  1. I've had 2 Is300h premiums both with ML. Both cars were same age spec colour inside and out yet both were world's apart. The 2nd one I had was superb. ML was top shelf excellent. How that could have been so different I don't know. My current car is the RX450h with ML. It's an excellent system but I have to turn it up more than I had to in the IS. Might do you I've not got round to playing with any setting yet. I've found that there's no difference in any of the sources used. CD is no better than Bluetooth in my findings. So what if you have to crank it up a bit more. That's progress I suppose. Maybe your system is akin to the power of a 2 stroke motorcycle and your previous car akin to a 4 strole bike. So longs as it sounds to your liking live with it.
  2. Yippee and well done John. Oh to me ICE most definitely stands for In Car Entertainment. Those who use it to short cut the car engine are copy cat lazy gits lol. I've been into ICE for 30 years and those initial's have been used for car hifi for decades more.
  3. That's what I call a nice pleasant surprise. Cheaper and free fitting. Nice one.
  4. This RX being your very 1st hybrid is gonna do your head in for a short while. It did me when I got my 1st hybrid (the IS300h and all previous cars had manual gearbox ) I couldn't get to grips with it so after 5 weeks it went for an auto box sports mondeo. I'm not saying goes get rid but be patient and learn your car. As Colin stated. Get upto the desired speed, so longs as it's below 40, then gently release pressure on the throttle. There are a few videos on YouTube made by lexus on how to drive the hybrid. I found that after driving the mondeo I got used to an auto box. This was good for me as I found driving the 2nd 300h I bought was so much easier than previous. Your economy will get better with time and from the info given you. Oh. On 1st start up of the car the engine will always start up no matter what. My car shows 3/4 full but within seconds it drops to about 1/4. Don't fall into the trap that you have an EV car. Our cars can go into EV mode but I've found that happens when the engine is at normal temp and the battery at anything over 1/4. So to answer your question. No. You just haven't got used to it yet. Just go out and drive it and enjoy it. They truly are a superb machine.
  5. That's a good point Rich which I can't answer till I take the plastic boot liner out. Thanks for that pointer.
  6. Interested Ed. Not seen any rust on your car (I use my phone not a PC or laptop to go on the forum btw) but your car is suffering from swirl marks. Thanks for your input tho. I have traced the rattle to the parcel shelf bar. No rattles when it's removed.
  7. Yeah m8 but since I have the plastic boot liner it'll roll about like it was on a roller coaster. Mind you I got a new shed on Friday and since I don't like that liner it'll have a new home in the shed. I'll try it in the used position. Cheers.
  8. Well I got round to giving my car it's 1st wash today. Yeah Ive had it 3 weeks. I've had to buy a step up stool so I can get to the roof. Blimey what a tall car lol. But it looks so good. Celestial Black looks magnificent when clean. Mind you I've seen a lovely looking deep metallic red one with black over riders on the wheel arches. That is a super combination colour scheme. Come up to Leeds but this time all the way in sport mode. Yes I broke all speed limits lol and still returned over 32mpg. I've read somewhere on here somebody struggling to get more than 23 mph in EV mode. I regularly get over 40 and how it pulls in EV mode compared to my previous IS300H is gobsmacking. One thing I noticed again today is the annoying rattle from the rear parcel shelf bar. You know what I mean. I really must cure that. 1st I'll true sticky back velcro (the soft bit) if that fails then I'll try blutack. Anyone else cured that rattle?
  9. Yeah I know what you mean. I went online and 2 different dealer chains charge very different rates for essential cate plans. £100 difference on a 2 year deal.
  10. That's good to know. I'll price that up for my RX. Cheers m8.
  11. For a start you won't need a low profile jack as the car sits high. Because the car is about 2 1/4 ton then a jack rated at 3 ton or more would be best. Don't forget heavy duty axle stands. Very important. 2 ton capacity should be more than good enough.
  12. Blimey Rayaans you have suprised me. Personally I would just get the dealer to do a bog standard service. Not at lexus either but at Toyota. But unless you've a Lexus warranty on the car then you're stuck with taking it to a Lexus dealer. So the essential service scheme is for cars 5 years and older?
