  1. Totally agree with part one, Hamilton used to be the most consistently performing driver, and the one thing that set him apart in all years was his ability to improve as the season goes on - this is the one thing for me that I'll remember him for. Many drivers, Vettel for example would peak mid-season and would struggle to keep the points coming after the summer break. Hamilton, even during the '16 season where he won the last four races, is incredible in keeping his momentum and focus until the end of the championship. What I have to disagree with is the fact that they both drove for a "totally dominant" team during their WDC years. Lewis Hamilton, from his first outing on the track, has been driving a world championship contender. The McLaren he was in, of course whilst disqualified from constructors championship in 2007 came very close to the Ferrari of Kimi, who clenched the WDC that year. But then went on to marginally win the WDC in 2008, even then Felipe Massa would have easily won the championship had it not been due to his retirements or, in the least, his team's mistake at the Singapore GP. This is the one year where Lewis had won with not the fastest car but definitely a top runner. His Mercedes titles are very clearly due to the car. Michael's fortune was quite a bit different, and very often he had to put a lot of work with the team in order to get the car to P1. He spent years at Benneton and Ferrari before claiming his titles. His 2000 title saw him retire in three races in a row. 2003, Kimi nearly managed to steal the WDC from him and BMW were a very strong car too. Yes, 2004 will go down in history of dominance, however it is very clear to me that Michael has played a crucial part of developing the cars to get them to there. Lewis had to just get the car across the finish line, Michael had to help his team get to that. I have never been a fan of Lewis, his Ryvita personality changes every year. What I have come to respect and admire about him over the years is his efforts with the Hamilton Commission (although sceptical me sees that he started riding on the wave of popularity of BLM, wasn't ever feeling like doing anything until pressured by those around him in 2020), and his enduring performance. In any elite sport, and I think Tom Brady is a great example of that too, it takes absolutely everything to stay on top of your game for as long as these men have. Lewis' 15 years in the sport is something truly remarkable, but it's not been enough thus far to make me his fan. What I will always disagree with is claiming Lewis is the greatest driver to have graced the paddock. He's up there, but far from 1st. There have been many other drivers that have championed their peers with their performance. If we look at Lewis' 2009-2012 years he was found coming short of his teammates, something we haven't seen from the likes of Schumacher, Hakkinen or Jim Clark. Yes, he may be the cleanest multi WDC winner, but he's also the master of staying in the "grey area" where many of his wrongdoings go unnoticed because they don't include directly taking out his competition (Schumacher, Senna, Prost) or resorting to tactics such as Renault's Crashgate.
  2. Hello Roger, I cannot personally confirm until I get in the RX this weekend, but have you tried referring to the manual? This is what I found with a quick search, if you select the side display to display navigation information you should be able to select "Highway" thus displaying the information you need:
  3. Hi Pablo, welcome to the Forum! Hopefully you will be able to find plenty of information amongst all the topics available. If not, don't be afraid, we are a friendly bunch I'm sure someone will be happy to help!
  4. I've held off until the teams got their set up right for qualifying. I'd love to see Max hold onto it: Ver Per Ham
  5. I think each to their own, to me every paint requires the same amount of work. I for one have only purchased black vehicles for some time now as they are the most rewarding when properly maintained and detailed. I've seen the Structural Blue on the LC500 in the flesh and wasn't that impressed either. It's the black alloys that although look beautiful I can't help but think how they will just disappear in the arches.
  6. @dutchie01 Historic events are fun regardless of the category. Goodwood Revival and the Glover Trophy is my most favourite event on the calendar. It also gives a great perspective on how far the sport has come. I remember few years back attending an F1 weekend and the most fun to watch were the GP2 cars whilst they still raced with the Mecachrome V8's, even they have now been replaced with muffled V6s. Although I'm all for sustainability and pushing the Eco agenda within motorsport I do wonder if they will do something in 2025 to bring back the one thing that's missing in the current F1 cars - the noise. Safety-wise, the FIA has really learned its lessons and done so much regarding driver safety - just the few recent incidents show us how many lives have been saved thanks to the regulations. Now I'm expecting the same to happen with FIA track approval and spectator safety following the last fatal crash at Brands - I think soon enough we will all moan how attending races isn't the same anymore as they'll push us so far away from the track we will barely see who's on track.
