  1. Hi John, that's very interesting, never occurred to me to go for a lower cost brand but you're obviously very happy with those ones so I'll have a look. Thanks 🙂
  2. I’m now looking to buy 4 new tyres for my GS300 Series 3 (2007) 3.0L Petrol. I would welcome comments on the following. BlackCircles local depot is very convenient for me and I had my existing tyres fitted by them so the following information is from the BlackCircles website. Prices are Fitted inc VAT, Balancing and disposal of old tyres. My existing tyres are Goodyear Efficiency Grip Performance 225/50 R17 98W. The spec in the handbook is 94W but I can’t recall why I bought the 98W unless maybe there was a price deal on at the time. The following a rated below as follows “Fuel Efficiency’ ‘Wet performance’ ‘Noise dB’ All 225/50 R17 94W 1. Goodyear Efficiency Grip Performance 2 Summer Tyre Rated B A 70 £110.93 2. Goodyear Efficiency Grip Performance Summer Tyre Rated B A 68 £133.06 3. Michelin Primacy 4 Summer Tyre Rated C A 69 £127.34 4. Michelin CrossClimate 2 All Season Tyre Rated C B 71 £148.21 I’m tempted to go for No.1 and I can’t understand why No.2 is more expensive as the only advantage I can see is slightly lower noise level. No.3 is priced midway between No.1 and No.2 The most expensive option is the All-Season CrossClimate which I know is a very popular tyre but I tend not to drive when snow and ice is on the roads and I’ve never had all-season tyres previously. Also the ratings aren’t as good as No.1 Just interested in opinions and observations prior to making a final decision. Thanks.
  3. See my reply to NemesisUK above. Re battery age I think I replaced it about 5 years ago. Annual mileage for the last 5 years has been 3950, 4025, 4389, 4792, 7562 (7562 being the last 12 months) Lots of journeys of about 4 miles with occasional 200 mile trips. But the last year of 7562 miles has been lots of long distance trips.
  4. OK must be amps, silly me! Absolutely no problems at all with starting and no electrical issues that I've noticed. I do charge it twice a year with my CTEK MXS 5.0.
  5. My GS300 3.0L Petrol 2007 was serviced today by my local garage and they said the battery is reading 400 volts instead of 550 volts. In you opinion(s) does this mean I should replace it? Just been looking at the Yuasa HSB030 from Halfords at £110 + £18 fitting (I don't want to fit it myself) I can probably get a £10 voucher to use against the purchase by joining for free their motoring club. The same item sold elsewhere appears to be the Yuasa YBX5069. I presume Halfords have their own model number put on it for them by Yuasa. Comments welcome. Thanks.
  6. Apologies if this has already been discussed but couldn't find it. Although thefts of catalytic converters on the pre 2022 NX have apparently been very few, does anyone know if the new 2022 model has its cat(s) in a more inaccessible place(s). Just thinking it's a new design based on the current RAV4 but can't find anything conclusive on the RAV4 forums either.
  7. Which company do you use for Breakdown Cover? Just trying to find reliable cover at a fair price for my daughter and family. They have one car, not a Lexus, which is less than 12 months old. I've always had AA or RAC cover as I'm not keen on the third party involvement when using something like Green Flag but am interested in your views and experiences. (I have RAC cover as I can use Tesco Vouchers which are increased in value x3 through the Tesco Deals programme. Tesco points earned on purchases using my Tesco credit card which are exchanged for vouchers). Thanks.
  8. All of you guys, what is the mileage on each of your cars. Interested as I have a GS300 2007 on 83K miles.
  9. @First_Lexus Ed, once the ceramic coating has been applied, how long will it last before having to have it done again?
  10. Is the non-hybrid GS300 year 2007 petrol potentially affected re CAT thefts?
  11. As per my post of 15th December, I subsequently ordered the Ridex struts from Autodoc which arrived today. The fitting tutorials I've seen on Youtube are straightforward but I have a question. Before I fit them I tried to compress them to see that they work but I'm unable to do that, won't budge at all, is that normal? Will they only compress with the weight of the bonnet once fitted? Thanks.
  12. Thanks, I'll stick with the Rain-X brand as it's been mentioned a lot in previous posts over the years. My original question was really about whether to buy the 2in1 one cleaner and repellent or buy the pure repellent. I would expect that most will use the pure repellent but I'll wait to see if any more replies come through.
  13. Hi Mark, thanks for the quick reply, that's the 2in1 I mentioned but can now be bought for £4.99 instead of £9.99 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002G27G98/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1
  14. Do you guys use the Rain-X Rain/Water Repellent Glass Treatment 200ml £4.99 or Rain-X 2in1 Glass Cleaner + Rain Repellent 500ml £4.99?
  15. I've just fitted a phone cradle mount to my GS300 MKIII and I have it connected to the plug-in cigar lighter port so as to keep the phone charged. It's okay but I'd like a neater job, so could anyone on here give me step-by-step instructions/diagrams specific to my car on how to connect a permanent USB Port (preferably without dismantling/removing parts too much)? I've not done anything like this before so it might be better if I employ an auto electrician but thought I'd see what's involved DIY first. The port would be one of these or similar: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08SJ3745V/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A302DF5PZN13YK&psc=1 https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07NV6XT41/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AHM583H6ZD5FZ&psc=1 There is a dummy port hole just below knee height and above the foot pedal which I could possible use, photo attached.
  16. If you SELL something on eBay then eBay will pay you directly. However, if you BUY something on eBay you can still pay with PayPal and get the protection that PayPal offer.
  17. Does anyone know if the bonnet struts are identical for left and right fitting? The specification for these aftermarket struts quotes the original equipment part numbers 53450-0W071 and 53440-0W091 and my car has one of each number, one for the left side and for the right side. However the suppliers appear to be suggesting that two identical struts are in the packet. Are the 2 struts different, 1 for Left and 1 for Right? or are they both the same? If they are the same just wondering why the original Lexus ones have two different numbers on them? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-GS-2005-2012-Hood-Struts-Gas-Springs-Lifters-x2-SET-/141870196674?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c1&utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks&utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks https://www.autodoc.co.uk/ridex/12758596 The eBay ones are £27.64/pack of 2 including Vat and delivery. The Autodoc ones are £19.64/pack of 2 including VAT and delivery.
  18. Hi Chris - Are you still happy with your bonnet struts you bought off eBay? I just clicked onto the link and they are still available, current price £27.64 per pair from Latvia. I did get a quote yesterday from SGS for regassing my existing ones but the price is £32.18 so might as well buy new ones. Has anyone else bought new aftermarket ones who'd like to comment or makes suggestions? Thanks.
  19. I wonder if this has been improved on the new model for 2022 deliveries?
  20. I have one, great piece of kit, but I never disconnect the battery.
  21. Sorry my mistake. E10 is new one. I'm running mine on E5 Super Unleaded!
  22. Has anyone bought a mobile phone holder that attaches to the multi-curvy dashboard of a GS300 Gen 3? If so are you happy with it? I like the look of this one, not cheap but good reviews and various ways to attach. https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09C1KNXZF/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_6?smid=ACRQ3E0YLZJXJ&psc=1 There's also this one but it's not as neat. https://smile.amazon.co.uk/VANMASS-Upgraded-Gooseneck-Dashboard-Windscreen/dp/B08DJ9M1HB/ref=sr_1_25?keywords=car+phone+holder&qid=1638207326&sr=8-25
