  2. Him and his better half are both Police in London and are based in the near-London SE. Sale process was very easy, with the exception of the actual payment mechanism (online / telephone banking). Price was agreed pre-meet, I test drove, showed the features, they had a look round and the deal was done. Happy bunnies all round. I'm sure he'll fit in; his other vehicles are a twin turbo IS300 and a custom imported / built GT-R (not sure, but I seem to recall R34 being mentioned) with 700bhp.
  3. @Flytvr, it took a few months, that's for sure. There weren't many on when I started, now there seems to be a glut. I know mine has slightly higher mileage than average, but it did necessitate a couple of drops in ticket price before I got the bite.
  4. So that's the deed done. Black ISF is now on its way south to Kent. New owners are near Blue water so may be visible in the future. The owner is a copper, so keep it clean. Its been an absolute pleasure to own an ISF and I will admit, it was a little awkward letting it go, but needs must. Bye everyone, have fun with V8's!!
  5. I went round the advert loop a number of times. A few speculatives, a few laughables. Funnily enough, the guy coming to purchase (hopefully) came from my eBay ad in the end. AT was limited in response, as you found, PH didn't yield anything
  6. Yes, it's still the same. I replaced my sidelights with LED bulbs. Realistically, the only tricky bit is getting access behind the air filter housing and the intake pipe on the drivers side. I had to unbolt the airbox from the car, take the intake feed off the slam panel, then swing the intake pipe out the way to get access. Bit of a faff, but possible. I think it took about 5mins for the passenger bulb and about 20-25 for the drivers side, with most of that unbolting and then rebolting the intake kit.

  8. Oi @Prof Manny, you shush!! I've almost convinced myself into an Evora and now you're agreeing with my heart approach of an Exige S. I do however know that my budget won't stretch to an Evora S, so there's going to be a 'compromise' somewhere along the line anyway.
  9. Lotus is nice. Trialled a N/A Exige, but wasn't impressed compared to my previous supercharged Elise S. Think I need to try a supercharged Exige S, and an Evora. My gut feeling is that an Evora is more appropriate as I'll need the ability for 4 seats in some way shape or form. Difficulty being, as you say, the vulgar subject of ££ as to whether I can get into an Evora at this stage. I may go for a staged approach and try to get into an Exige S for a couple of years, then 'upgrade' to an Evora. Heart says Exige S Head says Evora FIGHT!!!

  13. Despite being reliable, which is one of the main reasons I got my BLACK 2010 ISF in the middle of last year the consumables can be relatively easy to work on. My experience with brakes so far was that for a very limited run of cars, they were much easier to work on for even amateur spanner-jockeys than my previous Audi S4. Just don't be fooled into paying main dealer prices for parts. I was quoted £1k for front discs and brakes and after spending £280 in parts I was clearly well up. Can't fault the main dealer costs for services though. For a significantly uprated car, the service costs were miles better than going main dealer for Audi / BMW / Merc. And finally, Welcome!!
  14. So I've tried a few spirited drives, with some hard pressure braking to get pads up to some sort of higher temp. Certainly discs were too hot to touch in those instances. If it's the pad vibrating in the caliper, I'm guessing the options are: try re-bending the spring clips, or replacing the spring clips, and removing the pads and regreasing the back faces between the shims and the pads. Anything else?
  15. Don't think it's the grit idea as the discs are doing just fine with no grooves. Could be the up to temp idea. What actual brand are the OEM pads though? I've tried the bedding in processes you all read about (can't recall the details now though, despite reading up on it and following the guidance), and this is what I get. Will probably just get someone to look at it when it's in for the next service.
  16. I do about 70 miles a day, call it 5 days a week. And the brakes have been on since before Christmas. So I reckon I've done at least a thousand, maybe more since I've put them on. Brake parts were ordered in October when I reckoned I would get stuck in myself.
  17. So, got the Brembo discs and pads fitted on the front of the ISF, no problem at all. However..... I'm getting squealing under braking. Definitely from the front. Not at all pedal pressures though; light pressure has nothing, firm pressure has nothing, mid-pressure it squeals. Doesn't matter whether it's wet or dry. There's no grumbling from the brakes and the car pulls up straight and true. I reused the spring clips and shims having cleaned them up. I also used the proper anti-squeal between shim and pad (on the right side, obviously) as a 'generous' smear. Short of taking the whole damn lot apart, or just purchasing new shims / spring clips, does anyone have any suggestions?
  18. Austin Metro VDP (silver) - student car, ran it with the suspension empty for a while and it handled like a go-cart. Blew the headgasket, got it fixed and sold it to my brother. Ford Escort Estate (white) - meh, did the job VW Bora (silver) - First 'proper' car out of being a student Audi A4 TDi saloon (Silver) MGB Roadster (red) - has this built for me, Nightfire Red blue with magnolia leather and the minilites. Turned out to be a chopped GT so went straight back to the garage to be replaced with.... MGB Roadster (blue) - has this built for me, Tahiti blue with magnolia leather and the minilites. Loved this car. Audi A4 TDi avant (grey, which is close to silver) Land Rover Discovery 4 - for my wife, Bali Blue Subaru Impreza GB270 (WRC blue) - great car, stuck like glue but the body trim wasn't really compatible with the extreme cambers we have in Scotland. Range Rover Sport TDV8 (grey, which is close to silver) - sounded mega when you put your foot down, but £100 in fuel was a little much. My wife couldn't understand why I changed it for.... Volvo XC70 (red) - As a commuter car, I couldn't really fault it. My wife however hated it. Land Rover Freelander (blue) - when we lived in the sticks, was a non-car really. Lotus Elise S (Sienna Brown, it's OK it's a Porsche colour) - first and probably last new car spec'd by me. Ran it for a year, did 18k miles and only took one day off for ice on the motorway. Absolutely awesome. One day, I'll have another one... Land Rover Defender 90 (silver) - Went together with the Lotus for winter duties (while we also had the Disco 4). Love the simplicity of the D90. Tonka Toy. BMW 316i touring (blue) - borrowed / bought from my dad for a short while as a stop gap. On it's last legs and tried to gas us with a leak somewhere putting both fuel and exhaust gases into the cabin. Not good, but drove nice. Range Rover Evoque (silver) - Thought this was a step up, turned out to be wrong. Inverse Tardis. Horrible blingy thing. BMW X5 30D (black) - Cousin's other half worked in a main dealer and got us a good discount. Lovely car, just the flared lower half meant we were always terrified of kerbs and everything else out there damaging the paint. Didn't last long. Specc'd new by my wife. Land Rover Discovery 4 (red) - My wife's next car. The phrase cold dead hands has been used to describe the potential of selling this one. It just does what we need. The D5 isn't going to replace it. Audi B8 S4 saloon (red) - great while it worked, but the prospect of the S-Tronic shedding total failure all over my drive meant it was got rid of. Lexus ISF (black, black, black with hints of black) - the current steed, not planning on off loading this unless something awesome comes along.
  19. So, when can I take these winters off again? Temps are predominantly north of 7C here in the central belt of Scotland (I know slightly ironic given those in The South busy complaining of a little chilly weather). I'm just aware that the winter tyres work best below a certain point.
