  1. Personally I feel most speed cameras are only there to catch the unobservant/careless, anyone who cannot spot a camera, is not observant enough to be driving over the speed limit anyway, and so should get a ticket.
  2. I would be careful using them in slippery conditions, as engine braking will only be on the rear wheels, and will be less sensitive than using the brakes, could cause loss of traction quite easily.
  3. I have removed the grill it is simply a case of prying up carefully, with it raised, the buzz can be eliminated by pulling the trim between the grill and screen lip forward, so I have just today tried wedging a couple of matches in the gap, will see how it goes over the next few days.
  4. I use mine regularly for engine breaking, rarely using the brakes, also fun occasionally to pop into sport, turn the boy racer sound generator up and accelerate away from lights/roundabout.
  5. You can't really compare a 330e with an is, the is is not an electric car, it is a hybrid, with eV pOwer to boost refinement and mpg, the BMW is really just a compliance vehicle offering tax advantages but little real world economy benefits, as an example yesterday I did about 120 miles, and averaged about 50 mpg, the BMW would have given me about 15-20 miles "free" but ten would have been 40 mpg at best, so still would have used more petrol overall. The BMW only has anot advantage for short trips.
  6. The M25 on Weekdays is fine between about 9:30 and 3:00pm, if you come up the M3 or M4 you will only be on it about 40 minutes if you take the M11. I have hit the M25 at 5:00 pm coming back from Exeter and sailed around with no traffic, even when busy you will normally still do 30-40mph most of the way.
  7. Very true................but sad. I find on a boring journey it can be quite a challenge......but still have a play in sport mode using the paddles every now and then.
  8. You could set way points such as Oxford, Aylesbury, Luton, letchworth, then as you approach each way point, delete it so it routes you to the next one, I think you will find the route quite slow and busy though, as there are few "fast" roads on the route you are taking.
  9. You should be able to beat that quite easily, on a run of that nature, I can get 55-60 mpg.
  10. Sorry to hear this, I had mine keyed a while ago so now have a blackvue hardwired to try to if not prevent anything else, hopefully identify the scum. I have a black Vue, which is a bit more subtle. Just wondered if your recovery would cover you as the car is "undriveable"?
  11. I get this nearly all the time when trying to connect to anything online, it seems the connection is very unreliable.
  12. Thanks darrude, looking back, I think it was actually my post, doh!
  13. I get a constant buzz/rattle from what seems to be the central speaker above the sat nav screen, anyone had any success in curing this?
  14. I suspect you will change your driving style to suit the hybrid, it tends to encourage a more relaxed style of driving, and you will probably feel more relaxed. Having said that, the IS300h has 3 modes-eco/normal and sport, eco will feel sluggish, normal, ok, but sport will really sharpen the response, and In that mode, I suspect you will be happy, try one and see. I also think you will be hard pushed to get anywhere near 20mpg?
  15. Just because an engine had to be replaced, doesn't necessarily imply any other problems, modern engines can be wrecked simply by driving too fast through a deep puddle, could be a good buy, as it presumably has a brand new engine, presumably the price is keen?
  16. I think Road Angel fit it with Mobile fitters for £289, looks quite a low spec though?
  17. It depends what you are looking for, My son has a B40/A118c "wedge" which is probably the neatest /best looking available with great picture quality, but is front only, these are about £50 on ebay , I wanted "quality" and something that would last, so went for the blackvue DR650 with front and rear camera's this was £239 from Ebay with a free power monitor, which switches off power if the voltage drops below 12v, so it will continue to monitor the car when parked(my car was recently keyed, so if it happens again, maybe I will record the scum) Whilst the build quality and general feel of this is solid, I would not say it is as good picture quality wise as my sons cheaper unit. Installation is relatively simple, the power feeds can be taken from the fuse box in the passenger footwell using piggy back feeds, or direct from the cigarette lighter if just using the plug, but then you would lose the parking mode. The cables are simply tucked behind trim panels, the whole job shouldn't take more than an hour.
  18. Just fitted a blackvue dr650 on my is300h, and my old bugbear is back - poor reception on dab, I suspect this is down to the cable routing for the rear camera, which I have taken up the lhs and across the rear lhs headlining, I think the dab aerial is on the left rear screen, anyone else fitted to an is300h, and cured this? I will try re running the cables on the rhs to see if that helps.
  19. Thanks, fuse box was what I had been looking at, but didn't want to force the cover, as couldn't see it clearly, now accessed, looking to install a Blackvue 2ch (£239 from ebay) do you know if the fuses are mini or micro fuses?
  20. Thank you Martin, that is what I suspected, just didn't want to force it.
  21. Anyone know how to remove the speaker grill on top of the dash? The rattle is driving me mad, does it just pry off?
  22. Chris, Can I ask how many miles/tread depth your tyres have? I also think the tyres are causing the tramlining/sensitivity, my tyres still have 5-6mm after 26,000 miles seeming hardly worn.
