  1. 2010 got HDD based navi but update is done via direct HDD access. How big is the file you downloaded ?
  2. Yet another question about the Gen4 GS450h. Does anyone got any experience with the gearbox oil change ? According to Lexus-tech.eu it should be inspected on 40K miles and I assumed changed at the 80K mark. Severe conditions asks for 30k check and 60k change. In my current Gen3 I've change it when it was 100k miles. For me personally all the oil for life stories are rubbish, unless you define car life as 3y/60k miles :)
  3. Oh yes, blanks buttons are the worst think for me too. With the HUD and nightvission though I've noticed the buttons are missing. My old 2008 Accord got ACC,PCS,LKAS and it was nice feature especially while driving 600miles+ during one day on the motorway. I believe older system relies on the DUN bluetooth profile which should be supported by Apple but I haven't double checked that. Thanks for all the answers.
  4. There is also this website: https://toyotamaps.online They are selling maps for the early MK4 for 79USD which is just under 60GBP right now. Anyone bought anything from them ? I'm also curious if the product they are selling is some cracked version or they just got good deal with the manufacturer - probably 1st option :)
  5. I've done some research and it looks like in: May/2012 - leaking heater was fixed Oct/2013 - new ECU software to avoid misfires which could destroy cat April/2014 - suspension was retuned + new AVS software as old setup could produce some vibrations Beside above I've also noticed that HUD wasn't very common until 2014 so maybe it was added then. Additionally is there any benefit beside online search by connecting sat nav to the Internet via phone ? It would be nice if it could fetch the more accurate traffic data via this medium.
  6. Honestjohn report is not saying too much beside the well known fact. I'm more after details like Jay has mentioned or something like in 2012 something was faulty and later models got it fixed (like oil pump in mk3). I've also noticed that some models in rest of the EU got heated steering wheel and night vision was that even an option in the UK ?
  7. Hi, Does anyone know or have some link to any minor changes in the current GS ? I've noticed that 2014 premier got different alloys compared to 2012 and 2013. Is there any more changes before main lift in 2016 ? I'm more and more tempted to replace my current 2010 model with something newer. BTW if anyone like high milaages bargains give me a shout as I might want to sell mine soon.
  8. Unless it is GS F https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/GS-50-F-4dr-Saloon/Mark-Levinson-Sunroof-vdbleu2 :) Not even 2 years under 10k miles and already at 57%...
  9. I once started a conversation with a dealer about 2012 GS450h Premier with price tag of 25k. They weren't really willing to lower it by more than few hundreds. Car disappeared after week or two so I assume some just bought for asked price.
  10. Question is how much the BMW or Merc cost when they were new ? Lexus was/is at £50k+ where competition was at £40+ to just start with. Then there is a lot of 530D E350 on market which creates bigger pressure on price and finally Diesels are not trendy any more so you got big selling market but not so many buyers. If you don't want to spend in £20k area maybe just look for the 2010-2012 ? Like: https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/GS-450h/35-SE-L-qxblclc Or GS250 like: https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/GS-250/25-Luxury-kmblaum
  11. Website is saying that life time is good so I assume yes, but I haven't used them before. Here is the website with all the details: https://ebcbrakes.com/product/redstuff-brake-pads/ Plus it is the UK company so buying them you can support the local economy ;)
  12. £65 is not bad price. As far I know stock price is closer to £90-100 area. Price it self is not a problem but fact you are paying almost £100 for standard (are they made by Textar ?) pads is :) Redstuff got even a little bit bigger price tag of £100-110 but they are ceramic pads. As per EBC site - + 20-25% performance gain - quiet - almost no dust - gentle on the disc 2 disadvantages are when it is very cold (way lower than UK cold) they might need a while to get to the max performance plus heat transition is a little bit lower than in metallic pads but we got quite big disc in GS and I'm not going to use car for any track days etc. Probably due to heat characteristic they are not recommended for trucks and SUV.
  13. 40k is nice price for it. I'm slowly getting ready to replace my GS450h and was looking for the post facelift GS450h premier. Case is they are now more expensive and rare than the GS F so who know maybe I'll end up with the GS F :)Is there any owner around to share the experience ?
  14. Hi, Most probably I'll need to replace my front pads in the following months. Does anyone got any recommendations what to buy ? I was thinking about EBC Redstuff ones. I never used them but got greenstuff in my previous Accord and I was happy with them. Thanks
  15. If you got winter tyres you will be fine in GS as it is heavy at the back. I was driving to Luton airport today and almost get stuck in the car park spot :P Point is with summer high performance tyres don't expect that even snow mode will help you out :) In my case gently moving back and forth solved the problem but it was closed and I got quite a lot of experience with snow.
  16. I'm not worried about a technical bits but about the car image. Plus it got quite often rear seats message system etc so it is a bit of waste to put child seat on top of that :) Somehow in my head it is the car to enjoy from the rear seat while being driven by a driver - like Bentley or RR. It might be wrong of course. Check out the rear seats options here: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201605204153168?make=LEXUS&advertising-location=at_cars&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&radius=1500&sort=sponsored&model=LS 600H&postcode=bh189pa&page=2
  17. I'm also considering the LS but as for now it is a bit too expensive and got this feeling that a child seat doesn't fit it too well ;) 18mpg is not the best one but I could live with it. What is more worrying is the reliability. I know the Germans are they best I would expect more from the JLR. Saying that my colleague bought brand new Evoque and got problems with the fuel system in the 1st year...
  18. About the dark side. I'm slowly thinking what my next car will be. For now obvious choice is GS (most probably post facelift) but my wife really likes the current Jaguar XJ design. As I don't like diesels and 5.0 V8 is a little bit too much only option would be 3.0 SC. Anyone got any experience with XJ or/and that engine ? I believe Jaguar F-Type got the same one.
  19. Can you get proper leather upholstery on the A6 ? I was driven in few A6/E and all of them got this terrible leather - it just doesn't feel right. Maybe cab drivers didn't bother to pay extra for it or maybe it is just how it is. To defend Mercedes, last time I were lucky and S class came, and this time it was a proper nice soft leather like on mine GS. Beside that I like all that illumination option on the rear seats. All cars were the newest models. Oh, I also love the seat belt on the S class why no-one never thought about it. It is nice soft and thick. Like two sheet of material put together with some nice soft filling.
  20. Turn the radio on a little bit louder works brilliantly in the cold mornings when car is a little bit more rough :)
  21. Where is a sat nav ?? I didn't know there were version without one.
  22. My accord with faulty VTC/VVT accuator pin was making following noise: If yours is longer that few sec it is not low pressure oil fault.
  23. Your Civic 1.4i was very simple. In my family there is still Honda Legend from 2001 which is closing to the 500k km/300k miles. It is also very simple engine which just run. Newer constructions are just much more complicated and things like that just happens.
  24. In recent years quite a lot manufactures got problems with variable timing actuators. My previous Accord got it and previous GS generation also got problem with it sometimes. Maybe it is back in GS300h too. In Accord it was just the sound and wasn't affecting engine at least not in short/mid term. I've done like 40k miles with it.
