  1. I had the wheel, disc and caliper off today to take a look. It is obviously a hub off job. The screws securing the shield to the hub are in a bad way, but the shield itself is still secure. The question is, do I buy a puller and a suitable socket to get the hub off, or just suck up the labour cost when garages open again? I only paid £43 for the genuine Toyota part, so I'm quids in already.
  2. I believe they have changed premises and the new insurance company has stopped them fitting customer supplied parts. They were not local, but I do not appear to have a toyota specialist near me.
  3. Hi all. I appreciate it's been mentioned before, but I purchased a replacement OSF backing plate for my RX from Ebay, for a fraction of the cost vs Lexus and planned to get my specialist to fit it, but now they are unable to do so(insurance won't permit it). New plan is to do it myself. Being the front, I believe it is less involved than the rear (no parking brake shoe). Has anybody got experience of doing it or could provide advice? Cheers
  4. Savagegeese is fantastic. I did not realise how much work went into the RCF over and above the standard RC until I watched his video.
  5. My dad has had all 4 corners of his air suspension replaced, a new starter motor and I think hes had O2 sensors or similar replaced. Hes had full value from the cover. It's a performance car, I'm sure repair bills could be similarly impressive. Of course people buy Lexus for reliability and I'm fairly sure I wont have any issues outside of normal wear and tear, however there is always a "what if" in my mind.
  6. I pay for a 3 year service package with the dealer which includes the MOTS and i get breakdown recovery through my bank unfortunately 😂 I have been trying to justify the costs aswell. End of the day, my dads 07 LS460 has had alot done to it and the warranty paid for its self several times over. They have never quibbled anything and treated him superbly.
  7. Same position here, tax due in June. Warranty and tax, not what I need financially right now 😐
  8. My renewal has just come through as my 12 month cover expires in June. Might have to pay monthly to make things work. I know the F cars are extremely reliable, but for peace of mind it is an excellent deal. Any drive train issues and I'd be ruined.
  9. Agreed silver is not the best choice and I think I remember the missing service, I contacted them about it last summer. Just a shame that it's not on the road yet, I've not seen a single F car around me.
  10. Weird question, sorry if it's already been mentioned. There is a silver RCF for sale at a car supermarket in Belfast, which has been available for a long time. They have dropped the price considerably. Just out of curiosity, what is the score?
  11. I purchased a brand new 640D gran coupe in 2014 on PCP. Ended up with the best part ex against my car, 4 years 0%, 1k personal deposit, 13k ish BMW deposit contribution and 5 years free servicing. If I'd have purchased the car after 4 years, it would have cost me 20k less than list. At the stage you told BMW you wanted a new 6 and they bent over.
  12. Yes I believe he does say this, german cars of this ilk are terrible for carbon build up. One of the reasons I went for the Lexus. I must admit I've only used premium a couple of times, given its normally aspirated, I've read there is little point in using posh stuff. I stay clear of supermarket fuel however (rightly or wrongly)
  13. Love the blue, has to be my favourite colour on the RCF. If I eventually get mine wrapped or resprayed (drastic I know), I'd be definitely going blue.
  14. I remember the manager at Mercedes Blackpool telling me they were doing some stonking deals on the SLS. What a car that is. Not so many years ago you could pick up a gen 1 NSX for circa 30k, now look at their prices!
  15. Yeah they sorted the bolt issue around 2010 / 11. I believe there is an issue with the camshaft lifters, the metal simply erodes away and there is no fix. Only way to tell is to take the head off. Can't remember if this is to do with oil starvation at the top of the engine or inferior metal being used on the lifters. Also given the fact it is a 6.2 in a c class, means every job is that bit more difficult due to lack of space. I would have still potentially got one, but the fuel tank is simply not big enough for my needs.
  16. Washed mine, then heavens opened, havnt even had chance to drive her. Now shes covered in rain dirt 🙄
  17. Good luck and stay healthy. It could be my Mrs has just had it, 38 temp but no other symptoms. Turns out she had served 2 confirmed cases at work, so likely that she has had it. She got away extremely lightly if that is to be the case. Lexus finance are being proactive and contacting customers to see if they need help. Going to leave it as long as possible. I think I might be ok.
  18. I take it you mean the M4 😂 I've always fancied a M156 powered car, but don't fancy the potential bills associated with the inherent design issues. BMW M cars just don't do anything for me at all. Lexus reliability won the day, plus I really like the design, especially the seats. Still love the quicksilver.
  19. I didnt realise the current gen C63 is so heavy and people have a dig at the RCF!
  20. I still remember seeing my first NSX on the road (as a kid), not sure I've seen one since. A truly iconic car, designed with help from one hell of a driver.
  21. A series 1 NSX is a good call, they have rocketed up in value. Always had a hankering for an Aston, a V12 Vantage manual would be amazing, but again rocketing up in price. Couldn't afford to run one anyway. A mint 90's MR2 GT T-Bar to throw around the country lanes. I'd have a C8 quite happily out of brand new cars. My list goes on to be fair.
  22. That is one mean looking beast. Now where have I seen that particular body / caliper paint combo before 😁
  23. I'm stuck with fairly heavy HP payments on the RCF, but I should be able to make it work. I've read through the contract and I've not got many options anyway! The wife will go before the F goes, I've got a bad joke, but probably not forum appropriate 😆 I'm being made to take unpaid leave at work, so things will be tight. Just applied for a new mortgage aswell, as my current deal is running out. If work pressure continues long term, I shall have to reassess.
  24. Hi all. Need some running repairs done on my RX and the place I used before, no longer installs parts sourced by customers. Has anybody got any recommendations for the Nottinghamshire area? Cheers
