@@Big Rat cheers, I’ll confirm my timings for the Saturday and will keep you posted.
-
@Big RatNope, as with my last one I’m going for a private purchase from a fellow forum member (whom I contacted outside the forum before a mod gets worried). Much like my last one it’s a prefacelift car in Velvet Black.

I’m off to Gloucester next Saturday to hopefully pick up an ISF... so close but a day early!

My RR-Racing Supercharger Build
GibletPH replied to Peter P18's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Sounds like an absolute hoot, should be even more fun with a LSD and wider wheels and tyres. Hopefully I’ll see it at a meet or two once I’ve bought my next ISF. -
My RR-Racing Supercharger Build
GibletPH replied to Peter P18's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Just read this thread fully, catching up on posts since I sold my ISF last year. Looks like a cracking build with a decent bump in performance. What is it like to drive in the semi decent weather which we seem to be having at the moment? Would love to see some performance figures compared to a stock ISF. -
Insurance for the F
GibletPH replied to tomRCFcarbon's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I’ve used Sky Insurance for a number of years for performance cars including my ISF a few years ago. Rang them today for a quote on the ISF I am interested in buying and was quoted just over £1k. In comparison I was paying around £800 to insure a Alfa Romeo 4C Spider with a value of over 5 times of the ISF. Bonkers -
Possibly Returning To The Fold...
GibletPH replied to GibletPH's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I was looking at low mileage E46 M3s with a few pricey mods like the £1500-£2000 CSL style airbox. -
Rcf as hard to tune as the isf?
GibletPH replied to Stuno1's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
This is pretty much limited to the C63, the E9X M3 is another rival that doesn’t see much gains from a remap. I think the standard route of exhaust, headers, intake and a remap will see a bit more power but it’ll cost a few grand for an extra 40-50hp which isn’t great. -

It was detuned from factory which is why the gains are so high from a remap on the M156 engine. -
Possibly Returning To The Fold...
GibletPH replied to GibletPH's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
My budget is a little lower this time after ****** away a lot of cash on the last few cars so the RCF is sadly too rich for my blood. I’ll give it some further thought and maybe view a cars soon before deciding on what route to take. Having spent a lot of time on the M3 forum (cutters) I’ve seen that there is a lot to go wrong on the E46 M3 in comparison with the ISF. That should make it a no brainer but as always I can’t decide! -
Greeting folks. I’ve not visited the F section for quite a while! I used to own a 2008 ISF a few years back, it was purchased from a fellow forum member and I foolishly sold it on (to Evans Halshaw who sold it to a current forum member) and replaced it with a heavily modified Evo X. The X was fun but I replaced it a year later with a Alfa 4C spider and 6 months later I replaced that with the strangest car of all, a Renault Zoe! I am 5 months into Zoe ownership and it’s time to get back into a quick car again. This leads me to my current dilemma. The plan was to get a E46 M3 next as a daily driver with a view to modify it a bit for fast road and occasional track use. However during my time scouring AutoTrader, Pistonheads, eBay etc I spotted a few ISFs for sale for a similar price to the M3s. Now I’m probably asking this in the wrong forum given that the answers will be highly biased but which one do I go for? The M3 is on my list of cars to own but the ISF is somewhat more practical. I regret selling my last one but will one be any good on track given the weight difference?

Tyre Size - LS400
GibletPH replied to GibletPH's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
I was asking about size as I know there were uprated sizes available for previous cars I owned including my old ISF. Turns out I need M+S rated tyres for the day and a bit that we spend in Austria next week. Looks like I’ll have to call my tyre guy tomorrow. -
Snap! Mine went in for a service and a inspection before the roadtrip and it also needs new handbrake cables. Like you say once done they should be fine for a good few years.

I viewed one a few miles from me. Test drive didn’t go to plan, owner took us for a spin and was pulled over just as we returned by an unmarked BMW X5. He was driving without insurance. Car was seized and is likely to be disposed of as he can’t afford to have it released. My brother stumbled across an advert on Facebook for another. We exchanged a few messages and then I drove up with a friend to view the car. A deal was done and my friend drove the car home. I chop and change cars regularly. The ISF was replaced with a heavily modified Evo X which was then replaced with a Alfa 4C spider. That was recently replaced with a Renault Zoe! The LS400 was purchased for an upcoming roadtrip. Just a short drive from Leeds to Lahore...

No camera crew with the unmarked car sadly, would have made for good TV. Seller is definitely up the creek without a paddle so to speak. The recovery costs are £150 plus £30 storage per day. He has 12 days left to get valid insurance, pay for road tax and get the car released after paying the costs listed above. Legally he has to inform the insurance company of his pending 6 points too, which will make the premium skyrocket. I’m waiting to confirm if WYP will allow me to purchase the car from the seller whilst it’s still in storage and then get it released in my name with my own insurance policy etc assuming he sees sense and agrees to a more reasonable price. I’ve been given conflicting answers by them so far.

Yup. He’s said he plans to get it back in under a week but he’s still looking at recovery and storage costs in the region of £300, plus whatever his fine ends up being on top of the 6 points. I made him what I deem to be a sensible offer (a lot higher than others have suggested on here) and he refused. I’m off on my trip at the end of March. Will start a thread on it once I’ve got a car.
