  1. If the cruise control works in the same way to every other Lexus that I have driven, you can adjust the set speed by simply pushing the stick up or down. Each press is a change of either 1 or 2 mph. If you pull the stick towards you it cancels the current cruise mode - if you then push the stick up it will revert back to the previous set speed.
  2. I took delivery of a 2009-2010 disc a couple of weeks ago - it was released at the beginning of October. Take the disc out of your current system and look at the part numbers. Stick these part numbers into the following site and it will tell you if a new disc is available. It will report a 'part number' which ends in the year: eg: PZ485-X03EU-09 is the part number for my new 2009-2010 discs that work in my 55 Reg IS250 (and a 57 Reg RX400h and 06 Reg SC430). http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/ At the current exchange rate, the discs are about £149 including postage. Cheers Phil PS: I'm selling my old 2008-2009 discs on the forums - look in the buy/sell section.
  3. The new system uses a Hard Drive instead of DVDs, so is a slightly modified unit which is probably why it has the post code system. However, the good news would be that if Lexus is prepared to pay the fees that Royal Mail charge for the Post Code entry, we could see it on a future DVD release??
  4. Checked this morning - the postcode entry is still the same as previous discs, meaning you can only enter the first few characters. eg: S26 5
  5. None of the Lexus discs have had full postcode entry in the past so I doubt that this one will, but I will check tomorrow.
  6. No new changes that I can see from the 2008/2009 discs. You can still operate the Nav system while the vehicle is moving, but the Phone and Audio controls are still restricted.
  7. Just to let you all know that the 2009/10 (E12) SatNav DVDs are now available from www.lexus-mapupdates.eu - mine were delivered this morning and I'll install them when I get home. I'm selling my old (2008/09 E11) DVDs in the Buy/Sell area of the forum.
  8. A lot of tourist destinations are in the POI database on the Lexus system. Try searching for them by name or even postcode. I've found a number of hotels directly by just typing in the phone number (think it's on the 2nd screen after pushing destination).
  9. No tyre wear issues so far and apparently it isn't a problem on the 250 like it was on the 200/300. Car is really comfortable for a long run. I would personally say that the IS300 handled slightly better than the IS250 on bendy country roads, but I think the difference is only slight. May be due to the IS300 being slightly smaller. The 250 is a better car in my opinion, even when you don't take into account the extra toys.
  10. Just thought I'd share my opinions of my '55' reg IS250 SE Auto MM now that I've had it for 3 months. Bought it as a Approved used car from a Lexus dealer back in February. No problems with the purchase, although I was annoyed that despite them having the car for sale for a couple of months, they had not done the Steering Rack and Rear Brake recall. A quick trip to Lexus Sheffield sorted that problem. Car is a dream to drive. Lovely smooth auto box and I love the paddle-shift for some fun on country roads. Very nippy to drive. Doesn't have the grunt of the IS300 I used to have, but still feels just as quick. It is just more refined in the power delivery. Mark Levinson sound system is great - nice to have such good sound quality while in a car! MPG: I've been quite impressed with the MPG I've been getting. I knew it would be rubbish on my short 4 mile run to work, through the local villages (about 24MPG) but get the car on a long run and it's great. Yesterday I did a return journey from Sheffield to Cardiff. 400 mile round trip on Motorway pretty much all the way. I wasn't going slow ! I didn't need to fill up the car for the trip back and I still had quarter of a tank left when I returned home (used to have to top the IS300 up for the return journey). The trip-computer said my Average MPG was 37.5 - lovely! With the comfort of driving and the ease of the auto box I have to wonder why anyone would buy a manual. Then, with the MPG I'm getting on long runs and the price difference between petrol and diesel, I'm wondering why anyone would buy the IS220d! Cheers Phil
  11. I had a Honda Accord in 2006 and the SatNav in that did full postcode entry.
  12. New DVDs for the SatNav are generally released every year in Nov/Dec. They cost about €159 to buy direct from Lexus - http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/ Don't let the dealer fob you off - the most up-to-date version for most Lexus vehicles is 2008-2009 - check the version on the SatNav screen of the car before buying it. Alternatively, take the disc out of the machine (in the boot) and make a note of the codes numbers printed on the bottom and use the website above to check for the availability of updates. The website will then tell you if an update is available and will give you the Lexus Part Number: eg: PZ485-X03EU-08 (the 08 at the end indicates a 2008-2009 version disc). Hope that helps you out.
