in safety in rain.
  20. Standard Bridgestones, not sure which spec, will check the pressures when I get a chance, interesting you say yours doesn't tug the steering, that is what I noticed.
  21. Sorry, but 70mph in heavy raini is not stupid, I have 30+ years of experience, covering upto 50,000 miles a year, and have never had a car which feels so unstable, I am talking heavy rain, with some standing water in the wheel ruts, visibility is/was perfectly adequate, I wasn't driving blind. I feel the tyre size is excessively wide, chosen for vanity rather than safety and comfort.
  22. Sounds like I have been spoilt by the stability of my previous cars, except in extreme rain and standing water, I have never felt the need to slow down excessively in rain, over taking a lorry on the a13 earlier, I backed off at 60mph , never needed to do that before (and I already drive a lot slower than I use to)
  23. Just discovered. Co.uk and. Com both go to the same site!
