  1. Rolled trough the pictures and hoped for one without the skirt (dirty me)... what a disappointment... And what about thous wheels - have the lady punctured all the tyres at once and runs 4 spares?
  2. I like standard UK spec. wheels, but I would prefer US ones over them... not because I like them more, I guess just because we didn't have them in UK so they seems to be more valuable, more unique. Never liked "mess'h" ones...
  3. To begin with... the packs makes no sense knowing how Lexus specifies cars in UK - are you sure these are not US specs converted into £ (As well car prices?)? e.g. Adaptive LED, BSM and RCTA are standard across the range in LSS+ in UK (on all cars except of CT). So either ES has lower standard equipment, which would go against Lexus promise (focusing on safety with LSS+) or these specs are US specs. Secondly, whole takumi thing doesn't make sense, currently you get ML + sunroof in Premier pack on IS/RC... meaning again that ES seems to be lower spec'ed to start. And what the hell is "Smooth leather"? Does it mean standard car will have cardboard leather upholstery like BMW and MB? @LexusIS300h - nice comparison - "Performance is far superior to the Prius I had so I have no delusions about it being under powered. It isn’t.". So if car is more powerful then Prius.. that is pretty much end-off... that is it .. Prius is the golden standard of performance or what?! Are you saying any car more powerful then Prius is basically "powerful enough"😄
  4. That is clearly the purpose in the movies, but I though we have MOT to prevent exactly that from happening on the road 🙂 It says it has MOT... I really cannot see how this car can pass... not because of taste or rather lack-off... but lets say metal side window with completely 0 view on left mirror... sticking sharp objects another major.. I guess you take half of decorations off before MOT and then put them back after? It cannot pass otherwise..
  5. Low mileage, one owner, cared for - pristine example, first to see will buy! I kind of understand it as a show car or prop for a movie, but surely that should be illegal on the road... I am not even talking about pedestrian safety... in other hand some pedestrians are not much different from the zombies in the movies, so... maybe they deserve it?!..
  6. That is true for demos, especially if you want extended one - as such I never got to try one on the road, because even if they have one RC- F on sale it is not "demo ready" as it is uninsured and they can pretty much only allow you to do circle around the block with trade plates... Buying cars as special as F that doesn't help. And true about specs. People will always try to get their way the cheapest way possible and German cars are awfully spec'ed as you say, I have tried two BMWs M3 E92 and E93, neither of which had electrically folding mirrors... for example. Tiny thing, but one would simply never guess they will need to "man-up" and fold the mirrors with the hand on £60k car from 2010. And million other tiny things, which are just standard on Lexus. When you look as used cars it seems straight away that M3's as much cheaper and there is massive choice compared with say IS-F, but after looking closely first 30 M3's are pretty much poverty line or in poor condition, when you actually get to the nice one they are not cheaper and most of the time more expensive then Lexus, but again people will buy their way in the cheapest way possible... If that way for owning HP car is basic M3 in questionable condition, most likely it will be it for £12k.
  7. Well.. then I guess I am looking for higher then average miles car... Being Lexus I don't see that being a problem as long as it has service history and is not cat-C. Completely agree that all the price guessing is complete magic and it is complete guess. I think it is as well quite a bit of personal circumstances thing - buyer very keen to buy will buy higher, seller very keen to sells sell lower... I am not rushing to buy at all, so I can wait for somebody in need to sell. As we seen with example of nice Grey Carbon - seller was not rushing to sell either, so was confident with high price. As for IS-F prices firming-up, obviously that is combination of things... just to name the few - older, higher miles HP cars tends to be unreliable - not IS-F, that is obvious benefit. Secondly, IS-F is hell of a lot of car car for the money... and for them being so rare demand actually meets or now even exceeds the supply. Not because of people really liking IS-F or need as much power, but for share value of what you get. I can see some dodgy car maybe coming in at ~£8k, but that would be rather exception not a trend.. and overall, I don't see IS-F in drivable state ever dropping below ~£8k... In short.. that is it - they are at the bottom of their value give or take few pounds - obviously they will be firming-up. That is certainly the case for 2008 ~100k miles cars, not the case for later cars with lower miles, which in comparison with cheaper early IS-F's looks identical on paper and are now under big pressure to discount.
  8. Such people are rarer then unicorns as far as I know... which just reinforces the point of why they sell in low numbers. I am pointing to general public with my post... Other thing - those who care, understand and research are usually already in ownership of HP car like 911, AMG, M or other - so for them it is more of the same, just more reliable.. not leap of faith at all. As well just to clarify - I don't think that leap of faith actually happens... rather opposite - it doesn't hence sells low numbers, but what I mean "one would need to do it, to get from entry level Lexus (say 300h) straight into F".
  9. Depends what you consider "good" examples... and they already seen prices as low as 27.5k (probably less for actual sale), I am pretty sure they hit 25k by mid next year... I do think they won't fall below 20k very soon (~5years). Something like £22-23k I think is possible by the end of next year. Call that wishful thinking if you like...
  10. Wrapping is the only option, unless you want to pay for custom order CF, which will cost astronomical amount. There no CF kits for UK IS as far as I know. There are quite a few for US version, but all cut-outs are opposite on those parts.
