  1. Lexus say that the tank has a "Reference" capacity of 65 litres. I take this to mean that it is actually larger to take account of the factors which you mention. I should think that about 10% of the tank capacity as a reserve is reasonable and expected.
  2. Have a look at these: https://www.y-cam.com/security-cameras/ Very nice quality and come complete with free 7 day cloud storage.
  3. Here's a bit of useful information about the 4th Generation RX450h. I have run the range reading down to zero just at the point of refuelling. It took 58 litres to the brim thus leaving 7 litres left in the 65 litre tank. This residual is equivalent to 1.55 gallons. If you reckon on 30 mpg, this gives an emergency range of about 46 miles. You never know when this might be handy to know.
  4. I have an RX450h in Sonic Titanium. It is basically silver and only slightly bronzed in appearance and varies with the prevailing lighting conditions. It is most certainly not "gold".
  5. @lockeyboy, I have tried ECO mode but this appears to make almost no difference to the engine cut-in point. There is a change but it is very slight. This doesn't really matter much but I notice it as it is different from the IS300h.
  6. This is exactly my experience with the 4th Gen model. The difference in behaviour compared to my partner's IS300h is quite marked. Almost any uphill slope or more than just a trace of throttle puts the engine on. I also get the "too much throttle" when creeping into my drive up a slight slope.
  7. Yes, I would expect a new "pricing model" at £39,999 to be along soon. It seems stupid to penalise potential owners by £1200 (based on a typical 3 year ownership).
  8. My experience with the full LED triple setup on my RX450h is that you do not gain anything from foglights as the beam control is so good. I'm not so sure about the AHBC though.
  9. My daily driving is on mixed roads but overall only about 5 - 10% motorway journeys. I typically drive 8 - 10 mile journeys on A and B class roads. I typically use "normal" mode. On a longer trip to Cardiff at Christmas I used motorways/dual carriageways and recorded 34.5 mpg on the car computer (very accurate). I also typically do similar speeds to you on these roads. I am pretty satisfied with this. BTW, one of my colleagues has an NX300h and I am pretty impressed with it.
  10. 1. You can adjust the light sensor sensitivity. Manual page 597 in the customisation options. 2. There are two ranges of tyre pressures. See the sticker on the drivers door pillar. If you don't intend to drive very fast, then there are lower settings. 3/4. No creaks here. 5. Don't know.
  11. So, where is the October 2016 update (presumably 2015 maps)? My dealer is chasing this up but no joy at present.
  12. I used to have a Range Rover Sport L494 with the 3L TurboDiesel engine. This has similar performance to the RX450h and similar weight etc. I got a real (forget what the on board computer said) MPG of about 29 - 30 mpg. I have averaged 32.7mpg in my 4th Gen RX450H so far in similar use.
  13. This is caused by the Pre-Crash Safety collision avoidance system warning you that you are approaching an obstacle in front of the car at too high a speed and not braking. Page 310 of the manual refers. You can change the warning sensitivity and I have mine on the middle setting which prevents most red alerts. I have had it flash when accelerating to overtake another car.
  14. On the latest RX450h, the fuel tank is 65 litres. When I fuel up to the brim, the range meter typically shows 420 miles. When the range is showing 50 miles left you can get about 52 litres in. This means that 13 litres or 2.86 gallons are still in the tank. At, say, 30 mpg this shows that even if you run it down to zero range you have about 35+ miles left to refuel. This is an unsurprising safety margin. I have had several cars (but not a Ford) with the heated windscreen and I have never noticed any problem from the wires. Perhaps the other manufacturer's implementation was better. However, parked car heating is by far the best solution.
  15. When I got my RX450h Premier in September it was fitted with 02-36-00 maps. These are dated October 2015. This month (after I discovered inaccuracies) I have complained to the dealer about selling me such out of date maps and - thus far - have been told that these are the latest. Not too good for such an expensive car is it?