  13. Cheers Carl. Mind you Meguires ultimate compunction is great on maringetting marks.
  14. Hi Rich. I don't use either the sensors or camera to park up. I'm struggling suss in out where the front near side wheel is. Reverse parking is a total doddle. Easiest car yet.
  15. The Meguires stuff I have is Scratch X 2.0 and the superb Ultimate Compound. Also got various T cut squeezies. One of the T cuts is black so I may just start with that on a compound sponge and see how that goes. Then the scratch X then finish with ultimate compound then a polish.
  16. True Rayaans but for us heavy handed sods it's easy lol. Ruddy excellent polishing Colin. I'd welcome your advice. Behind the door handle of my Celestial Black RX are a miriad of scratches from probably rings. Overall that area looks dull and the scratches make it duller. I was going to use T cut and a Polish but I do have Meguires stuff to. What do you suggest?
  17. Well more smiles in that yesterday I drove up to leeds for a nice bbq at the wife's youngest daughters (she's called me dad for over a decade). I thought I'd stick to the speed limits which I did. Came off a junction earlier as the M62 became a car park. Got to my daughter's and looked at my trip meter. Wow I thought. 38.8mpg. Now to me that's impressive for such a car. Well chuffed. Spoke with a main man at Lexus Leeds and stated I was disappointed in how the car wasn't given a 40k service at 36k miles whilst the dealer chain had it in the midlands. I said that Leeds should do the 40k service and at a heavily discounted price. It was agreed. So in a few weeks when my car hits 40k it'll have a proper 40k service. I will pay upto half for it. Loving my car but this is my worst car for parking next to the kerb. Blimey I drive a truck for a living and can park that perfectly but my RX? Sheesh I'm ruddy rubbish lol.
  18. Ooooops. I loved mine too. It was strata silver I think (the dark metallic grey) with superb tan leather interior. It was the 1st car I did a hifi installation. It was also the 1st of 3 800 series Rovers. The other 2 were vitesses 2.7 V6 and then the 2.0 turbo. Loved all 3 of them. Oh very happy years.
  19. Wow a fellow lexus owner whose owned a Rover 800 Sterling too. What''s the chances of that?
  20. Brake pad wear indicators have been out for decades.
  21. How is the general sound of the music system in your car? Which system is it? The only problem I had with my IS was paring my android phone to the car. Streaming Spotify premium via Bluetooth there were no problems what so ever. OK my had ML and it sounded aweome. Does the radio sound good or great? How do CD's sound? Maybe there is a fault with one or more of the cars speakers.
  22. Yes fuel pumps are in the petrol tank but they are at the top of the tank with pipes going to very near the bottom so as far as running a pump dry/cold is nonsense. Every car I expect had I've run the fuel to beyond the warning light with no issues what so ever. However nowt wrong with being cautious so borrow a tenner.
  23. Hi Rayaans. Just looked on the tube and it seems easy to change the battery. Yes I know they change them on Full services but I think the last full service was done either a year or so ago or God knows. Watching a couple of tube vids I'd say my battery was running low coz it's come to me that I've noticed 'key not present ' come up a few times. I'll start using the spare key for now but both will get new batteries this week.
  24. That's something I thought about since the car is 5 years old and no idea how old fob batteries are. I didn't know they're rechargeable. How do I do that or just put a new battery in?
  25. I had a strange happening with my car yesterday and today. I could get into my car no problem but when I tried to start it it didn't want to know until 3rd or 4th attempt. I even had to get my seat into position myself. Today tho I found my keyfob quite hot to the touch which kind of freaked me out a bit. I thought about it and concluded that my car keyfob doesn't like the keyfob I have for my wife's place. So I kept both fobs in separate pockets and hey ho back to normal. So something new learnt today and hopefully help to others is to keep the car keyfob separate to other keyfobs such as building entry systems. I was going to take some photos of my car today when at Squires Gate cafe near Leeds but it got too packed. But next time I'm out in it I'll take and post some pics.
