  1. Nice one Rich. Damn fine looking cars the convertible Saabs. Probably no better car for a birthday present to oneself especially when it's Hawaii time. Hope the sale goes well and the weather is favourable. Yeah as a caution do get belts pulleys etc changed. Yeah it may cost a couple hundred but worthwhile.
  2. st4 I stated infiniti hybrid only and they have quite possibly the best V6 petrol engine. Most reliable and bullet proof. Same as used in the superb Z350 Nissan. However the diesels are utter crap as they use the utter crap merc engine. So please don't tar ALL infiniti cars with the same brush.
  3. Well found Texas. And Rayaans pic is in that article. From the colours I had that wowza boat in mind.
  4. If I couldn't have Lexus then top of my list would be Infiniti (hybrid model only) followed by Volvo (not the ugly new ones) followed by Ford (I've had 6 and each were excellent )
  5. Well it's Wednesday and I'm in windy Blackpool. I was in a bit of traffic thanks to a bus lol and I saw an e type jag up ahead. I thought wow. Even more so there was another one in front. They went round a roundabout and I noticed on the cars were stickers saying e type club. I went straight ahead and blow me 3 more of them. Never before have I seen more than one e type on the road. What a day. Though I'd let you lot know.
  6. Maybe Peter that you get messages etc is because yours is a dongle. Mine however is an actual reader. I don't get any messages. From what I remember from my Ford days in the forums lots had OBD dongles bluetoothed to their phones but none left them in over night. They are a good piece of kit and very useful.
  7. Yes jaystar. Oil n water temp. Throttle position. Engine load which is interesting. And much more. Takes too long to go thru all the menu lol
  8. Thanks for your post Brouwers. Job done. I suppose Colin I was/am 'ignorant ' how the trans works in my car. I miss read what you posted re as if revving in neutral. But thanks for the links. 2nd one a good read. All I know is I drive a superb car and love it and also am gobsmacked at how the engine revs in different conditions. Yes the revs fluctuate and that's coz of the trans and that's what I love. Throttle at one position yet revs fluctuate between flats hills and downhills. No engine revs dragging as in a standard manual trans. Comfy quick/fast and economic. Think I should have posted this thread in general so more folk could read it. I know there are lots of folk who'd like a rev counter. Yes mrfunex it plugs straight into the OBD port and it's just like a reader but all I want it for is a rev counter. Job done.
  9. Wow what a couple of extra inputs. Firstly Colin what a load of tosh you stated " the CVT allows the engine to rev up essentially without load". Utter crap and from someone I've respected comments from. How the hell can any type of transmission allow an engine to rev up without a load? OK Rayaans I know where you're coming from kind of. Maybe the electronic's in the 4RX are different. In my previous is300h's I had the rev counter on always and it responded directly to my boot pressure. The rev counter did Not however do what it wanted to. The OBD reader I have also does NOT do what it wants to. What I've seen is true engine revs and been pleasantly suprised at what revs I've been at at certain conditions. Even more so than in the is300h's probably coz of the V6. Crikey I'm really suprised at these replies. To anyone else who is interested in my thread please ignore the above 2 posts.
  10. Because Peter I prefer and always have done to have a rev counter. If I can't control the engine with the throttle then how the hell do I make it go????? My OBD reader can do much much more than do just revs but it's revs what I wanted. OK an android app. I understand what you mean but to look at a phone whilst driving isn't on. Not even if it's mounted on the dash somewhere which to me is totally unsightly and makes the dash ugly. There are lots of folk like me who'd like a rev counter. I have posted a solution. Thanks for your reply btw.
  11. As much as I love my RX450h one thing, which I've mentioned elsewhere, which bugged me is its lack of Rev Counter. I'm sure I've read elsewhere on this forum if it's possible to introduce a Rev Counter and although there were many replies I didn't come across a possitive answer. Very recently I Googled said question and came across an American Lexus forum. Someone found that you can introduce a surface mount OBD reader which has a Rev counter within its plethora of other readings. I thought what a good find and proceeded to Amazon and purchased an OBD reader which pleased my eye and was small. Needless to say I'm a happy bunny now and I'm gobsmacked how low my car revs in various situation's and just how fast it gets to 6200 revs. Wow it revs quick and for a big V6 that's impressive. Below are a couple of photos of where I have mine mounted and a pic of which I have. Yes OK some wire shows but it's not a bother. A wider angle pic to show how small but very effective it looks. This is the reader I chose. I hope this will interest those, who like me, would love a Rev Counter in their car. Dead easy to fit and it also reads all other info and can read faults if they occur.
  12. Absolutely as Colin states. Park brake shoes basically never wear out. I've never changed any in my decades of doing my own brake services. Blimey Britpus that made me laugh. £200 not sounding much if said quickly.
  13. Yeah it's a little cracker. I'm only using it as a rev counter but it's a proper OBD reader and can read faults etc etc. Interesting to know on my short trip to work my engine didn't rev above 2k. Can't wait to see how it is on the motorway at the weekend. It does oil and water temperature and battery voltage and average speed mpg etc. I will learn it's other functions soon.
  14. Just a few minutes ago I fitted an OBD smart digital reader coz I wanted a rev counter. I found American forums who wanted a rev counter in their RX450h's and someone found to do it was through the OBD port so I found a nice looking one on Amazon and below are a few pics of where it's sited and the one I bought. Hope it's of interest to those like me who wants to know what revs the car is doing
  15. I had a drive from where I live in Rochdale to Bury on the A roads. I stuck to the speed limits but got their damn quick lol. It's all up and down hill and lots of bends. When I got home I looked at the display and blow me it read 42.2mpg. That is superb considering its a 3.5 litre V6 petrol. On motorway to Leeds sticking to the limit I get a nats over 40mpg but if I travel at let's say 80mph for example (cough cough) I get middle 30's. Damn good cars.
  16. Today I noticed via a reflection that one of the elements of the 3rd brake light wasn't on. Are these LED's separately replaceable or is it a whole unit needed? If new unit then the dealer will foot the bill.
  17. Wow Zubair that's shocking news and quite unbelievable. I agree as stated above. A 2nd opinion/investigation is a must. If it is kosher that a new engine and hybrid system is needed then it's definitely bye bye car.
  18. Search out car hifi specialist's. There is an organisation called EMMA that the good car hifi dealers join.
  19. That's disgraceful behaviour of that dealer. You need to contact Lexus UK and complain.
  20. The close to legal limit is pure scare tactics. Thackeray the text you posted on tyre wear list etc. From what year was that text taken? I ask because I believe a couple or so years ago they changed it to tread depth 100% across the width.
  21. Yes as matt stated. But I've been playing about with quotes and yes 21 days ahead is good but I found a number of times that 24 days was cheaper still. Oh yes 15k miles sure increases the premium.
  22. I've read articles on it and did comparison site searches. Not as many companies quote and those that do the quotes were around 3 to 5 hundred quid more. I searched for BMW's mainly 3.0litre and above.
  23. Top of the range is Premier. You may well see adverts of Premium Premier. Both my is300h''s were that. You made the right choice dropping out of that deal. CAT d''s are a beggar to insure
