  1. You could search this forum as there have been owners who have changed the air suspension when it failed for coil springs, with I think very good results. As for the sat nav forget it, just use your phone or a stand alone ( say tomtom or Garmin) unit. Heater controls would need investigating. good luck with your search.
  2. David I think your previous comments say it all “I think that my battery (2007 RX400H) is getting ready to die, based on the fact the tell tale leds on the Ctek comfort lead are blinking red, even after a 50km drive yesterday. This afternoon it was showing 10.5v on the acc. position. This after a 50km drive yesterday.” You probably need to get your 12v battery charging checked as it’s not working properly, 10.5v after 50km!!. Use your Ctek to charge it directly in the mean time. Don’t bother trying to get a replacement under warranty as I think all manufacturers have this type of wording in that regard. ‘No warranty for the deep discharged or flat battery or under 10.5V. All Batteries warranted against premature failure due to manufacturing or material defects only. The warranty does not cover Sulphation, Wear and Tear; Deep discharged more than 80%, Overcharging, Physical Damage, Incorrect application.’ Good luck with getting it fixed. Dave
  3. Nicole, I would recommend buying from Lexus so your budget will need uping a bit . I have just looked at lexus.co.uk and found 450h's starting at £11,300, £11,950, £12,299, £12,950........ all will include 12 month Lexus warranty (check the details of what it includes) and this can be extended for years 2 and 3 for £995. Also as a LOC Gold member you can get discounts on Lexus servicing. Good luck with your search.
  4. yes John, on the first service I had in July 19, the rear anti roll bar was replaced (service administrator said they replace whole unit as it is quicker and easier than replacing bushes/links!!) and a rear caliper both items claimed under the extended warranty. Nothing claimed during the last service in July this year.
  5. For what it's worth on 30 July 2018 I purchased an RX400h (first registered 30-11-2007 ) from a Lexus dealer with 130,880 miles so it came with 1 year Lexus extended warranty. At the time of collection I saw the advertisement card on the salesman's desk offering 2 for 1 warranty ie 2 years extended warranty for £995. I asked if I could purchase this and the answer was yes, so I did. Lexus warranty until 01-08-2021😊 Hope this helps.
  6. Thanks Colin, its under warranty at present so I'll let Lexus check it for correct function. I assume its all ok as I can't hear any fan noise from the rear battery area. Is it straight forward accessing and removing the upper cover? many thanks Dave
  7. I was recently reading one of my old Car Mechanics mags April 17 they were detailing a service on a 2005 Prius Mk2. They removed the fan that blows ducted air across the battery pack. The fan was very dirty and required cleaning as this restricts air flow and puts unwanted weight on the blades. Is this a procedure necessary on RX hybrids, if so is it part of Lexus service tasks or the Hybrid service check? If not part of either service schedule should I be doing the equivalent job myself. A further question but related, how important is it to keep the vents below the rear seats (RX400h) free from obstruction? I'm always removing someone's handbag or shopping bags!! Thanks for your comments.
  8. Having checked a few months back when my car was MOTed and serviced, the warranty can only be extended on cars under 10 years of age, and the extension, as most of us will know, is in tow year chunks. As the agent pointed out to me, If you're lucky you renew when the car is 9 years 11 months old, allowing manufacturer warranty to cover you to just under the 12 year mark. Think I will be able to get to 11.5 years. Not quite so Dapprman, I bought an RX400h from Lexus dealer last year on 30-7-18 and the car was first registered 30-11-07. It came with 12 months Lexus extended warranty an I bought at the time of purchase a further 2 years extended warranty.
  9. thanks Silversalmon, can you post a link to the ebay advert.
  10. Anyone fitted mud flaps and were they effective at keeping the muddy puddle debris off the sides, especially at the front. Also any comments on the fit and effectiveness of ebay items at £20-30 at set compared with Lexus at c£140 at set for a 400h many thanks for your input. Dave
  11. Eddy1 I think your safest option is to buy a used RX400 from Lexus, there are 3 on their site for £10k or less. They would come with 12 months approved warranty, and you could extend for a further 2 years for £995. good luck if you find what you are looking for from independents or private sellers.
