  1. 54 in body and not a day over 24 in mind
  2. It is a black wheelie bin though so good colour co-ordination! Chrome trim looks nice against the black paint too. The bin looks a bit plain tbh
  3. A remarkable 53mpg from central Birmingham to home today. Wasn't rushing. Remarkable figure for a petrol-powered SUV. Weather warm today which has probably helped. I wasn't trying either, I just drove home sedately and checked the figure when I got home. 5 miles of congested city centre roads, another 5 miles of free flowing urban roads and then 20 ish miles of country A roads and dual carriageways
  4. I never ever got over 40 in a previous IS250. Had to be driven unbelievably gently to get over 36. Most tankfulls were 30-32 I think. Lovely sounding engine mind. Not much poke though
  5. Loving mine and no thoughts about what I'll buy next which is unusual for me
  6. No, I think the 200t engine and gearbox is not that great a combination. Also my NX is a company car so hybrid for tax reasons
  7. I've had quite a few quick cars in my time, some less than 6s to 60 and even 5.5, and they felt very quick every time. Had plenty of cars that do 0-60 in about 7s and they feel quick with a decent shove in the back. Also had plenty of cars around the 8-8.5s to 60. My arse tells me that my NX300h, and the others I tested, is not in the same league as any of these cars. Certainly doesn't feel like it anyway. Decent off the mark but that's about all. Can't see an NX300h posting a 7s 0-60, I've had too many cars that do that sort of figure, including my last car - an IS200t, and an NX300h doesn't feel that quick at all. I'm happy though, it's not all about the traffic light GP and in any case I'm a little older nowadays..
  8. Opinions about the nav and media are more about expectations than genuine quality I think. I've had three Jaguar XF and they are poor in comparison with the standard Lexus nav. I've had standard Nav on three Lexus models and premium nav on an IS250 F-Sport. To be honest I prefer the standard nav because I find the controller easier to use on the move. I've had the ML hifi on two past Lexus and both were good but not a patch on the 1200W Bowers & Wilkins in one of my Jaguars. Built in nav will never be as feature rich or as modern as phones because car manufacturers have much longer lead-times because they don't just pay to update gadgets, they have to pay to update suspensions, interiors, exteriors, engines, gearboxes, etc over the model life of a car and do endless testing. I'm happy but if I expected my OEM nav to be as good as a newly released TomTom or nav on a new smart phone then I'd probably be continually disappointed
  9. I'm looking forward to taking my car to Scotland for a week over Easter. Will be interesting to see how the economy shapes up with plenty of long steep hills to climb. Also wondering if I'll still be as comfortable after 8 hours in the car as I am after 1 1/2 hours. I haven't seen 45mpg yet but I am seeing most journeys now at 40mpg or just over. I do like the cornering lamps too at night. Sounds a bit gimmicky but turning at slow speeds you really do notice how well they work. Don't have HUD on mine but I've driven a Jaguar XF with HUD and I was impressed. Happy with mine too
  10. I plumped for an approved used Luxury. Tried an F-Sport and thought the ride was harsher and a little over-damped compared to a Luxury or Sport. Nearly went for a brand new Sport but decided on the Luxury because I wanted leather electric seats and because I was moving out of an IS200t Sport and didn't necessarily want the same trim level. The Sport looks nice with its black wheels and black mirror caps though
  11. This could be more down to the "ensemble" selected. If you see no signal, flick to the left on the screen and select next ensemble and then you'll see the next set of DAB stations. Ensembles cover Local, National, Local BBC, National BBC and others. I had no signal on my NX after I'd picked it up because I think it was set to local stations and as soon as I moved out of that area I had no signal. I eventually found the national BBC ensemble and then stored R1, R2, R5, R5L & R5SX plus a local BBC station. That's about all I listen to because I can't stand all the adverts on local radio. Not very intuitive with the ensembles and I stumbled across a thread on google when trying to find out why my NX DAB radio was sh1te
  12. Hi Just had a letter through the post today to say that my 14 plate IS250 F-Sport was subject to a recall for a problem with underbody sealant around the rear wheel arches. Seems that some cars within a certain manufacturing range were not fully sealed or may not be fully sealed. I can't be more specific than this because I skimmed it quickly but binned it when I realised it was for a car I'd sold about 18 months ago. Should have read it more closely. Thought I'd post as I assume others may also receive a letter
  13. Early days for me but first tankful on dealer supplied fuel was 35. 2nd tankful 37, 3rd 39 and nearly 40 on the current tankful. All the fuel I've put in has been BP Ultimate or Shell V-Power but doubt the dealer did. All my mileage is of a similar pattern every week and a tank lasts just over a week so a reasonable comparison although of course not the same day, nor exact weather & traffic conditions. Seems fairly easy to get 39-40mg on most journeys I do which is pretty impressive for a heavy petrol powered SUV.