  16. I assume that you have the latest model RC450h as yours is only 10 months old. I also have the new version now just under 5 months old. Regarding the radio changing settings, is it possible that you are using a different key to open the car? The audio (and climate) settings are memorised per key and not overall. The passenger side aircon and the auto passenger seat heating is dependent on the passenger door being opened and the seat occupied. It does not operate if only you are in the car. However, If you open the rear doors then it seems to come on even if nobody is in the passenger seat. I have not yet worked out exactly how the logic works. There are some other annoying and silly things. For example, the wood insert steering wheel on the Premier model only heats up on the small leather areas and not the wood (where you need it). Why didn't they fit the electrically heated windscreen (or parked car heating) on the premier model? I can't reach the middle of the windscreen to scrape the ice off. Regarding economy, I have got 32.7mpg overall so far and currently about 30mpg in the cold weather. I never use ECO and typically drive "brisk" journeys of 10 miles on varied roads. The car computer is pretty much dead on verses brim-to-brim refuelling checks. I hope this is of interest.
  17. Yes, it's only for newly registered cars. The worst bit is the "envy tax" premium for cars valued over £40K. Expect to see a realignment of models to come in just under this limit.
  18. My other half is getting about 46 - 47mpg overall in her 2016 IS300h. She does typical local journeys of 5 - 8 miles each.
  19. I have a scintilla of sympathy for this guy but, as you can see from the photograph, there are a lot of empty spaces in the car park so he wasn't really causing anyone any problems. One issue that should be addressed by new car park builders is to allow wider spaces as modern cars (my RX included) are wider than in the past. The RX is actually quite hard to squeeze out of in a narrow space as the doors are so thick.
  20. Well, how competent is the RX450h in snow and ice? Does anyone have any experience? Do you have to set up the car in any special mode? There is no mention of anything in the handbooks.
  21. You may like to know that on the 2016 models, you cannot actually turn the car lights off. You always have the DRLs on when driving. The "off" position on the stalk has been replaced with the "automatic" function which, as you say, puts the headlights on at some inappropriate times. The only way I can see to stop this is to manually switch to the sidelights position.
  22. I have been using the AHB fitted to my 2016 car. The automatic dip works reasonably well as do the other adaptive features but I have found one issue that may make me stop using the system. I live in a rural area with many unlit roads. If you are travelling down a main road with the lights automatically dipped (due to other traffic) and you turn off into an unlit side road the lights stay on dip as you turn. You cannot see where you are going as the dip beam cut-off is so sharp. This is because main beam is only restored at over about 40mph which you may not reach on a narrow lane. As you are using the automatic system, you cannot quickly hit the stalk to get main beam as it is already in this position. I find this a bit dangerous and I think the designers must all live in towns. I don't think this behaviour can be changed as I have looked through all the setup options to no avail.
  23. One of my colleagues with an NX300h had this problem the other day. It was simply that the air conditioning was inadvertently switched off thus not dehumidifying the air inside the car. I switched this back on and all was clear the next day. As noted above it is best to keep the A/C on all the time. Unlike the NX, the new model RX does not have an A/C switch on the dash and you have to use the centre display to set the climate controls. This makes it more difficult to accidentally switch off the A/C.
  24. Yes, I had an occasion where the voice guidance told me to go left where the main road I was on actually went straight on with only the slightest deviation to the left at the junction. Lane guidance? As for urban streets, I have seen a lot of Cardiff back streets which I would never had experienced if it were not for the nav system! The motorway exit view (with the signs etc.) appears to only be displayed if you turn off the automatic zoom on the map as a junction is approached. Switching the zoom off also enables the pop-up local route screen which is disabled in preference to the zoom. One amusing feature is that if a motorway junction is signed with "Services" as the first entry on the sign then the voice announcement gives this instead of direction to an actual place.
  25. Although I have a RX450h with the high end navigation system, I have had exactly the same experience on a recent trip to Bristol and Cardiff. The peculiar choice of routes (via town centres when simpler bypass roads are available) and direction down dead ends certainly rings a bell with me. It seems particularly poor in cities as I was told to go right round roundabouts to U-turn on several occasions. I checked the maps issued with the car (which was new in September 2016) and these are dated October 2015. I complained to my dealer who has confirmed that new cars being sold today also have these 15 month old maps. I don't think this is good enough for this level of vehicle.
