I find it interesting to see what my range is after filling up. Beyond that I’m not bothered really.

Had a renewal quote from Direct Line for £388 which was £30 cheaper than last year. Got it for £270 at Aviva. Always worth shopping around every year. This year we tried the MSE recommended 21 days before renewal search. We’ve saved £180 over two cars which was a 31% saving. Well pleased 😀

With winter approaching the range will drip no doubt. Might have to wait until next year to better mine.

Never been a better time to trade up I think. As you say, how long will it last is the big unknown. Hope it lasts for you. When the new NX350H makes it into the approved used scheme in numbers I will likely buy one. After buying 6 brand new cars since 2004, between my wife and I, we’ve decided never to buy new again. Which is a shame because nothing beats that brand new car excitement, feeling and smell 😀

I’ve just been offered £24k for my NX. I paid £21k for it 15 months ago in the approved used scheme. It was a very good buy at the time. Even better now! And the car has 30k miles on it now compared to 19k when I bought it. Similar cars to mine are now £27k in the approved used scheme. Probably is a good time to buy new.

I didn’t say they were good at their jobs. In my opinion being a politician is a low paid job when compared to top positions at big companies, and in acting and sports. A Minister of a government department is in charge of a huge budget with huge responsibility. I certainly wouldn’t do it, the returns are not commensurate with this. They are also fair game to every media outlet and member of the public as they blame everything on politicians. Regrettably I see the same actions in companies where every single thing wrong in people’s lives is the fault of the owners and bosses of the companies they work for. It’s a lame thing to blame politicians for everything.

I’d argue that politicians don’t get paid that much in return for the jobs they do and the responsibilities they have.

The government aren’t greedy. It’s been like this for years and years and years. The motorist funds a large part of government revenues and without this we’d all be paying higher income tax or other indirect taxes. Doesn’t make it right I know but they have to raise the money from somewhere.

I’m not so sure that is the most important thing for you. Reading this thread would suggest that an internet connection is one of the most important parts of a car for you. I bet you are also glued to your phone/iPad/tablet whilst on holiday too. Life can and does go on quite nicely without an internet connection. Much healthier too. You should try it. Enjoy the car and stop worrying about no internet connection maybe? Worth a try I’d say 😀

The media and those who didn’t want to leave the EU can normally put the blame for everything on Brexit. Maybe the shortage of HGV drivers in Italy, France and Germany can also be blamed on Brexit….. I read a report that stated that 2,000 HGV drivers leave the industry every year with only 1,000 new HGV drivers joining every year. Apparently it’s been the case for many many years. Pretty sure this is the main reason. Sure, Brexit and the pandemic will have had an impact too but the underlying reason is twice as many leaving the profession as joining the profession over a period of many years.
