  1. My last 2 cars were an MG ZTT , fantastic car in Ignition blue, turned heads, as was unusual, took it to Monaco, and it got more attention than the 2 a penny exotica down there! Last car was a Hyundai Santa fe, which despite being 10 years old and 120k + I have gone back to, as i am now doing more miles than expected so trying to keep the mileage down on the IS, the Santa fe is built like a tank and I suspect will outlast the IS, it is quieter at a cruise - less road noise, rattle free, and rides better. also as it is comparatively worthless, I worry less about where I take it.
  2. I agree 46/49 psi seems ridiculous, but thought it worth a try. After a bit more research, I have found common causes of tramlining are: "high performance tyres" are more likely to tramline than those with deeper treads, as they have more contact with the road, and so tend to be more influenced Long wheelbase cars tend to be more sensitive Runflat tyres due to stiffer side walls transmit more road faults, hence making the tramlining worse. Although the Bridgestone ER33's are not runflats, the sidewalls are incredibly stiff, the first point would make sense as the problem is getting worse as the tyres wear down. Looking back, I think tramlining has been the problem all the time, a lot of the roads I drive on (A12 particularly) are worn out tarmac, which have deep ruts caused by hgv's these are the roads where the car tends to "wander" as it moves in and out of the ruts. Looking on various forums Bridgestone's do tend to be susceptible to tramlining. so I may decide to junk the bridgestones with 5-6mm left in favour of the uniroyals which despite just being on the rear have already improved the noise levels in the car.
  3. Recently I have noticed the car seeming to tramline badly, which could could be related to my previous issues, I had the tracking checked, but it was within spec, however when the garage checked their data base it showed the pressures should have been 46/4 psi, they inflated to this as a trial and it seemed to run true, anyone use these pressures, they seem excessive, and make the ride even worse. The car had now done 21k, and I changed the rear tyres to uniroyal rainsport 3's a few weeks ago, which improved the ride and noise levels over the bridgestones, the front tyres still have 5.5-6 mm but the tram lining was there before hand, is it a characteristic of the hard bridgestones once they are half worn? At the moment the car is not pleasurable to drive, I need to get these issues sorted.
  4. Fresh rainX works great, a few years back I drove to the south of France in torrential rain and didn't need the wipers at all on the autoroute, only when slowing down around Paris and for tolls, it lasts about 3-4 weeks, a bottle lasts years.
  5. Sparks, I also have a galaxy s5. I find connection for texts and email is random, some days it works others not, how do you find it?
  6. Not making excuses for them, but the week before Christmas was probably manic, and with the best will in the world they could have just overlooked/forgotten to call, I am very strong on getting back to my clients, but I have missed call backs before, give them as chance as presumably it will be easier for you to deal with them than go elsewhere?
  7. If you think it helps it probably will do, but as far as I am concerned there is minimal difference, petrol is petrol to most cars, and they can't tell the difference, so any difference is purely in the mind if the driver.
  8. As far as u remember all my cars have turned all the windows off apart from the drivers , I find it useful as my dad is obsessed with opening and closing windows, which then leaves water trails/smears .

  10. A lot of the 12v adaptors give low power on the USB's, they can also cause interference on the DAB system. Can you not hard wire the dashcam to declutter?
  11. If you are charging from the usb it will only give 450mah you need a usb adaptor from the 12v socket then you will get 1200mah.
  12. Must have been one hell of a hill to knock it down by 4 mpg after 12 miles, where was the hill? Everest?!
  13. I persume she must leave it in 'sport' mode and bury the loud pedal at evey opptunity....Hope your budgeting for new rear tyres soon :) OK so I reset the computer before setting off. Total mileage was 12 miles in normal mode. Grand total was 32mpg with heater set at 20.5 auto. I'm getting 30mpg in my RX atm. Maybe it's because the car has only 11k miles on it? You must be driving like you stole it, to get that kind of mileage you have a serious problem.
  14. Interestingly looking at Fuelly they NX is 37.1MPG, whereas the RX is only 32.8MPG and the IS is 39.9mpg, sol all seem to be in line.
  15. On another forum someone posted that they were getting much better mpg with premium fuel, to back up their argument they even posted their figures, when analysed properly, their was no significant difference, any gain seemed to be because when using day to day they used supermarket fuel, only using"premium" fuel on long trips which would give better figures anyway.
  16. I'd rather 4% meat in my petrol than 60-90%! Completely different example, clearly there is a benefit with quality cat food, "premium" petrol seems to be more a marketing ploy, I have tried both and never found much if any difference, I have also not seen any tests by magazines etc clearly shouting about the benefits, if premium was much better, why are car manufacturers not recommending it ?
  17. It seems evilaudi incident was just a freak impact by something hitting the bumper near the sensor, and was just extremely unlucky. In terms of cost and writing off an older car, an accident causing the bonnet to pop up I suspect would normally also fire the airbags which would cost thousands more, this is the cost of safety.
  18. The new bonnet will need spraying, it is likely that the front wings (I assume that's what you mean by "fender" - that is what we call them this side of the pond) will need blending in. The F-sport badges are presumably stuck on, and will need to be removed for spraying, so will need to be replaced.
  19. Driven gently the electric motor will run up to 46mph, but any acceleration or hills will see the petrol engine kick in. On anything over 4-5 miles mid forties mpg should be possible. I have the ml system and find it good, dab is good quality whereas on the standard system dab sounds poor.
  20. In that case with 2 overpriced services a year gold membership should be a bargain!
  21. I am considering gold membership with this weekend's discount, specifically to get the discount at dealers, is this all dealers or just some? The dealers I will use are ipswich.
  22. Don't know how you are calculating the mpg, but 250 miles on 25 ltrs is 10 miles per litre, I. E. 45.45mpg, still good though.

  24. I think ikea sell a wireless charging back for about £10.