  14. An acquired taste I should think. Brave choice if buying with own money because the pool of potential buyers will be smaller come resale time
  15. I've had three 3rd generation IS saloons - a 300h Executive, a V6 250 F-Sport and most recently an IS200t Sport. Compared to the IS I think an NX is more comfortable, more refined, quieter and a genuinely nice place to be. All of my IS saloons felt a little bit brittle on the road with every single slight ripple felt and I wanted a bit more comfort. An IS is a much more sporty drive though and stays pretty flat through the corners when pushing on. An NX is pretty good considering it's an SUV but it rolls a little more although grip levels seem to be pretty high. Different cars. Have you had an SUV before?
  16. my approach has always been to get on to electric power as quickly as possible by safely braking and gently too down to the point where electric power kicks in. I never do it when I have someone being me mind
  17. Must admit I'm a little concerned about aspects of this thread. I've never ever felt that a Lexua dealer tried to rip me off for servicing or repairs and I'm on my 5th now. Happened plenty of times with other marques but never Lexus. In fact the dealerships always carried out minor repairs foc making the whole ownership experience satisfying. I hope this one is a one-off
  18. A great read this thread. Very interesting and informative.
  19. Hi everyone New member just joined. Have recently bought an approved used NX300h Luxury. Lovely car, very happy with it and hope to keep it for 3 years although I have a habit of changing more often than this...!! Not my first Lexus and not my first Lexus hybrid. I've had a 2nd gen IS250 SE-L, an IS300h Executive, an IS250 F-Sport and an IS200t Sport, all 3rd gen cars. Although the 3rd gen IS is a lovely car, I've longed for a bit more comfort for a while now. I looked at a GS450h but settled for an NX once I'd driven a few. Running mine as a company car and all great so far. For me the 3rd gen IS has one really bad fault, the steering is just too heavy, inert and lacking in feel and it's almost impossible to know when the front tyres are losing grip. Glad to say that an NX has much better steering feel. Still a great car the IS but I think the steering and the rather brittle ride go against it. In between the Lexus cars have been 3 Jaguar XF saloons. The first a 5.0V8 and the 2nd and 3rd were V6 twin turbo diesel S models. I love Jaguars but they just don't carry the miles as well as a Lexus and the whole Lexus ownership experience I think is still second to none. Of course, none of the Lexus cars I've had have had anything like the effortless performance of all 3 Jaguars but I'm ok with this because every journey is no longer an exercise in self restraint. Averaged 37 from my first tankfull, 39 on my second and now 40 so far on my 3rd. All premium fuels and my NX was noticeably better when I put the first lot of BP Ultimate. More willing and responsive and better economy. I occasionally drive into the centre of Birmingham, a distance of 35 miles via 20 miles of dual track, 10 miles of free flowing urban roads and about 5 miles of queues and stop start. Have seen 43mpg regularly on these journeys which is quite outstanding for this type of journey in a heavy SUV. My previous IS200t would struggle to do 32mpg and the last XF about 36 on the same journeys. I also think I've insulated myself from the inevitable backlash and future penalties coming against diesel powered cars. Not to mention the heavy depreciation when no-one will want to buy a used diesel. I'm not looking for amazing economy but I do enjoy driving a hybrid and seeing what I can get mileage wise. I use the squirt and coast method to maximise electric power use - I've always found that it takes more out of the batteries to get up to speed via electric power only and I find it better to quickly get up to speed and then to maintain momentum using the batteries and motor(s) where I can. I also always brake down to 50 on fast roads when needing to slow down and then let the batteries take over for as long as possible. Mine is dark metallic blue with ivory leather interior, convenience pack, protection pack and standard nav. I don't hate the nav or the media unit because it's way better than what Jaguar turn out. Love the car and for the first time in a long while I'm not thinking about what car I'll have next. Ok, if I had to state a preference now I really could see myself in a Tesla next time. I'm running standard tyre pressures all round and I find the NX to be an amazingly quiet, comfortable and refined car. Off to Scotland in April so it will be interesting to see how it goes up there. I've driven enough hybrid miles to learn not to equate engine revs/noise to the car struggling up hills. It's just what they do and I find the performance to be more than adequate although I'm never going to say this is a fast car. Looking forward to contributing to the forum too.
