  1. Thanks John. Although this car is exactly the spec I want (when I decide to change), this enquiry is on behalf of my daughter and son-in-law who live in London. I've checked the M.O.T. history and all looks good. They've just messaged me to say that they are test driving it on Sunday! Have you had a look for that thread that you and I contributed to about Lexus dealers good and bad? I can't find it. Just wondering what reputation Lexus Reading have.
  2. Also, is Lexus Reading a good dealer from which to buy? I've been looking for the thread where we discussed dealers but having found it yet.
  3. Could do with a quick response. What do you think of this specific NX at the condition, age, mileage and price? https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/Nx-Estate/300h-25-Premier-5dr-CVT-u3cdkte
  4. I think it looks horrible. Glad they've discontinued it.
  5. Smart looking car too. Looks in great nick. Love the colour/interior combination!
  6. Can anyone tell me why some NXs have an extra piece of leather on the top of the dashboard (drivers side)? It looks like an after-thought just stuck on but I know there will be a reason. It might only be on the Premier model of a certain age? See photo in link below. https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/Nx-Estate/300h-25-Premier-5dr-CVT-qxcentg
  7. What do NX owners think about the reviewers comment about the bleeping noise from the tailgate? Also, who has an NX in Mesa Red and who has one in Sonic Titanium? I like the idea of the Sonic Titanium (Silver) as silver cars don't seem to show the dirt until they get really really dirty. But I also like the colour of the Mesa Red which looks lovely when clean and polished but I think I'm right in saying that red paint on cars fades over time and shows scratches and stone chips more than a silver one. What has/have your experience(s) been? Thanks
  8. Interesting Autocar article on converting existing petrol cars to electric. Lexus GS mentioned. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/electric-cars/how-put-electric-car-your-driveway-little-£900?utm_source=20201201&utm_medium=EMAIL&utm_campaign=&utm_content=ACAR ENews Bulletin - SUBS AD V5 (TUESDAY) (39)::article2_image
  9. Why has he not rejected the car? Why has the dealer said we don't know how to fix it, you need to contact Audi? Surely it is the dealer that should be contacting Audi... The mind boggles! More videos like this and eventually the car buying public will realise the one way to go is to buy Lexus, Toyota, Honda etc.
  10. Can they be removed without leaving any marks? Bolted/screwed-on I presume?
  11. Has anybody else had a no fault accident and taken the route Barry has of claiming through the other driver's insurance?
  12. Some good suggestions there Herbs! I've copied it for future reference. Thanks.
  13. Quote/ 5. Calliper slide pins, make sure the correct grease is being used, a lot of people / mechanics use a high temp grease which is fine to prevent the pins from seizing but it attacks the rubber calliper boots. The Toyota Red Rubber Grease is the recommended grease to use as it both lubricates the pins and does not attack the rubber boots. Other greases may attack the rubbers and leave then dry and misshaped letting water / dirt into the pin recesses and then resulting in seized pins. Quote/ Might be a daft question, but does this apply to all Lexus models, indeed all makes of cars? I have a GS300 and I get my local indy to grease the callipers bi-annually but never thought about the grease potentially attacking the rubber boots. Thanks.
  14. Would it be a good idea, for future car purchases, to have a potential used car purchase inspected by the AA or RAC? Even if it is being bought from an official Lexus dealership? Sounds a good way to do it for me as I don't don't know anything much about the mechanics of cars.
  15. Herbs, does that apply to all hybrids, that they should never be towed?
  16. You can get the new RAV4 in the Excel spec with memory drivers seat and seats in beige leather which I quite fancy as a possible alternative to the NX.
  17. I would put your question on the RX section, you'll get a response that way. I don't think many members look as far down the page to see the General Maintenance section. I only looked today as there wasn't anything of particular interest to me further up the webpage. I gather you are looking for an independent rather the main dealer but Lexus Sheffield have a very good reputation on here, Lexus Leeds not so much I think.
  18. Very interesting document, but am I right in thinking that connecting up to a CTEK charger when the car is in storage/ off the road for a say a few months would trickle charge and maintain the auxiliary battery. I ask for confirmation of this as that's what I've been doing recently with my non-hybrid GS300 but as I am considering an NX300h I'd like to know if the CTEK would do the same in storage for the NX as it does for my GS. Thanks.
  19. Thanks Colin. So you are saying it's nothing to do with the NX Model choice of Luxury or Premier? It's a separate thing, depends on if Premium Navigation was chosen as an option when the vehicle is new?
  20. My neighbour is out at the moment but the alarm of her 2014 RX450h starts sounding for about 1 minute or so and it's done this 4 or 5 times in the last few hours. It is parked on her driveway. Any idea what could be causing this so that I can help her sort it it out? This is the first time it has happened to her car in the 6 years I lived here. Thanks.
  21. I think that depends on the year of manufacture. Just been looking at a 2018 Luxury on the Lexus website and it has the trackpad. Anyone know when it changed? Any other views on the preference for the rotary controller versus the trackpad?
  22. I knew you'd know how to find this out Herbs. I of course have the charger but no idea how to perform the calculation as per the link you attached. Hopefully someone else on here will be able to do it. I was surprised that you don't have a CTEK but then remembered you've got a Hybrid and you'll just use your booster pack if/when necessary.
  23. Read this thread on this forum. Maybe Michelin Cross Climate tyres will improve the ride sufficiently. Michelin Cross Climates are very popular and have been recommended many times.
  24. Sorry to disappoint you Je but maybe best to wait a little longer until 2018 models are at a lower price. Expecting some more comments from existing NX owners (hopefully)
