  1. My 50k service at Lexus Cardiff only cost me £150, dont no how much the 40k one costs though.
  2. The glass will smash easy enough inside or out, its just that it stays held together by the film rather than smashing into a million pieces. It would take a little bit more messing around to get the glass out, enough maybe to deter a thief but in the case of accident in my opinion i would say it is safer. If someone has to smash the window say from the outside to take out a child in the back seat, it would stop the glass shattering all over the child. In reverse, i dont think an adult would have a problem kicking out the entire glass if need be in an emergency.
  3. I have got to start reading the whole post and not just the initial question. Sorry Glynn i see you already no this :duh:
  4. In answer to GlynnB question. This fooled me for a w hile, if you click on my assistant you then get the option of reading any unread posts. Hope this helps.
  5. If silver is the biggest selling car then that would also make it the most common. Stick with your original choises of blue or black mate. Dont want to start an argument but from most previous posts of potential IS200 buyers black is nearly always the desired colour. dark colours may be a bugger to clean but they dont half look good when they are.
  6. Did prefer old colours as it distinquished between the gold members site which has always been blue. Other wise its all good.
  7. Just had my bonnet, wings and new bumper fitted and sprayed by my local bodyshop, superb job and as far as i can see perfect match.
  8. Thats the one i got and thats exactly how i fitted it. Cheers mate.
  9. Bloody hell those guys are having a laugh when ifirst read your post i thought it was £1335 all in didnt realise you would be adding close to another £250 quid in VAT. Mate that price is seriously messed up.
  10. That price does seem a bit high. Just to give you some idea mate i was shopping around to have my bonnet taken back to metal and resprayed, my wings resprayed, my wing mirrors repaired and resprayed and a full Lexus styling kit including front bumper, side skirts, rear valance and roof spoiler to be sprayed and fitted. This seems like a lot more work than what you want done. My very highest price was £1200 which was from a very classy and proffesionaly set up bodyshop just next to Lexus Cardiff who actually do work for Lexus including fitting bodykits. The one i chose was £700 again in a well secured compound with CCTV and 3 ovens. I chose this one, not because they were one of the cheapest even though this helped but because they told me what i wanted to hear and a lot of nice cars were being worked on in there bodyshop so i figured they must no there stuff. 1 week later pick it up, there it was stood in the garage doorway two guys giving it a full valet and polish and it looked absolutely fantastic. Cant praise them enough, unfortunately though mate a bit far for you to travel. Seriously though i went to probably around 8 to 10 garages with prices ranging from £500 to £1200, shop around and go with your gut instinct mate. I no for a fact that if i would have went with the £1200 garage they could not have done a better job and i would have been an extra £500 out of pocket and they wanted the car for 2 weeks.
  11. Nice one Col, light out. The manual forgot to mention the most obvious, just quoted get it down to your dealers quick to be investigated. Scorp mate it is the O/S rear, whats that all about then. Still a bit concerned because when i left the garage the rear light was out on the same O/S this illuminated a different symbol on the cluster. I would assume it is a dual filament bulb which does both light and brake, the garage replaced the bulb before i left but now i am wondering why it appears to be blowing regulary.
  12. Doesnt say so in the manual, but i am of to the garage now to check. Hope your right Col, i will let you no in 5 minutes.
  13. Allright guys, For those who keep an eye on the forums like myself, you will no that i have just picked up my IS200 from the bodyshop after having a genuine Lexus styling kit fitted, this was not done by a main dealer but i am more than happy with the work. When i left the garage yesterday all lights and cluster display were working fine, it was driven about 0.5 miles to my home. I have only just today had a chance to take it for a good drive when i noticed after about 5 miles the handbrake light came on and is now on constantly. I have checked the manual and it states the light shows if the handbrake is up, if the brake fluid is low or if one or more of the brakes is low. I appreciate this could just be coincidence but my bet is on somewhere during the bodywork mods a sensor or wire has not been replaced correctly as the brakes appear to be working fine. I no a lot of you guys have modded your bumpers among other things and was wondering if any of you could give me some pointers as to possible loose connections etc and how to locate, check and if nesassary repair. Cheers fellas, after forking out for the bodywork the last thing i need is a visit to my local Lexus dealership.
  14. As Scorpion stated in his first post.
  15. Thanks for all your help guys, i have just gone out to my garage and fitted the spoiler. After looking at dobedos pics even though it is a different spoiler i have decided to place my spoiler on the roof as close to the rear window as possiple this in turn then sends the spoiler about 3inches over the back window giving a very nice lip effect. My garage photos will be updated as soon as we have a nice day. Thanks again fellas.
  16. Couldnt tell you mate, all i no is i bought it of scottaltezza. i beleive if memory serves me right it is like Bestys if thats any help.
  17. No pics as yet mate, i have tried o dry fit on all three positions and to be honest it does not sit perfectly on any.
  18. Allright fellas, Just pick up my car from the bodyshop after having the bonnet, wings, wing mirrors resprayed and having a bodykit fiited. Well happy, they have done an excellent job and at a really good price. The only thing the fitter hasnt done is fitted the rear roof lip spoiler which i purchased from scottaltezza because he wasnt 100% sure on its position. Can anyone with one let me no if it sits on the top of the glass. On the rubber seal around the top of the glass so it is level with the roof but doesnt look like it would have much to stick to, or on the roof its self which i am pretty sure it doesnt. Any advise or pics will be appreciated, Cheers guys.
  19. I am preety sure this is the rod millen kit
  20. Had mine on over 12 months mate and had no problems, just hammerite no laquer.
  21. Scarface my friend. My post states a friend will be driving in front of me, in a different vehicle not sat in the boot, i cant see much advantage to that.
  22. Cheers guys, based on your replies and as i will only be travelling 0.5 miles, i think i will take the chance. I intend having a friend driving in front of me anyway. Can anyone now give me any tips on removal or will it be obvious when i attempt it this weekend.
  23. I am taking my IS into the local bodyshop next Monday it is less than half a mile away. If i remove the front bumper and then drive the car to the garage obviously with the number plate placed somewhere visable and friend driving in front, would this be illegal. I want to take the bumper off before hand for a couple of reasons, 1 being i have someone who wants it ASAP and secondly even though i have no reason to suspect the garage it will be in for a week and i will sleep easier knowing no one is driving it around in the night as i have known this to happen. The bumper will be being replaced with a genuine front styling kit bumper to which i will re-attach the no. plate on collection. If this is OK can anyone give me any pointers on how to remove the bumper. Thanks fellas.
  24. Scorp mate, fact, automatic car washes ruin your car, Yours does looks stunning buddy. If you use a car wash regulary you have either been very lucky or spend more time using something like scratch X than you would actually washing the car. I have a black IS and the owner before me must have had shares in his local car wash. It has taken me nearly two years of TLC to get rid of the swirls caused. Not forgeting the damage they cause to wing mirrors, aerials etc.
  25. Same think happened to me mate. If its the same black mark around the majority of the rim that was left on mine and you can prove the wheels are 2 months old. I would say you have a fair case. The mark is easily reconizeable as being caused by the tyre changing machine and not a kerb mark. It really is bad workmanship and can be avoided if done correctly. Probably the garage gimp did them.
