  1. Thanks Linas. Re-reading my post, I perhaps should clarify that they only don't cover the bits in the brackets. Although not covering a cylinder head for cracking or going porous basically means they don't cover cylinder heads. They keep saying that they don't use blanket statements when talking about which parts are covered, but then they mention a lot of specific exclusions. It just strikes me that their coverage isn't very complete. I know some people have had problems with the Lexus warranty here, but in a lot of case the work is authorised with no fuss or hassle. I just get the feeling that that wouldn't be the case with this warranty. Also, considering the cost of Lexus parts, in my case, I would have to cover 50% of the bill, which wouldn't make it very good value for money.
  2. Is that including the extra for air conditioning and ABS cover? I agree it is cheaper cover, but for anyone who would like to maintain a full Lexus service history, I don't think a £100 saving a year is worth it. Also, considering the items not covered by the Click warranty, it wouldn't take much for you to recoup that £100. Also, how much is the RAC cover costing you? You need to factor that into your calculations considering it is included in the Lexus Warranty price.
  3. Well, that is no good. Although, like you say, they are common faults, so if you do get them fixed, at least you know they won't be an issue for the time being. It is strange that the MOT didn't flag them up. Corroded brake pipes might be a matter of opinion, but a leaking exhaust and dampers should be obvious. Have you talked to the dealer about getting these things fixed? Apart from the tyres, the rest should have been in good working order before he sold the car.
  4. In my opinion, The Click4warranty policy is not worth it. For starters, the Lexus policy gives you top level AA cover, whereas the Click one says it will cover up to £100 towards the cost of recovery, with no mention of anything else i.e. home start. They also provide only £30 towards the cost of a hire car while you car is being repaired, while the dealer gave me a new CT free while mine was being fixed. Also, you must consider the following: "Unfortunately, the catalityc converter is not a listed component under the terms of our warranty cover and therefore any claim relating to this part will not be authorised. " (Their spelling mistake). They also don't cover the following: exhaust valves [not burnt valves] cylinder head [not cracks and de-coking or porous heads] timing gears and chains [excluding tensioner] Coil springs, Hydrolastic displacers and hydropneumatic spheres, upper and lower wishbones, ball and swivel joints. (No mention of dampers or anti roll bar bushes, so not covered) map sensor [except injectors and heater plugs] Additional premium required for cover of Air Conditioning and ABS brakes You also have to contribute towards the repair cost depending on the mileage of the car: We calculate the betterment percentage depending on the mileage of your vehicle. - Up to 60,000 miles - zero - Up to 70,000 miles - 10% - Up to 80,000 miles - 20% - Up to 90,000 miles - 30% - Up to 100,000 miles - 40% - Over 100,000 miles - 50% Also, I am assuming the quote you mentioned if for the top claim limit of £7000? However, they then mention: "The maximum amount we will pay in total during the term of the policy is set at the Glass's Guide retail value of your car at the time of claim." Which I take to mean that if your car is worth £7000, then they will only pay a total of £7000 for ALL claims made during the year (or 2 years) the policy runs for. Is this worth the money you would save over the Lexus Extended Warranty?
  5. Interesting. The kit is quite expensive, so hopefully it is good. I am looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
  6. Well, I am sure other members on here will make what they will of what you say. As for me, I am going to take my own advice, relax, and let it go.
  7. I suppose TPMS can be a pain in the arse. Although it would have saved me from needing a new tyre after I didn't realise it was low on air whilst driving on it. As for the sat nav, I didn't comment since I am not sure the system in the GS is the same as my IS. On mine, the update from 2008 to 2016 changed the firmware, which in turn allows the sat nav to be adjusted on the move. Perhaps it is the same on yours? I got my discs from Ebay for about £75 for the Western Europe one only.
  8. Welcome £180? Are you sure? Jemca Lexus Edgware Road quoted me £86 to investigate any problems. That should cover basic diagnostics, with additional cost if they need to look into it any more. Although, the inexpensive option would be to get yourself a fault code reader and see what the code is yourself. Should give you an idea of what is going on. As long as it is OBD2 compliant, it should work.
