  1. Bunch of nonsense in their website - The gearbox ECU on IS250 is self-learning, if you want remap then just disconnect the battery for 15 min and let it reset. Then drive the way you want and it will set the gearbox accordingly. I have driven mine like stolen for few days and then realised gear changes became very sharp and unsubtle, then had few nice weekend drives just cruising around - got back to buttery smooth. As for the engine - again nonsense. Where they getting that "extra peak power and torque"? It is atmospheric engine, more air and more fuel can make more power, where does extra air comes from? Throttle response I can understand - there is little button in IS250 which says "sport/snow" - it does exactly the same thing - sharpens throttle response. In other hand it is not like throttle response is "laggy" in IS250 - that is the strength of NA v6. And just to prove it is non-sense here is comparison between IS250 and Aston Martin Rapide text In short they just have generic text with "insert" vehicle info of all vehicles 😄
  2. There is something strange with Lexus Gatwick, they pictures are always pixelated and unbelievably low quality + it seems like quality is artificially reduced (i.e. not taken on Nokia phone from 2004, but reduced in size after). Maybe they have employed some weirdo intern for pictures?! My Lexus dear is attacking me at least twice a week with offer to buy IS300h which apparently defines "sporty and dynamic driving"... but when it comes to prices it seems you only get good offer on GS. I have tried to negotiate the price with Lexus Sheffield and both times they dropped the price by over £3000 without much issue, both times somebody snapped the cars in few days so I could not get any further.
  3. Or just spares 🙂 Interestingly I am monitoring RC-F prices as well. RC-F seems to be picking up the pace with trade-ins after summer, but prices not as good as they were early this year or even early last year. in 2017 one could get nearly new (under 10k miles) RC-F for £32k, early this year we had prices hitting £28k, but on much higher miles cars. Now it seems even higher miles cars are still in range of £33k. Hoping for them to drop significantly by the end of the year.
  4. Had 2018 BMW 3-series as loaner for couple of weeks and same story, even disregarding diesel engine Lexus is still nicer place to be. Strangely, my experiences is the same when going up to new Lexus with one-size-fits all 300h engine. Now it is not to say IS300h is not great car, but value for money proposition is very poor when comparing 10 years old IS250 for £5k and 2 years old IS300h for 20k... that 15k literally gives you nothing extra. Ok you get slightly higher MPG, but you loosing double that on depreciation, probably the only real improvement is phone integration, bt audio (for those who care).. but loosing sound and smoothness under acceleration, overall not much more. So if IS250 is 90% there for full package, IS300h for 4 times the price is more like just 75% as good. I am starting to hate my IS250... it is very hard car to replace!!
  5. they had something similar on 7 series, but generally I agree this particular details is quite original to Lexus for L-finesse design and using L-shaped headlights for a while. Probably earliest example would of what resembles some sort of L-shape be E34: Though it is quite distant from what we are talking here. + I would add, not only lights many curves on the rear looks spectacularly similar to RC on new 3 series...
  6. maybe Dartford next? Clearly Severn bridges were much more massive and expensive then Dartford https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/oct/02/toll-severn-bridges-scrapped-17-december
  7. I looked at new BMW and it seems I have seems I have seen that somewhere before 😄 Wonder what 4-series will look like?!
  8. One thing is concept model for the roads, quite different mass produced and accepted product. The technology itself is not that sophisticated - I can get components and fit it myself for probably $200-250 (and I am talking high-end components here). The question to answer - does this $250 giver me any advantage over simply using mirrors and clear answer is NO... no advantage - I would even probably need to keep mirrors. The way e-tron does it on door cards is much nicer looking then standard rectangular screens previously seen, but from practicality perspective it is no different... still useless.
  9. NX is in same segment i.e. european mid-size suv... which get very confusing as in US Q7 is "mid-size suv". So yeah - NX really competes with F-Pace, RX is larger and more expensive, sadly there again is no proper version of NX e.g. NX450h would be great car...
  10. NX would be more comparable to F-Pace, readily available and thus like-for-like chaper.
  11. I have no doubts... but I still see it as new 6-Series with 2 added on top for sake of adding it... Not actually flagship car..
  12. Yes agree... doesn't really look right. On other hand I would argue that IS-F 10-spoke suits GS mk3/mk4 and GS-F wheels suites IS-F/ RC-F.. RCs etc.
  13. Yes on one side if you buying F-Parts they hyper-expensive and rare to find, yet if you selling the market is so small, it is very unlikely you going to sell much at all e.g. if they would part this RC-F.. they can probably sell wheels... that is pretty much it. Engine is valuable but nobody needs it, interior is ruined - front seats are ripped, rear seats are not that valuable anyway... bodywork - that is pretty much going to stay forever until somebody else going to crash RC-F, yet one would need to hope from another angle.... Rest of RC-F is so reliable that it is very unlikely anyone would need spares at any time soon and even the spares one would need, they won't buy used e.g. brake pads, brake disks or other suspension components. Simply, there are no healthy market for such rare car/parts.
  14. They would "fit"... GS-F has same sizes as RC-F and wheels would generally fit GS, but they are wider (both rims and tyres).