  13. Just had the Steering Rack and Brake Caliper recall work done on my '55' IS250SE Auto. New rack, calipers and rear brake pads have been fitted Great service from Lexus Sheffield. All the work explained to me, car fully cleaned, £20 fuel top-up and a nice tin of sweets left in the car for me. Does anyone know when these recalls were announced by Lexus? I bought my car from Lexus Norwich in February and I'm disappointed that they didn't check and/or carry out the work before I took delivery of the car, especially as the steering and brakes are pretty safety critical.
  14. That 1000 mile/30 day return promise is conditional on taking a replacement vehicle from the dealer's stock! You can bet that they won't give you your money back, and any replacement available will be at a higher price than the one that you are returning. Yes, and it is also based on the Invoice Price you paid for the car. So if you had a part-ex when you bought your car, they may have given you more for that and lowered the price of the car you were buying. If you then went for the 30-day swap, you would only have the allowance of the lower purchase price.
  15. New SatNav DVD are generally released in Nov/Dec each year. I purchased my current 2008/2009 set in Nov 2008 when it was first released. My set is 4 DVDs. The only disc I used is the one labelled "Europe West" which has full mapping of the UK and France which is fine for me as they are the only places that I drive. However, if I did drive into Germany, for example, I would need to change to the "Europe Central" disc. £100 is a good price from a Lexus dealer. They are usually €159 from http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/
  16. What disc numbers were you trying?
  17. Just received an email from my local dealer which looks like it is actually sent from Lexus Marketing. They are offering me a free oil and filter change and 15 months extended warranty for the price of 12. The email part about the free oil and filter change actually relates to my old IS300 that I traded in a while ago (the service & mot for it would have been due last month I think). It is restricted to cars with the registration number listed in the email. The extended warranty offer just says: Call 0844 871 7753 and quote ‘LLCM02’ to purchase your extended warranty by phone. Terms and conditions apply.
  18. Yeah loads of terrible roads near me at the moment. Luckily the IS250 I got a couple of weeks ago appears rattle-free! (Nov 2005)
  19. The latest DVD only unlocks the navigation while driving. The bluetooth interface and MP3 folder access remain the same (ie: you can only use your pre-programmed speed dials for the phone).
  20. The latest 2008-2009 DVD for the SatNav system updates the software to allow use of the SatNav while the vehicle is in motion. If you could borrow one of these DVDs from someone, it would update your software, then you could put your old disc back in. I've tested this on my old Prius and my IS250
  21. It's a good thought, but doesn't apply on the SE - only the SE-L has the electrically adjustable steering column.
  22. thanks for the info - good to know I've not got a problem (although it is under warranty).
  23. Hi, When I get into my IS250SE Auto and press the start button, there is a noise for about half-a-second from the steering column. The steering wheel also vibrates very slightly. When I switch the car off and open the door, I hear the same noise. I think it is the steering lock engaging and disengaging - my question is, should it make a noise? It is reasonably loud and sounds unrefined. The car was registered in Nov 2005. Anyone else have a similar noise? Thanks Phil
  24. Cars from Lexus GB have registration numbers starting with 'G' as that is the letter assigned to the local DVLA office for that area. You will see that they also have'Lexus GB' written on the bottom of the number plate, instead of the dealer name. If you ever go on a Lexus Open Road event, you should see that most of the cars have this kind of plate.