  11. I would say simply lack of progression via range. Entry level models are boring for young drivers, mid-range doesn't exist, and then straight to F... Lexus lacks cheap and cheerful entry level car into the brand, then they lack reasonably fast mid-range cars for performance oriented buyers and F-Sport pretty much just sits there.... almost no connection to the rest of UK's line-up. I would imagine somebody having IS300 as a first car, would happily trade into IS350 mk2 (if performance is their thing), then RC350 and the RC-F or straight into IS-F after IS350. There are no progression to build brand loyalty and keep the customers at bay. Now what happens - IS250 mk2, which is now affordable car is mediocre performer and rather understate looking car, nobody going to really notice or appreciate it or certainly not have it on the list of their dream cars. Ok they are reliable, but that is about it... unless you have had extended drive and you know the car very well... ok maybe... and if you want more power then what? You leave the brand. Nobody makes jumps from £6-8k car straight into £40-60k car... steps are usually incremental with the age and experience. You could expect BMW 320 owner to get maybe BMW 335i for 8-10k, after that maybe 640i for £14-18k, then maybe M3 for £22k... not straight into new M4 for £60k... I know I am taking solely from my perspective, but getting into F... requires almost "leap of faith" or totally impulsive buy... which is a bit of big ask from the customer.
  12. I am not talking about new-for-new prices... I would pay ~£20-25k for ~2016 RC350 with fair bit of miles and right options. RC-F is not that far off, but still more like ~30-35k. So maybe in 1,5-2 years it will will get to my price range.
  13. Not really, I just know it is not going to happen, but I am not prepared (morally) to pay for RC-F - at current prices have no justification for it, whereas I would have for RC350. So in essence I am "subconsciously" waiting until I can get RC-F for RC350 money.
  14. Me? I never mess around.... 😄 I am being a little bit of devils advocate here, but completely honestly I think RC-F Metal is superior car to RC-F Carbon (from my subjective view). That doesn't mean Carbon is not great car and that I don't like it (except of certain elements - alcantara, no-sunroof), nor that I would not want one or not have one, but I would be expect to pay less for Carbon (gain to compensate for attributes I don't like)... obviously in reality is opposite.
  15. I am stand to be corrected, but standard car with TVD is 25kg heavier than Carbon with TVD... 25kg is a joke for 1765kg car. I think Lexus should decide - if they want hardcore lightened version.. I am fine with it, but putting all that carbon on car for pretty much cosmetic reasons and calling it a day is half wit approach.
  16. Carbon for me ... is to make the car lighter. It is not otherwise beautiful material and the purpose of it is to be light. I know that nowadays we associate it with high-end race cars, F1 and Aerospace, hence we sort of consider it "beautiful"... but otherwise it is no different from bench size wings on 90's ricers - back then they associated big wings.. with you guessed it - high-end race cars, F1 and Aerospace. If it makes the car lighter and that is sort of the car which benefits from every ounce of weight saving (down to the level of bare non-painted parts), then carbon-all the way! More of it if possible! If the carbon just for looks... then it could be done discreetly and with right taste it could improve the looks of the car e.g. I think the Japanese edition got it right with side skirts and lips, but not with bonnet.... especially not when car weight exactly the same as non-Carbon one. I really see no reason spending all that time making real carbon details and saving no weight - might as well just stick a carbon wrap on it.
  17. I know I am not allowed to post here I guess ( I am sure), but @Flytvr - you need to specify what modification is e.g. I don't see performance brake pads (e.g. yellow stuff) as mod, surely then non-stock tyres (what were they Brigetone Potenzas?) are much bigger modification, yet nobody considers that to be mod! My points - some changes doesn't make car modified, some other does - so what is in and what is out?
  18. made 3 passes around the car and didn't even show interior... Ok.. I see so in addition to UK spec.. it as well has Carbon side skirts, rear diffuser and front ~not really lip, but just corner covers.... In some way I agree - it more hardcore carbon of the carbons, in other hand why not to have carbon mirror covers as well? Maybe even low drag mirrors, something like that (just electrically adjustable): still prefer metal bonnet thought... The only reason to have carbon one is if the interior is stripped out, door cards carbon, no rear seats, front bucket seats and roll cage inside - 350kg less weight... and then I would appreciate carbon everything.
  19. What Japanese edition includes what UK spec. Doesn't have?
  20. You might as well just buy a boat... I will jump-in together for some RC350 power!
  21. Depends how you look at it 😄 It think it looks better then UK one... but for no objective reason.
  22. that is because of all dark matter surrounding that carbon bonnet! It is carbon indeed - I got confused with the video which showcases US Spec "carbon", which doesn't include the bonnet, whereas UK one included carbon bonnet as well. If I haven't clearly spelled out - yes I was wrong!
  23. Ok... I see - the one in the video is US spec. and US spec always had metal bonnet and carbon roof + spoiler. That means UK delivered ones are like previous UK delivered Carbons with carbon bonnets... Hence my previous comment: Sorry... my stupid mistake - I would have liked it more with matte paint over bonnet - I guess one can still paint/wrap it in matching colour 😄 Yep... sorry, ignore me Colin is correct.