  9. Nice one! I wish I had a TPMS on mine considering the woes I have had with tyres.
  10. It is tricky cause coolant being burnt is usually white smoke. Although the colour of the smoke has confused matters on this forum before, so perhaps we shouldn't discount anything at the moment. Having said that, if the coolant level is ok, then that seems to suggest it isn't burning that. If the oil and coolant levels stay the same, then it can only be burning excess fuel logically. Marcus, what I would suggest is taking it on the motorway and running it at 2000-2200 rpm for at least 15 minutes. Preferably nearer to 30 minutes. Then see what the smoke situation is like. That run should give the DPF time to get really hot and burn off some carbon. Alternatively, if the smoke is coming out regularly, you can disconnect the 5th injector to see if the smoke disappears. It is located here: Although I am assuming you can get your hand back there to disconnect it in the first place...
  11. *sigh* Ok, so apparently this is important since you used a bold font. Shall we take this point by point? John didn't try to convince you, just stated his own opinion on the matter. Also, you may have noticed that he has made no comment on your evidence now that you have produced it. Slightly? I thought I made myself pretty clear. Not true. I don't recall having any direct discussions with John before, but if I thought he was wrong, I would say so just the same. Who said you couldn't have any opinion? My concern was with the specific part I quoted, which I thought was argumentative and unnecessary. So, having said all that, my question is what you hope to achieve by continuing this? I don't mean your original question, just the manner of your responses since. 3 different people on this thread have told you it is not worth getting into a fuss about, so perhaps that should tell you what the people on this forum are like? Maybe we can put this to one side now and carry on discussing what is important to you in this thread?

Nice looking car you got there. Sounds really good too. Some interesting cars come through your garage. Do you photograph every car that comes in?
  13. This is getting a little confusing. Are we talking about the boot lock not working properly, or what looks like damage on the passenger side?
  14. Welcome Marcus, Blue smoke does suggest it is burning oil, but if it was head gasket, I would have thought it would be doing it all the time. If your oil level is ok, then that makes it even less likely. If you want to be sure, get a sniff and compression test done. As for what it could be, @ahmedali44 might be correct in that the 5th injector could be at fault. To diagnose that though, you would either have to disconnect it or find someone with the TechStream software to check it. With the software, you can also check to see if it going into regen mode to clear the DPF. Let us know what happens.
  15. Mark, are you trying to start an argument? The reason I ask is that John has said nothing that warrants this kind of response. Saying it's not worth arguing about is not 'taking the moral high ground', it is just good sense. I have had several debated in my time here (a couple of them quite lengthy!), and I have generally found the people on here laid back and respectful. So, let me add to what John has said and say relax, it doesn't matter.
  16. Good to hear your car is working well. Not so good with the distinctly unhelpful reply from The Warranty Group. I assume you want done with this issue and have left it at that with the warranty people then?
  17. Good luck! Yeah, I like to get it in a little early as well in case there are any issues that need resolving for it to pass. Let us know how you get on.
  18. No, it is a vaccine that apparently stops Shingles coming back. Not being a sufferer myself, I can only go on what I have found on the Internet. Although, I did note that it is only available on the NHS if you are over 70 years old, so it is probably the £600 one you mentioned.
  19. Strange, seeing as Black is the best colour...
  20. @Big Rat are you really laid up with Shingles? If so, that explains your post count.
  21. Yep, people seem to be unaware that doing short journeys is asking for trouble with a diesel car, especially in places like London. The V6 in the IS250 does seem to be fairly bombproof, and by all accounts is a very nice engine.
  22. Yep, I still have mine, and you do hear about a lot of issues. Although, to be fair, it is generally the same issues with new members asking the same questions over again. Generally, a lot of problems can be traced back to EGR and DPF faults. I am happy with mine so far, but I think unless your specific circumstances warrant it, the IS250 is a better bet. Having said that, perhaps my title should be changed from 'Established Member' to 'Defender of Lexus Diesels' considering my post history.