  15. Just quickly estimated based on what can be seen in pictures... ~11000 for parts ant painting, not counting assembly, assuming no mechanical or electrical damage, assuming wheels and tyres are fine, assuming used headlights.... I mean you get the picture - quite a few assumptions... I would add ~ couple of thousands on top just to be safe ~ £13500 to repair (which somebody already pointed out - "add another 13k for repairs")..
  16. Just scouting for the parts for damaged black RC-F.. and found few interesting bits on US forum This guys is selling 3 wheels, with one being dented 2 Fronts 1 Rear: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexus-RC-F-Oem-Rims/113193311568?hash=item1a5ad8dd50:g:G1YAAOSwZjNbbOSh&vxp=mtr And this guy selling just 1 Rear 😄 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexus-RC-F-2015-2017-19-Factory-OEM-Rear-Wheel-Rim-4261124770-74323/323372749661?epid=504799307&hash=item4b4a84935d:g:o-QAAOSwNmVaZQ1j&vxp=mtr As well for @tomRCFcarbon - you don't need to spend £20 for piece of broken grille: Here is whole one without number plate cut-out for you.. (pricey thought): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexus-RC-F-2015-2016-2017-Front-Grille-Grill-COMPLETE-OEM/263929746815?hash=item3d7370557f:g:ST0AAOSwtnVbl0nX&vxp=mtr almost as much as whole Japanese bumper: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Oem-Lexus-RC-F-Sport-Fsport-Front-Bumper-Cover-With-Pre-Crash-Grill-Emblem/162784668224?hash=item25e6b8ea40:g:DsgAAOSwLdBaGUmO&vxp=mtr
  17. Thought RC-F doesn't really have structural damage - nothing for him to do there. As for the Arthur Tussik he only does what the customers are paying for and in Russia or whatever that is acceptable level of repairs. I ma sure he would be able to fix cars better and if you ask his opinions he would outright say some cars are irreparable, but the order he gets - "fix this piece of metal back into the car for 3000 roubles" - to that is what he does.
  18. Sunroof is only needed when you buy car for Sunday ride, for track it makes no sense - heavy sunroof high-up does no favours for low centre of mass.
  19. I think it is more complex then that - if we would elect "representatives", then should actually represent us... they should be just a messengers which can be sacked at any time, but that is certainly not the case. My problem is more about them lying or promising something to be elected and then just abandoning it - there should be some responsibility. Lied, promised and not delivered broken the "code of conduct" and you are sacked, next representative elected. The whole "representative democracy" thing is concept from the past when it was technologically impossible to implement direct democracy - nowadays we have all technology and to be honest we no longer need representatives... The only group of the people who needs representatives are they themselves and some elites for whom it is easier to manipulate and bribe one or few representatives rather then whole nation. One motoring related example would be that 62% of trips and 78% of distance in UK are covered by cars, as such if we would have representative democracy our government would subsidise road infrastructure - because majority of the population prefers it. What happening is opposite - goverment makes it harder to drive every year, increases related taxes, duties and the roads are neglected. This indicates government makes decisions independently and against will of the people they represent - so whole "representative democracy" is just a fantasy. I think it is unfair to even make toll road considering how much more motorists raises in taxes, but generally I don't mind the idea of localised tolls in remote areas where improvement literally transforms the lives for better locally, but not really makes much more sense nationally. This is more applicable to small remote locations where the cost of improvement would far outright economic importance of the place. Dartford in not such "remote place" it is pretty much key road linking entire UK to EU imports and exports... so there is rationale to have it even if nobody would live 10 miles around it. Finally, how is dartfort crossing is different from any other stretch of the road? and why does it need any additional funding? As I said goverment doesn't spend £32bn raised from motorists... As for you example re: London trains.. that isn't actually true. The nation is not funding the rail infrastructure, those "affluent" commuters pays more tax, hence they get more service. I believe London raised like 30% of all taxes nationally, so it would be fair to spend 30% of taxes in London, but that isn't the case. Londoners are already subsidising the rest of UK, not other way around. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/may/23/uk-budget-deficit-grows-to-more-than-10bn-as-people-spend-less https://www.theguardian.com/money/2016/jul/07/london-top-taxpaying-city-uk-report Now should that be the case .... I don't know... I think it woudl be better to decentralise the economy from London which would improve the life quality both in London and outside. But what is for sure nobody subsidises London infrastructure...
  20. OR.... just get my self a V8 convert pack for the day when I get dreadful RC300h/200t :DDDD
  21. Honestly, I would seriously think about it if I would have a place to keep 2 cars...
  22. But that would be great platform for track car conversion, where you don't really need to re-fit all the airbags etc... Properly repairing it I guess it is non-starter... and I don't even think exterior is the biggest problem - imagine all the mess with replacing all the airbags etc.
  23. That exactly - considering current prices you will have ~£15k which isn't much. Headlight are like £3k alone, I guess the only option would be to get aftermarket carbon parts (it is not like you would found RC-F part in scrappie) which goes ~£1000/part, so 2 fenders, bumper and bonnet ~£4k... It is doable, but I would say maybe better for track convert or something like that, not for the road hauling second half or kids. Sadly it is not RC-F Carbon -would be great opportunity to properly strip it for track use 😄