  7. Correct, the BTC-T cars used the 3S-GE Black Top engines as they were much better fit for purpose. Their base power was pushing above 200bhp as compared to a mediocre 150bhp of the fuel efficient 1G-GEU. Although at the start of their 2001 campaign they missed their first race due to many delays such as gearbox being too short thus requiring longer than expected prop shafts or engines being late arriving from Japan. It's worth noting that the Lexus team was a customer team and never had any factory support. BTCC as it's now called is definitely a fun sport to watch still, although I wish Rockingham was still an active circuit for them to come back to. And Castle Combe, if we're making requests.
  8. Hi Mike, Yes, you can fit a towbar to an ES, there is even an official accessory for bikes, go check it out. No you can't, unfortunately no official tow bar available and although people have managed to achieve it it's normally a custom DIY job. The acceleration will be more than satisfactory if the Prius hasn't left you longing for more power. The 2.5L unit is nearly as twice as powerful as the one found in the Prius so although the weight of the car is slightly bigger you will feel an increase in performance I'm sure. Did you mean Takumi? I remember reading up about the hollow chamber muffling effects on the LS, wasn't aware that it's trickled down to the ES as well. How much of an effect will that have? I'm not so certain we'd notice on our british roads. The majority of the road noise comes from the road surface and not our vehicles; take a trip to France/Belgium and you'll see what I mean. There are various technologies besides what Lexus has come up with, Foam Layered tyres such as the ContiSilent tyres from Continental being one example.
  9. Here's a link for more information on this. It's strange to see the 3series in top 3 too, I was half expecting to see a Korean car in the runner ups.
  10. Have you gained any extra weight during lockdown? On a serious side... does the car sit evenly when stationary and evenly loaded? And have the springs been kept the same? There are so many factors in suspension dynamics, could be anything. Have you inspected the support assembly/strut mount?
  11. I'm happy for Valtteri. I can't imagine what it felt like, driving 5 seasons with a team that has no business of prioritising your races, running on 1 year contract extensions. He has a great race pace but absolutely crumbles under pressure. However since the Alfa announcement he's found himself a new lease of life. George will bring some fresh blood into the team, another hungry youngster, should be interesting.
  12. I'm hoping to see Live Streaming make their way to the popular platforms such as Amazon or Netflix, there's big money to be made should they introduce live coverages like they did with Football. As much as the Sky deal provided Ecclestone with an incredible revenue stream, the British fans have been the one to suffer as a consequence. For someone who has all the interest in the sport, forking out for the ridiculous pricing scheme of Sky subscription is a big ask. Although at least I've enjoyed a few years of watching other racing series as they were more accessible, WEC is a very fun series to follow; Formula E is finally picking up the momentum also! Hopefully before the end of the 2024 Sky F1 contract, Liberty Media will strike some sort of a deal to bring us the F1TV Pro. I find David to be a bit of a hit and miss these days, his opinions on the HAM vs VER drama have pushed me over the edge lately. He would do best replacing Crofty and Brundle and teaming up with Weber to commentate on the races. Leave the analysis to Chandhok and occasional Rosberg appearances, they seem to have a much fairer outlook on things. I mean come on, Coulthard's interview with Bottas after his Monza P3 performance said it all.
  13. Stunning, absolutely adore the wheel choice as well. Have they gotten rid of the silver/chrome finished part of the taillight? For some reason I find it so tacky on this car.
  14. Good choice! Make sure you get the packaging and manuals included, one handy tip regarding the Nextbase dashcam is that if you do not require any footage to be downloaded you can just format your SD card by pressing the "Protect" triangular button and holding it for 6 seconds until the amber LED starts flashing. The instructions are also prescribed on the top of the camera as seen below. It's a really handy trick to keep it error-free!
  15. Definitely my favourite colour on offer! Congrats! Let us know your thoughts on switching from small RWD to a bigger FWD.
