  1. Damn it! An earlier owner (not the one immediately previous to me) had a tint removed poorly, which means my previous quote has risen to £200 to allow the fitter to remove the seats and parcel shelf to clean the rear screen properly and refit with 20% film. Going back in on the 27th.
  2. @Grey One my guess with the ZT260 community, and I say this as an ex MGB owner, is that there may be slightly more opportunities for fix / repair than with our vehicles. After all, that is one of the prime reasons for getting an ISF: power and reliability. Which bring us neatly to your observation. Most of us post about maintenance (to avoid Lexus fees), cosmetic tweaks (myself included), and interest in the development of tuning mods. Can't really help the lack of input with such a small population who could contribute.
  3. Something like this (from down under, on the Club Lexus forum)....
  4. I'd never go for the 5% option. I'm erring towards the 20%. Probably not helping that I'm thinking of going for the 'murdered out' look and black plastidipping the chrome window trim and rear badges. Plus some sort of affordable bodykit (would love a TOMs carbon fibre kit, but my budget won't stretch that far).
  5. So what are people's reasons for not liking the 20%? Is it because the inside gets too dark in our pasty UK sunlight, or it something else? I would have thought the 20% would appeal for the black cars, externally, for the continuity of the paint colour. But I can understand if the inside gets a little coffin like. Or is it the slightly greater contrast between front and rear that puts people off? I'm probably going to get my Firenze red Disco 4 with almond interior done with 20% from the b-pillars back like I had done on our previous Bali blue Disco 4.
  6. @DT_Racing, I've got a quote for a b-pillar back tint at a local place for £150, done next Thursday. Seem reasonable? Also, are your photos with the 35% tint applied?
  7. And now the winter tyres are on, what happens? The temperatures pop up to 8C / 9C. Typical!!
  8. Fair enough. I won't panic quite yet then. I certainly didn't think the master cylinder would let air in just like that.
  9. So did the front discs and pads yesterday. First one was me learning, second one took less time as I'd learnt the tricks. Quick test drive and it pulls straight and silent. Excellent. However, it does feel as if I've got a sightly spongy brake pedal. I did take the cap off the master cylinder in case pushing the pistons back for the thicker pads / discs needed some leniency. I'm 99% sure the cap is back securely, but do I need to get the brakes bled? There's no leaks and no parts missing, and I was sure to be careful with the calipers when they came off so the hoses weren't stressed.
  10. Haven't listened to the clip, but in my 2010 ISF, I've had the beep, hit the limiter and had the 'fluttering' of what I would guess is timing cut. I've got a video of it, I'll see if I can get it onto YouTube and post it.
  11. @CharlieC What's your take on the intake vs power discussions from t'other side of the pond?
  12. I think it's vacuum based. Certainly it kicks in / opens up at around the 3,600rpm point. And in certain aftermarket fits that do away with the second intake there is talk of plugging a small hose.
  13. Was thinking of an HPS intake. I've recently put a K&N panel filter into the stock filter housing (old OEM one was starting to look a little scabby). But I'll need to think about the filter box / intake flap options.
  14. OK, I'll qualify this. I have a cat back with valved silencers, and when the secondary intake opens it goes full NASCAR. Until then it burbles nicely to the point that you can see pedestrians doing a double take to find the source of the noise. I'm thinking about an intake that removes the secondary intake flap to get that noise all the time. But as we all know, intakes are a divisive subject.
  15. Question: are the Brembo discs 'handed'? By that, I mean is the drilled pattern orientation different for a drivers side vs a passenger side. I've not found different part no's.
  16. Blimey, that's cheap. Almost worth the travel down to Derbyshire. Just spoke to a paint shop in Glasgow that was recommended on Pistonheads; Touch-ups in Polmadie. They gave an over the phone quote of about £500 for a bumper off, front wings and bonnet respray using a 'hard' crystal clear top coat. They indicated they had an alternative top coat available that was slightly more 'rubbery' was his description, I took that to mean more forgiving, for an extra £50. I wouldn't do this until next year once the gritters had finished. It would be about 2-3 days of work.
  17. I know it varies by region and even by business, but what experiences have people had on front end resprays? I've got the usual road rash which is the only blemish on my car (currently sitting just over the 61k miles mark). Have people got the front end resprayed in Lexus colour but with a modern hardness? Or just gone with like-for-like? What sort of costs / timescales are involved? I could ring some bodyshops, but they'd just deflect until I bring the car in, which on a day to day basis I don't have the time to do.
  18. I would kill for those prices for the ISF. I now have the Brembo front discs and pads to fit. Just have to find the time this / next weekend to get on with it.
