  2. Welcome Greg, that's a great car, glad you're enjoying it. Photos of the inside would be good to see!
  3. I had it and my garage cleaned the pads and rounded off the edges (I think). Has been a lot better since, only squeels occasionally now.
  4. So that's just the front that needs replacing you think? What sort of suspension does the rear have?
  5. My car is a GS300 November 2007 - On the last service (Indy) in April, they noted "Minor oil leak O/S/F Shock' but said to wait and see how it is when in for a service next year. Mileage was 78,362. Mileage now about 79,800. However, prior to that I had been aware of the car not handling bumps in the road vey well, quite jarring sometimes. When on roads in VERY good condition the car travels very smoothly but I'm noticing the bumps and jarring quite a lot now on any road that isn't smooth. Which suspension parts would need to be replaced to get the suspension back to as new condition? How much would it cost for labour and materials. It's the same old storey, do I spend money on it or sell it? The exhaust sounds fine but I've read on here lately that at this age/mileage that could also be on the horizon. Even though these cars are very reliable, and this one has been, it's an unknown as to what might need spending in the future. All comments welcome. Thanks.
  6. Is there anyone on here who could look at the spec of this tyre inflator and tell me if you would buy it if you were in need of one. It is rechargeable from the mains and from the cigar lighter in the car. Lots of choices on the market and this one looks very compact and neat. Is it too compact, thinking of possible overheating? Thanks. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384189703625?&ul_noapp=true&autorefresh=true
  7. I have had my 2007 model since 2009, it had something like 20K miles when I bought it, now got 73K miles. Wonderful car, no unexpected bills as far as I can remember, normal wear and tear items as you'd expect as the car ages. Never let me down, always feel confident going any distance in it. I keep thinking about buying an NX or similar for the higher driving position (easy of getting in and out) as I get older but not done so yet. The RFL is a bit of a bummer at over £500 but the lower RFL on an NX would never give me back what I'd spend to change the car. I've just this week topped up the tank for the first time with Super Unleaded E5, I've always used Regulated Unleaded E5 previously. This particular V6 petrol engine is not suitable for E10.
  8. I have a 2007 GS300 and it is NOT a CVT gearbox, it is a traditional auto gearbox and is wonderful. I see many GS300's 2007/2008 years for sale described as having a CVT gearbox and it annoys me as it's just lazy misinformed advertising. AFAIK a CVT box might have been introduced when the new shape was introduced around 2011/2012?
  9. Thanks everyone. Very interesting and acceptable consumption figures. I appreciate we will all attain different consumption figures as driving styles will vary and lots of other variants but it gives me a good idea of what to expect. Thank you again 😀
  10. Could owners of the NX model years 2018 onwards please tell me what they personally are getting in MPG? I just want to get an idea of what the approximate average might be for local running around and longer motorway journeys. I know it's been mentioned on here but a search for NX MPG came up blank! Also I would be looking to buy a Luxury or Premier or whatever they now call the later models. (Luxury would be fine for me but I would have to forgo the memory driver's seat positions and that's the only reason why a Premier would be a consideration. Also when did the specification names change to NX, F-Sport and Takumi?
  11. I thought Gap insurance had been discussed on here but can't find anything since 2016 when I do a search. My daughter and her husband have just bought a used low mileage car (might be a demonstrator) from a main dealer (not a Lexus unfortunately) for £24,750 (List price £30,000). They have rejected a GAP insurance quote of £400 from the dealer but have got a quote from gapinsurance.co.uk for £165. They are paying cash plus part exchange so there is no finance amounts to be insured. They are asking me if it worth it in their case or should they save the money. What are the pros and cons? Thanks.
  12. Thanks guys I checked buycarparts.co.uk and the bonnet struts are priced from £10.28 pair up to £48.90 pair plus delivery of £8.45 but KYB brand not offered. I will check the current price for the regassing to compare. Massive savings on lexuspartsdirect.co.uk. The KYB shock absorbers are available at £100.45 each + delivery charge, so these work out about half the price from lexuspartsdirect.co.uk. BTW, just in case you didn't know, I just discovered buycarparts.co.uk and autodoc.co.uk websites are the same company and based in Germany. I'll have to check if there is any import duty to pay. Many thanks for the info.
  13. I'm looking for recommendations on suppliers for the above items for my GS300 year 2007. A quick search finds the following: lexuspartsdirect.co.uk shows the bonnet struts at £141.41 each and https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/bonnet-struts-11877/lexus/gs shows various brands at prices from £11 to £70 each. On eBay about £15 for a pair https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171997839319?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649. So a massive difference in price and I presume quality. The shock absorbers at lexuspartsdirect.co.uk are £219.04 each, not searched anywhere else yet. Reason for pricing the shock absorbers is that the front offside has been noted as misting due to slight oil leak when the car was serviced this week by my indy and they said to wait and see what it is like in another 12 months, but just thought I'd price up whilst getting a price for the bonnet struts. The shock absorber(s) would be fitted by the indy bit I reckon I could do the bonnet struts myself. BTW, is it best practice to replace bonnet struts and shock absorbers in pairs rather than just one side?
  14. For me, the far nicer looking front grill is the easiest way to check it's a facelift.
  15. I know this is an old thread but as it has been resurrected, I have a question. Will there be a record of what has happened to this particular 2019 NX? I wouldn't want to be the person buying it at some future date if it has no warranty on the petrol components. Any thoughts on this as there are obviously a certain number of used cars out there which have been incorrectly fueld?
  16. And of course it's always wise to have a battery booster pack in the car, especially with a hybrid that only has a small battery under the bonnet(or in the boot) https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015TKPT1A/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A30DC7701CXIBH&psc=1
  17. Keeping it rather than buying a new one, especially at that mileage, is a good choice.
  18. I agree with the all the positive comments. Seems like a fair price for a very comfortable and reliable NX. When I eventually buy it will be a Luxury or a Premier. The only reason for choosing a Premier for me is the memory seats but it is a lot more money just for memory seats but I have got used to the convenience of them in my GS300 which I've had for about 11 years.
  19. This NX Luxury is for sale at Lexus Newcastle and outwardly looks to be in very good condition, attractive price and low mileage. However, would the M.O.T. history put you off buying this car? My observations are it did 14,428 miles in the first 3 years (average 4,800 p.a.). In the 4th year it did 5,400 miles. Then 7 months later it was MOT'd again (5 months early) when it had done a further 747 miles. I suspect this early M.O.T was done when it was acquired by Lexus Newcastle and if so, it's taking a long time to sell it, notwithstanding the current restrictions of course. Also the condition of the tyres (at time of M.O.T) with such a low miles is concerning and leads me to think that the car has probably been standing a lot. Garaged/Not garaged? The tyres have probably now been replace by the dealer but I'm wondering if this car might have hidden problems. I know that there would be a Lexus dealer warranty with the car but even so! Do you think it could have hidden problems? I'm not necessarily going to buy it but I thought this served up an opportunity to discuss this type of M.O.T. history as it could be helpful to some of us. https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/Nx-Estate/300h-25-Luxury-Lexus-NavCon-Pack-mqcfz4h
