There are more - DPF/ERG issues.. even turbos, injectors/5th injector issue, DMF/Clutch issues. Generally, speaking if you do a lot of miles and all motorway - you should be OK. If you do a lot of miles and they all city, then do not touch modern diesel as then it certainly becomes the case of "when not if" (that is not only Lexus issues). I guess what compounds it for IS220d is that it was only available with rather strange 6 speed manual gearboxes, rather then indestructible autos and had head issues on top of normal diesel issues. The answer would be to get later model IS200d, which has de-tuned engine with 150hp instead of 177hp and upgraded head-gasket. Still not good for the city. As for IS250 fuel consumption, that is mostly an issue if you are in start stop traffic - on motorway IS250 have very reasonable consumption, not exactly match for IS220d, but as well no issues with ULEZ. Diesel now being on average 4p more expensive and going forward probably more can potentially offset any gain for you.

on standard IS250 and 17 inch, and Dunlop SportMaxx RT tyres I found that 35/38 pressures were too low and caused premature wear similar to that of under-inflated tires (wear on the outside). Therefore I was running something closer 38/38 or 38/40. However as you can see from my answer it is very specific to the tyres brand and size. As well I ten to believe IS250C has different weight balance then standard IS250. If you run some other tyres then RT or RT2's , or if you running it son say 18inch wheels my advice might not be applicable.

Standard radio unit doesn't have phone integration, sat nav unit doesn't have phone integration either. I might be wrong, but phone integration came around 2009 together with SE-i model and should be present in 2009 and later SE-L, Advance, F-Sport models with multi-media. Multimedia can be retrofitted at astronomical cost which will be above what the car is worth (specifically ~2008 IS220d), secondly Lexus sat-nav is so terrible that I don't understand why one would want to have it, never mind pay money for it. I have had updated version of sat-nav in my 2012 F-Sport - turned it on, confirmed it works - never touched it again. The cheapest smartphone on the market will run circles around it. I do understand however that it can be useful for hands free, but equally you can just get £20 hands free kit which will work just as well. In summary, if you really need sat-nav with phone integration - make sure you get 2009+ car with sat-nav already fitted, retrofitting it will not be economically viable. Second thing - I am sure you have done your research, but are you sure about IS220d? You know about all potential issues?

That is because all IS220d are manual and manual IS mk2 comes with "hand" brake...

Grey Carbon was listed for a while, at least a week or so now, but no pictures for some reason. As well it was listed as 33590 or 490 in the beginning, apparently appreciated by just over a £1500 in less than a week, at such rate it will reach 1 million by the end of year.

Yeah wheels on LC are not the most elegant I have ever seen, that applies to both 21" and 20" options - almost necessitates including price of nice set of wheels on top when you getting LC. That and if you don't fit winter tires or if your car is RWD (bloody killing machine)... anyway you go about it most of us Lexus owners are included in the "idiot list".

Sorry... I looks like a mess... Yellow exterior is questionable - let's say thing of personal taste, but interior ... I kind of like yellow inlays on the door cards on it's own, but with white seats it just has nothing in common, nor it contrasts well. I guess if you want to stand out of the crowd then goal will be achieved, but it is not visually pleasing and it would be simply cheaper to take of your trousers if attention is all you need 😄

Everyone to their own.. Just note - US IS-F might have have completely different upgrades and revisions then UK IS-Fs, so I suggest not to confuse the too. I would add that if you planning to run it on 18 wheels, then relative harshness of suspension will not be an issue for you.

From my experience it is better to spend £49 (or as low as £25) for routine maintenance every 2 years rather then replace A/C compressors for £700+ one day. That is called preventative maintenance - you don't wait until your engine blows before replacing oil are you?! As well I would agree that for first ~5 years ... probably don't bother - car is new, seals, compressor, piping etc. are new and relative leak rate is going to be low, but after that I would do it with increase frequency until eventually getting to industry recommended 2 years e.g. 5 years, then 3 years and then 2 years thereafter. If A/C needs to be re-gassed more often then once in 2 years I would start looking for problems in system. As well fridge doesn't get showered with 70MPH rocks, subjected to several Gs of shock, nor sits next to vibrating and extremely hot engine.

Not sure what importance does that make, does it make it acceptable then? Dealers probably don't take their job seriously enough... When I am going to advertise my car I am going to list it as ML and if anyone going to ask me why it is not ML when buying I will blame online database 😄 Just to add: in don't mind when they are selling some S***box, but RC-F is pretty niche market, it is pretty special, the price is pretty special.. I mean if you have bough say luxury watch you would know what attention to the detail they would have... you know white gloves etc. You would not expect them to list Omega Speedmaster - "Dark Side of the Moon" Apollo 8 as simply Omega Speedmaster "Dark Side of the Moon"... You would expect such basic error from some armature thief selling it on the corner of the block... maybe... and these watches are only £4-8k a pop.. Here we are talking about car which is up-to 10 times more expensive and they could not even bother to check what sound system it has. BTW that is even applicable to all Lexus cars, Lexus in car market is Omega of the watches so one would expect little bit of special treatment...

There is no such thing as 100% sealed system, or system which stays sealed indefinitely - that is especially true when we are talking about high pressure gases. There are just better or worse sealed systems and there are systems which literally leaks.

I believe there were few revisions of IS-F suspension, but you would need somebody from IS-F forum to confirm. Basically 2008-2009 cars had harsher ride, if I am correct 2010 suspension was slightly re-balanced and it is more compliant on rough roads and 2011 had cosmetic upgrades mostly. I personally, would get the cheapest available IS-F provided it has full service history and generally in good condition, would not bother with mileage.

I would go with 2 years service, there is no such thing as "leak free A/C system". Over time it still looses some coolant, but coolant is not what really matters for longevity of the system. Together with coolant you get lubricants and if you do not follow 2 years service intervals for A/C then you might loose lubricants in the coolant (or together with coolant) and it might prematurely wear out your system. It is good you keep your A/C always on, the biggest mistake people do are not using A/C for prolonged periods of time, which as you said dries the seals etc. I guess that and low mileage explains longevity of your A/C.

I think that is exactly what everyone else thought as well... (certainly me)... In fact I jumped to check the avert as I thought I might finally see RC-F without ML, but I got disappointed!

Don't forget to add £2000 for winter tyre set every other season... because otherwise - "what sort of person you are"?!

Are you saying - basically only an idiot can buy RC-F or any newish expensive car? The sad truth is that any new car will rapidly depreciate regardless of how you pay for it, so if you want one you have to live with that! It doesn't make any difference whenever you going to finance it or pay cash. Even more so you have to pay interest on your lease, so buying outright if you can afford it makes more sense... according to Warren Buffet!