  16. Hi Barry, I have fitted a dash cam to both my vehicles, I even did a write up on installing the 380GW in a CT which I'm sure you'll find useful if you end up going the DIY route. 380GW's pop up on fleabay for quite an attractive price, take a look around, mine set me back less than £150 with the hardwire kit and an SD card. Rear cameras I think are less value for money, chances are that if only the rear of your car takes part in an accident it's 99/100 not your fault.
  17. Been a fan ever since I remember. The Hamilton domination era has ben very tiring and damaging to the sport. But this season I have watched every practice and qualifying session as well as the race, I've never been any more invested in this sport. Very thankful for Liberty Media and their efforts to bring the F1 to the masses, even if it hurts the elitists.
  18. It's worth noting that Cat S is basically Cat C in old terms. Which should put off anyone that isn't desperate to purchase that particular vehicle for donor purposes. "Lexus history until 2018" and "full service history" are yet another red flags I'd look out for on a normal vehicle ad, one that has not already been written off.
  19. I would personally steer away from this vehicle. The badges and vector generators placed on the roof tell me suspicious things about the previous owner, and a structural write off on a vehicle capable of getting close to 180mph makes it a death trap in my opinion.
  20. I stopped referring to them as courtesy cars but call them Hire Vehicles instead. First one or two times I was trying to be mindful of the mileage clocked up. That was until I was given a brand new NX for a week whilst the dealer was trying to sort out the A/C amplifier. I did around 800 miles within the week. Not a word mentioned.
  21. I've been in talks with Lexus Cardiff about potentially sourcing a GSF for a P/X. They have said that the market for RCF/GSF/LCs is so tight right now the cars are flying off their lots within days. Cars often don't get listed because they have a waiting line of customers who will take one any day. The latest RCF they sold was sold within a day, 4 weeks before the previous owner was ready to part with it. LCs right now are selling for silly prices too but from what I was told the shop manager was bidding at above suggested price just to get one into their showroom. So it's not even like the garages are making any money on these cars.
  22. Adrian Flux always gets a +1 from me, very pleasant bunch to deal with.
  23. One more point to add, I'd be intrigued to see if it could potentially be brought to phase out the RC. As the GR86 is supposed to start it's pricing at £28k, Lexus would need to start from mid 30's, which brings it very close to the RC300h starting price. And I'm worried that Tetsuya Tada would completely disagree with slinging so much added weight into a lightweight chassis with the hybrid option.
  24. As a current twins owner I'm following this quite closely, Toyota is bringing the GR86 to FOS next month. Having said this, however, the hybrid combination is what worries me the most in the Lexus rumoured offering. I'm absolutely happy to have a CVT in the GS as it's comfort orientated, however this vehicle deserves a more sportier drivetrain. I will wait to see the official release, who knows maybe the rumours are not right?
  25. Hot hatches, whichever ones you are looking at will never provide you with the same class of comfort inside. Even the F Sport boasts luxury of which the spartan hot hatches will leave much to desire. If you are looking to get a hybrid and are worried about performance/MPG - it's probably one of the worst choices you can make. The car will not bring you great fuel consumption numbers if it is being driven like a diesel and you will simply find yourself not doing the fast lane speeds because there is nothing in the car to make you desire it. The gearbox feels sluggish as there's no kick in the back but don't be fooled, the BHP numbers do not lie and the 450h can shift just as well as the rest, only not as suddenly. Driven reasonably you can start seeing >40MPG but your partner will start calling you granddad - just like your mates will when they see you pull up in a Lexus. However, I bought mine whilst comparing it to a BMW 5, Audi A6 and a Merc E - all of which I've driven and considered for a long time. The performance wasn't on par with the 3L drivetrains (especially as I've gone for the gs300h), however it was an all round better package - no brand could match the interior design and ride comfort and that was the winning argument for me. Reliability wise it will take you further than most others, consumption will be really good once you've driven it for a while and possibly changed your habits. Just don't fool yourself thinking you'll be able to use it to carry anything more than a few passengers and a suitcase. I do around 25-30k annual motorway miles and couldn't think of a better car to choose - it's quiet, comfortable and reliable. Plus a good Mark Levinson is better than the same age B&W or Bose.