  12. I bought an Approved Used RX400h last July from a Lexus dealer. It had 130k on the clock but came with 12 months Lexus warranty which I extended by a further 2 years. The service record was all stamped up but no details of what was done at each service. On delivery the 130k service was stamped on the right side of the booklet over the watermarked ‘full service’. As it’s due a service and MOT next month I thought I would have a look at the Lexus web site and see what was available for the older vehicle. I also registered and found the on-line history. As an approved used vehicle I was expected the history to be precise, so the cambelt good until 200k and the spark plugs to 180k. Not so, the cambelt and water pump was change at 126K so a bit of a bonus, ok till 226k. The plugs however were changed at 80k so now need doing next month at 140k. This I believe is an expensive service item which I thought I could budget for at 180K. The 130k service was not a full one so not only the plugs need changing it also needs a full service!! Do you think I have any re-dress with the supplying dealer for at least a discount on the spark plug change. If they won’t budge can I have them done (at lower cost) by an independent Lexus specialist? Any comments welcome. Thanks Dave
  13. My second car back in the late sixties was a VW Beetle😂 had no fuel gauge. It had an angled lever down by the clutch and you turned it 90 deg with your foot when it start stalling from fuel starvation, you were then on the reserve tank with a gallon left find the next garage.

  15. Hi rr8178r If your budget is £6-7k and are prepared to travel a bit I think this one on ebay classified is a good one from what reads as a very decent dealer. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-57-LEXUS-RX-400H-3-3-SE-CVT-5D-AUTO-NAV/264112317681?hash=item3d7e5224f1:g:q6gAAOSwip5cAJex:rk:28:pf:0 good luck with your search.
  16. I have had dozens of cars both company chariots and my own during my mature driving years. Last year I decided that we needed to change the Honda CRV diesel manual for something similar size but automatic. Yes, getting to that time in life when there seems to be more traffic jams/queues/holdups.One of my customers has a RX400h which he was keen to show off and let me test drive – I was smitten with the performance delivery, quality, comfort and above all the technology. Looked for a used one, but still tested others like Volvo XC90 but that felt old fashioned and a bit agricultural. I found a RX400h at a Lexus dealer within my budget. (£7-8K, latest on Lexus web site is about £10k, but cheaper will come up occasionally) It was not perfect at 130k but drove superbly. As a pre owned approved it comes with 1 year Lexus warranty, I added a further 2 years. Now we are at 136K not a single issue and feel confident that any major problems are covered by the warranty. My first encounter with Lexus and have had great service from the supplying dealer and the car is fabulous all round. I would recommend trying to find one at Lexus or independent dealer with a decent warranty.
  17. What miles have they done and what year of manufacture? I would swap for a decent set of mid range or premium tyres as soon as you can. plenty of recommendation on here. Dave
  18. HonestJohn says for a 450h (2009-2015) official mpg 44.8 - 51.4 and real mpg 33.
  19. Hi to all I have just acquired a 400h from a Lexus dealer with 12 month warranty; I have also added the 2 for 1 warranty giving me 3 years cover which gives me great comfort on such a technical car. It has full Lexus stamped service book. It has done 130k and I was wondering as the gearbox oil change is not a service item I doubt it has been done. Would you think it’s worth getting done even though I have 3 years warranty? I may keep the car longer than 3 years. Is the same true for the front differential? It’s SE-L so has the rear screens but no headphones or DVD remote. I can get a picture but of course no sound. Can I get a cheap compatible headphone (1 is enough) or can I connect a wired set to the red/yellow/white phono sockets in the pocket of the rear of the drivers seat? Tyres, it has Iota Accelera on the front and Bridgestone Potenza RE03T on the rear, all with good tread. I think the Iota is at the budget end of the market so would it be worth having the better bridgestones on the front? Thanks to all you knowledgeable owners your views and comments very welcome. Cheers Dave
